I traveled to this resort with my wife and two children at the end of June 2008. We were generally disappointed in the resort, it's staff and service. I enjoyed St Lucia, it's a beautiful island but will definitely not return to this resort.
The downside:
1. Resort is old and run down.
2. The pools and property were dirty and not cleaned regularly
3. The ocean was extremely rough with a severe under toe, I would caution anyone from swimming in the waters at the beach. Supposedly this is because the resort is located on the Atlantic side of the island. The Caribean Ocean side is much calmer.
4. Service was incredibly slow and painful. Getting a drink often took 15 minutes plus.
5. Dining choices were limited. They only have 1 buffet restaurant and 2 a la carte restaurants. Some nights we could not find anything appropriate for the children to eat at the buffet restaurant.
6. On the Friday of our stay the locals took over the place. Many of them young or young couples. Many acted inappropriately and walked around with open liquor bottles. Not the kind of thing I wanted my kids to be exposed to.
The Upside:
1. The island is beautiful, be sure to hire a car and driver and explore.
2. The local people around the island were very pleasant and polite.
3. The kids club was very nice, my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it.
4. They have a nice waterslide as part of the pool.
5. The A La Cart restaurants were very nice, clean and offered excellent food.
6. The Spa was very good, it is new, clean and featured great service.
I would consider going back to the island but not this resort.
