My husband, 20 month old son and in-laws recently stayed at the Coconut Bay Resort & Spa and loved it. The resort has now opened their Coco kidz club up to accept kids under 3, and they were phenomenal with our son. It was great because we were able to have a fun family vacation while still having relaxed adult time.

All of the hotel staff were very good at anticipating our son's needs and we never felt out of place with a busy toddler. The resort was exceptionally clean and the food was great. There were 4 pools to choose from in addition to a spray park for the kids and water slides. The spa was very refreshing and relaxing with the prices ranging from very a reasonable $35 for a facial to a steep $100.00 for a set of nails.

One of the reviews noted that there was a constant breeze at the resort due to it's location on the island. My family was very appreciative of the breeze at it helped to keep the heat and humidity bearable, especially for the smaller tots who don't tolerate the heat as well.

All in all we would return with out a doubt.

“Real Value”

Coconut Bay Resort & Spa

Really great value. Windy beach but nice.
Very, very close to the airport (less than 10min drive)
Slightly older property (formerly a ClubMed).
Staff superb. Nobody solicited us for tips or stuff,
and the booklet in our room asks that you do not tip
the staff. We prefer the atmosphere when the staff
are not jockeying for tips yet the service is excellent
because they hire nice people.
Rooms are spacious and clean! Water pressure in
shower a little weak.
Pool areas are clean and spacious. Beach is good
although perpetually windy.
On the very plus side of things, this resort is rated
as excellent for kids but travelling with all adults (11 in
our group) nobody felt as though the kids were hard
to getaway from. I would think this is due to the fact that
the property is spralling and there is a great adult pool
and bar tucked away.
There are no neighbouring resorts, so you are not
tagged with the requisite wrist bands nor are there any
beach towel check-in/outs. There are plenty of beach chairs
so reserving in the early am was not required even though
the week we were there, the resort was at 100% capacity.
The food was very good, and varied but I know there
are some people who wouldn't agree. You can drink
the water, unlike in D.R. or Cuba.
The restaurants are a waist of time, but we feel that way
at any resort.
Off site excursions were good. The land and sea "Joy's Island"
I would highly reccommend and we would repeat this if ever
we had the chance. The Zip-line is good but if you've
done it in Costa Rica, this is a kiddie ride in comparison.
The rain forest hike also came highly reccommended from
others in our group. All in all, for what we paid, we were
all pleased and would go back.

“Great Spring break for families”

Coconut Bay Resort & Spa

Apr 21, 2008

We spent a week in the resort with another family (both sets of children between 3-5) and this holiday was a great break. The accomodation was good not luxurious but ideal for the beach/pool type of holiday we were looking for. Cleaned daily and insect/ant free.
We enjoyed the close access to the pool and beach and the children were very safe in both. As other travellers say the breeze from the sea is a very welcome and refreshing but be careful not to get sun-burned.
The mix of food outlets was good but the standard and variety of the food varied especially in the main buffet dining. Breakfasts were best, lunch and dinner did not always hit the mark. The BBQ lunches and nights were excellent.
I can not rate the entertainment for the children as none of ours participated but there was always activities being organised.
The staff were friendly throughout the hotel and in the times were we thought the service was not good enough , they did all they could to put things right. Overall, a thoroughly great break for all of us and would recommend this for young families.

Our Family just got back from Coconut Bay Resort & Spa. We had a fabulous time there. We stayed from April 12 - 19/08. The facilities were beautiful.
There were plenty of activities to participate in if you wanted but the staff didn't try to hard to coax you into it. We found the staff for the most part very attentive and helpful.
The only downfall we had was at the coconut walk buffet restaurant. They only took drink orders from you when you first sat down and never offered a refill. They were suppose to clear your plates when you were done each course but they let them pile up on the table. Three different breakfast meals the waitress forgot completely to bring us coffee after we had ordered it. The food however was great and the selection was amazing.
The Beach Bites Grill was great for fast food and my son practically lived there between swims.
The pools and grounds were clean and there was more then enough staff on at all times to assist you.
Our overall experience was quite good and we would have no problem going back again.

“best holiday ever”

Coconut Bay Resort & Spa

We can't believe the bad reivews on this resort. These people should stay at a Sandals resort for four times the money with their high expectations.
We loved it, the food was great, no problems getting a reservation at the ala carte places, in fact we ate there 5 nights in a row. The lunch bufffet and barbeque was much better than any other resort I have been to. The staff were very helpful and friendly, asked for anything and we got it promptly.
Yes the beach had some sea grass, so what, it is on the ocean, what do you expect.? The pools were great and no problem getting lounge chairs, which at most resorts is impossible. Our room was always clean and no smell!
Sure, the north side has better beaches but it is way more expensive. We got a great value for our money and would definitly go back!!!
