We have just returned from the Coconut Bay after a 10 day visit. The hotel is very large and has good pools as well as an adults only pool for those who dont appreciate children..
The food is reasonably good and varied in the Coconut Walk buffet but the "Bellagio italian" was superb and the "Silk Asian" restaurant was also good.
The resort is on the Atlantic side of the ocean so the water can be choppy but if you use the pools this is not a problem.
Overall a good base but if you are looking for a resort in the action, on the caribbean sea, or want a bath ( showers only here!) they you should try elsewhere but will pay for the priviledge!!!

We planned this as a girls getaway for 4 days in May. Busy moms with 7 kids put together we came to do nothing but relax on the beach. That's what we did. This was a great place because there wasn't many people on thursday and fri. By Sat it became busy. There was enough chairs and shade all over the resort. The pools were a little dirty with leaves and sand but hey you are near the beach. The great thing was the hammocks and outdoor beds.
When we arrived on thursday we tryed to make reservations for the two restaurants and they said that night it was booked full. Well we decided to check out the restaurant to see if there was any cancellation that night and it was empty. Also the restaurants and buffet area are closed down Saturday nights because they have a Carribean night by the tennis courts. It was excellent. The food all over was good and plentiful.
The bar wasn't the best. We tried the fruit drinks, not great. The wine was bitter. The best was their beer. It tasted great.
We were on the first floor. We did have problems of the workers waking us up at 7:00 but we didn't care because we got to sleep during the day.
4 days was plenty of time to spend in this resort. A couple we met was 7 days and they said it was too long even with excursions. Overall we had a great time.

Stayed for 2 weeks end of April 2008. We have 2 kids - aged 8 & 4. Great selection of pools - quiet ones for adults, fun ones for kids. Water slides and Lazy River were great fun. The boys enjoyed the kids club - very friendly, and it helped to keep them out of the sun in the afternoons. Restaurants good - the Italian and Asian need to be booked the day before and make a nice change from the buffet (which has lots of choice). Spa is a nice treat if you are inclined.
Beach is lovely though sea a bit too choppy for snorkeling / swimming.
I'd recommend taking a taxi island tour early on (we paid £90 for the day and they provided booster seats). Allows you most freedom and you can see most key sights in one day, then you can revisit favourites later on and plan to linger.
Extremely handy for the airport (2 minutes!) and there are only a couple of flights in and out daily so not a disturbance.
Staff very helpful/friendly.

We stayed at Coconut Bay Beach the week of April 12/08 and had a fantastic time!
The food was good, the place was kept very clean, and the staff there were outstanding!
Our room was large, and housekeeping did an excellent job of making sure that it was up to par every day.
We had a slow draining sink, asked our attendant if she could have it checked, and it was taken care of within a half hour - the time we went to breakfast and had returned.
The view from the Premium Ocean View is worth the upgrade.
We enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere at the adult pool, and also had a great time on the larger beach at the other end of the resort.
We took a half day "Couples Escapade" tour, (ask for Stewart James!), and were treated like royalty. It was also my birthday, and Stewart made the day extra special in many ways for my
husband and I.
Yes, the beach has some sea grass that washes up...who cares? It's cleaned every day.
Yes, the place is more remotely situated and you need to take a car to get to any real shopping, but, who cares?
If you want to spend time in a mall that bad, stay home.
And besides, being out of the hub is a good thing, and, just a touch romantic...
Will we go back?
You bet...this resort is the best value for the dollar on the island, and you will not be disappointed.

Cheers!

We visited St Lucia last week for my Uncle's wedding at the Coconut Bay Resort and Spa. 14 of us went on the holiday / wedding trip, ages ranging from 17yrs to mid 50's and we all enjoyed it as much as each other. Me and my partner are 25 & 26.

We flew with Virgin, which meant that from the minute we boarded the plane, we were all inclusive. Recommended! Plus the plane was only half full going both ways, so we could stretch out. Two people to every four seats!

On first impressions when we arrived late at night, it seemed odd that the lobby, restaurant, bar and entertainment area, as well as the access to the rooms, were all open to each other. However, this turned out to be a great feature of the hotel. Especially as there were a few of us, it meant is was an open space where we could all sit together, and always have someone we knew in sight. It gave the hotel a great 'lets all join in' atmosphere.

The Pool areas off of the lobby were lovely, bright and fresh. The beach was very well kept to the left of the hotel, but more rugged and natural to the right.

We spent most of our time in the Adults pool area which we nicknamed 'Saga Corner'! But it was really relaxing and it felt like you were in your own private area. Perfect!

The gardens did not have a twig out of place. The gardener even hand picked us some flower petals to throw on the wedding day.

The rooms were spacious yet comfortable, the air con very efficient, and the balconies had great views.

All the staff were very helpful, happy and chatty. Junias on the beach bar was so pleasant, bringing drinks and sandwiches round in the afternoon. And Big Ted and Sting Ray on the main bar always had cocktail ideas!

The best i think was H in the late bar and nightclub. There was only 4 of us who wanted to dance but he organised a DJ and food for us and kept the drinks flowing!

My only niggle about this resort, is that the lobby bar closed at about 12am and the nightclub at 1am. It would of been nice to drink a little later some nights as you are in the pool till nearly 7!

The good thing about the bars in this hotel was that not only were local basic drinks like rum, brandy etc, available, but they had Heineken and Piton beer on draught, Malibu, baileys, wines, pernod etc. All the same drinks that you'd find behind the bar in your local. The fruit drinks are just what you need to refresh your pallet in the middle of the day too!

The a la carte restaurants were fantastic, however, you don't get much food on your plates so feel free to order two or three of each course. The buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner had such a wonderful range of foods. The fish of the day was always excellent!

The wedding services were second to none. The co-ordinator was lovely, on hand everyday to sort any last minute things. The gazebo and function room (building) was decorated with fresh flowers. We had champagne coming out of our ears! The meal was out of this world aswell.

I could go on forever about how much I enjoyed my week here, we've only been back 4 days and are planning to go again next year. I wish we could go back today, but I suppose I have to go to work! :(

I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

M&M Cumbria x

Ps. the hot tub is a must last thing each day, followed by a Pina Colada before changing for dinner!!!
