“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

First the plusses of this resort...There is alot to do in a relatively compact area but still not crowded. Very good layout. The resort is clean and the staff is the friendliest I have experienced yet and I have travelled quite a bit. This gives a happy and social vibe to the guests. Junias the bartender is the best. 5+ stars for him. We specifically asked for a certain type of room because my dad has a hard time walking and to my amazement got exactly what we asked for. We stayed on the adult side.

Down side. The adult side pool bar needs to change the hours or extend them a bit. The party would just get started and they would close at 6. Perhaps stay open till 8pm. The location is on the Atlantic not the Carribean part of the island. Having said that, it is not a far drive to the better water. The resort beach itself looked better than what I saw at other locations and the breeze actually was a plus.

Overall I would highly recommend the place for families or adults because you get the best of both worlds.

In all fairness to Coconut Bay Resort, a review from Michelle M from Wisconsin is simply unfair, if not untrue.
We stayed at the resort at the same time, 21 Dec, 2012 - 05 Jan, 2013, 10 people five rooms (our kids in 2 rooms Dec 21 - Dec 29 only).
Rooms are more than adequate, beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are the right size, water is warm and not luke warm. Not once was there a problem with the water.

2 x 4 , if there ever was one, is for your extra protection, in addition to a lock on the door. The Adult side of the resort is perfect. As for the small pool, it is the one by the beach bar, there are two other large pools in the resort.
I met a couple from Wisconsin at the beginning, and am not surprised they were tripping, they would trip on a flat surface. After all, free drinks have a downside.
Rusted signs? Where is that comment from?
The resort looked run down? Is that comment from looking too much in the mirror? Because the resort is most certainly not run down.
The beach width varied, depending on a tide, but was certainly not tiny, ever. Sea weed was there, but was often picked up by a tractor as Michelle said.
I absolutely do not believe that she waited an hour for food at the Beach Grill, simply impossible.
I cannot comment on cable TV problem, in light of the rest of her review, I do not think it is true.
Entertainment was there EVERY night, but you have to get your you know what, up the stairs. There were various entertainers in the lobby and on the stage by the pool throughout the day and evenings.
Staff were wonderful, , NO PROBLEM, being their modus operandi. But when you pay for an all-inclusive but expect a butler service, YOU have a problem.
In addition, the hotel water sports centre was a topper. A great, great staff, with Bruno in control, super atmosphere, a reason enough to keep coming back.
We go on vacations abt 6 times a year, various places. This one, we will absolutely, without a doubt visit again.

Room Tip: Ocean View rooms carry a premium, but face the same way as Garden View rooms. Garden View Rooms are...

We were there from Dec 30 to January 6th and loved it and thought it was great for families. We travelled with our 2 year old and she had a great time. There is so much there for kids of all ages to do. All the staff were wonderful and so friendly with our daughter. Our housekeeper Maryanne was great and friendly. We also loved our favourite server Etto and our favourite bartender Small J. The people booking the tours were easy to deal with and they accomodated us and our tour guides were great. And my spa treatment was out of this world.

The hotel had an exceptional, interesting and unique design and was layed out really well. And it was right on the ocean. It was hot but had a constant ocean breeze which made the temperature just right and the Island itself is beautiful.

The set up of New Year's was exceptional. Also the night with Carribbean entertainment and dinner by the pool was amazing.

The only complaint we have is that we 3 times tried to arrange for paintball and each time it fell through. The paintball seems to be mismanaged. Other than that, the hotel was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our week there. We would definitely go back.

My friend has previously reviewed this hotel with respect to our visit over New Years with our two families (4 adults and 7 "kids" aged 16-20) and I agree with most of the positive comments recently posted. Our teens had a blast. They are a little more flexible I think than most adults (no paintball? OK let's play basketball). I just wanted to add to the comments about the beach. I love beaches of all kinds. My one concern in going here was the negative comments about the beach. I LOVED the beach and the water. I have been to Turks and Caicos and the BVI's and I'm not sure what people are talking about but it looked Caribbean to me! Yes it was rough and windy which was awesome! Maybe if you can't swim you might be concerned but we all swam out to the raft and jumped off. It was great. We brought snorkeling equipment with us and there is a small reef to the left and out a bit from the raft and we saw some great fish. The sand was soft and white and the kids played volleyball and threw the football on the beach. You can go for a decent walk. Yes there is some seaweed in the water but we are from Ontario Canada and we have seaweed in our lakes here too. It's nothing we aren't used too and wasn't huge or anything as most of it is cleared from the beach. To me this was a "real" beach. Kind of wild, lots of fun!!

Hello C Bay, it's the Apple Martini Lady. Our two week stay (Dec. 24 - Jan. 7) was wonderful. Relaxing and fun. The staff always have a smile on their faces and always ask how you are doing when passing by. There was a nice selection of food at the buffet, and the Restaurants were beautiful with great food. You can always find a chair by the pool, and towels were always available during the day. The entertainment in the evening was wonderful, with different theme nights and great bands to listen to. It was great sitting there enjoying a drink while listening to the music, people dancing if they wanted to. The staff also got into the music as well by dancing with the guests or by themselves (Fatta with the beer keg.....loved that, i told you that you should be part of the entertainment group lol). All in all my family and I had a wonderful time and will be back. But the thing that stands out the most was the way some staff members came to see us off while waiting for our taxi. They gave big hugs and wished us well (Mitch & Hami I will miss you and your smiles the most), we have been to many many resorts in our years as a family, but have never had that family feeling like I did here. A special thanks to Giselle our cleaning lady, you are a wonderful person and you were always making sure we were ok. I had a chance to meet the general manager, and he is a really nice person with some great ideas. Thanks again everyone for a relaxing vacation, hope to see you all again! :))

We stayed from the 1st january till 8th january in the splash side with our 16 mth old. Having stayed previously at the Body Holiday in St Lucia this was not on that par but as a family it met our needs. The pools were excellent, the kids pool with its easy beach style gradiant into the pool was excellent for our young son. The quality of food was excellent. Delicious, fresh food and in abundance. People who say otherwise either have ridiculously high expectations, like unhealthy options or don't have good taste buds. A particular big thank you to mary on omlettes for tirelessly and quietly delivering delicious omlettes every day. The waiting staff in the buffet and restaurants are excellent and you are rarely left so long with an empty plate on the table or your water not full. Shalander is excellent, smiley and so professional and made such an efforto to enterian our young son Edward. Fifi also. I read on reviews that the front desk team are not that friendly, again totally untrue. They could not be more friendly. Lenita and co. Kids club, Mia and Alice are also great and I recommend kids club to those wanting a little break. People who had older kids said there children loved it so much they wanted to continue going. The only drawbacks I think of is that if you are a beach lover and dream of looking out onto clear carribean waters this isn't the resort for you. Its choppy, and merky and windy and whilst great for kite surfing not a beach paradise. Being a pool person it did not deter us. The rooms are pretty are dated but usable again not top of our priority in considering a location but if it is then bear in mind. The shower though works but its no power shower. To summarise, it was the ideal winter break for us. Would we return no, but not due to any fault with Coconut bay, just a lot of different hotels and countries to visit. A good 3 star resort.

Room Tip: higher floors in splash have sea views.
