“Reviving, peaceful, handmade with love”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Spending two nights in Indigo helped me gather my energy and set me on the path to discover the Coromandel and all it has to offer. A gentle space, beautifully appointed. Unique. Earth flooring in the living areas, copper fixtures and a pebble floor in the shower area and lovely linen (my number one requirement) on a comfortable bed. A functional kitchen space . If you like comfort with artistry then Indigo is a place I would highly recommend.

Indigo has such a unique flavour - from the earth floor to the works of sculpture and hessian-style bed cover, you can really sense that the owner Robyn has put a lot of thought and love into the place. My partner and I had a fabulous night here, we really enjoyed the outdoor bath and massive shower! It's elegantly simple and located nice and close to Coromandel Town. I would definitely recommend it to couples looking to unwind!

Room Tip: Lower studio has more privacy.

We've very much enjoyed our two stays at Robyn's, charming Indigo Bush Studios. Both have been in the lower studio. Our first in summer some time ago, when we sat outside and toasted the sunset and our recent winter visit, snug inside warmed by the log fire. Nestled in native garden, the location is beautifully private. The facilities and equipment are simple but of excellent quality. We bring books to read, ready prepared dishes we can heat up in a pot and are looking forward to next time.

Great studio! Located in the middle of trees. Very esthetic style, well-equipped, comfortable and spacious studio with private bath on the terrace. We would like to come back and definitely recommend to stay there.

Awesome awesome awesome place! couldn't asked for a better retreat for our honeymoon, especially after the craziness that is a wedding.
Favourite part had to be the outdoor bath!!!
Thank you to Robyn for your beautiful and generous hospitality. Also so great to find a gay-friendly accomodation that is so beautiful
cheers,
rashmi

Just had a fantastic 3-night stay here in this lovely, peaceful place. We stayed in the lovely lower studio (agree with other reviewers - think it affords more privacy - if you want to take advantage of the rather decadent outdoor bathing opportunity anyway).
The studio is simply but comfortably furnished. We had great weather so took full advantage of this to fling open the big windows in the shower and to have star lit baths! Sadly tho, this meant we couldn't quite justify lighting the wood burning stove! Will have to return in winter for this!
Loved the outdoors/indoors feel of this place. Ferns and bushes give a real sense of hiding away from the world.
Only downside is that nothing is really within walking distance. But with some nice NZ sav blanc in the fridge, who cares?
We had a lovely meal at UMU. And another pretty good one at the Pepper Tree. Great veg breakfast in the idyllic gardens of the cafe near the railway (can't remember what it was called).
Highly recommend driving over to Te Kauaotunu for pizza at Luke's Kitchen. Nice cafe/gallery there too. (Not as pretentious as some of the others on the peninsula).
Really lovely few days exploring Coromandel. Can't recommend this place highly enough as a base for doing so.

We recently stayed in the lower studio for a getaway weekend and absolutely loved it. Our only issue was deciding whether to explore the countryside or stay in and enjoy the studio! Very private, and thoughtfully laid out with everything you could need. Simply done, in a lovely earthy way. Alfresco bath... Tuis in the flax bushes... Afternoon sun in the courtyard.... Cosy fire at night. Will hopefully be back!

Room Tip: Lower studio offers more privacy in terms of alfresco bath
