To prevent others being caught out like we were. this is how our stay went
We had booked to stay from the 27th of December and to depart from the 31 of December. The stay at these Facilities was an unpleasant one.Our first impressions was good, it was a nice unit with a big back bed room and we looked forward to the stay, until the evening then the stay turned into a nightmare.
It was a hot evening and the back bedroom seemed to generate the heat, so we had to leave the windows open to cool things down. The road noise was loud and just funnelled its way into the unit. When getting our daughter setup up in the back bedroom a spider hung from the ceiling and that was it she did not want to sleep there, and to add to it there was a prayingmantice on the head of the bed, so my wife and I slept in the back bedroom. That night we so found that there was no insulation or sound proofing at all between us and the kitchen/toilet facilities and had to endure:
>People talking, it was so clear you could have joined in on the conversation and you could tell what nationality they were with their accent and language.
>People going to the toilet, you could hear what they were doing, the seat being put down or up, the rumble of the toilet roll as it was tugged at, with the final flush and door slam at the end.
>The cooking and preparation, you heard the tinging of the teaspoons as they stirred their cups
>The TV going.
>The constant slamming of the door.
>Constant road noise, it as if the cars and trucks were being driven through the unit
This went on continuously well after 10:00pm. Come the next morning early (say going on to 5:30-6:00am) it started again only with the addition of hearing some female throwing up big time in the toilet with the eco sound and the final chock cough spit at the end with usual slam of the door finish.
I let Sean (The Manager) know this and that we wanted out. His response was that he had never had a complaint and that we can leave but still had to pay for the time booked. He offered a few solutions which we took up, as he said we had booked the place so we have to pay for it, regardless if we stayed or not. The solutions were to give us a fan so we could shut the windows and keep most of the road noise out, move the beds from the back room to the front, he would make sure that at 10:00pm he would shut down the kitchen/toilet facilities and open it up at 6:00am, put in an auto insect spray to kill off any spiders. Our response was we still wanted out and if he got an inquiry take it and we would move out.We moved the bed at night ourselves and back again in the morning incase we needed to get out due to a new booking.
The 10:00pm sharp shut down did not happen, but was earlier than the first night. We could here hosing down and cleaning up with the rubbish bags and the final shutting of doors. The road noise was less but could have been better if the windows could be fully closed. We were woken every morning with the constant slamming of a door and the noise from the toilet and kitchen facilities, but not as early as the first night. The insect spray was put in the unit and not in the back bedroom so more insects turned up and I had to rescue a cricket. There seemed to be no end to the noise and know sign of a new booking to allow us get out of a bad situation so in the end, with one night to go we just had to get out.
We believe that we have been poorly treated and wounder about the legality of that building as we also noticed that the toilet overflow pipe finished over top of one of the beds and the vented waste drain was exposed in the back bed room, this along with the thinness of the wall with no sound proofing, and wonder what would happen if the kitchen caught fire and what would prevent the fire from spreading to the room we were in.
If you want stay up late and get up early with no sleep in between listening to toilet and throwing up sounds then this is the place for you
