“great week in paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

Upon arrival at the Hewannorra airport when checking in at customs - there is a separate line-up for families with children - wonderful idea.
All airports should have this setup.

The resort was great, and the 3 grandkids loved it. It was a 5 minute drive from the airport, and we were on the beach within 15 minutes of arrival. We were greeted with cold towels and a glass of rum punch. The kids were given their own glass of fruit punch. They especially liked the swim up bar. There was even a menu for kids drinks on the .. sponge bobs, bob the builders, slushies etc.... The food was always fresh, the dining room clean, and all the staff were wonderful.

The resort had a beach b-b-q on Saturday night, and the tables of food were absolutely wonderful. The caribbean night was complete with fire dancers and a limbo show. On Tuesday night, there was a country and western night, complete with b-b-q ribs, and so much food to pick from. We walked on the beach everyday, and it was very well kept, the seaweed was removed 2-3 times daily. This was a very clean resort and well kept resort.

I would highly recommend the Coconut Bay resort for families as there is plenty to do, including a lazy river ride, and water slide. There is a play area for the kids, with swings, slides and a splash pad. There is a shop upstairs where you will find a variety of local items, souvenirs, and also sunblocks, chips, clothing and duty free items. The beach grill is open from 10am to midnight, for burgers, fries, nachos, wraps and salads...

Couldn't ask for more....

Room Tip: All rooms view the ocean.... the splash section is for families, and harmony section for adults only...

Yet another of the +200 group to hit this resort Jan 15-22.
Kudos to the staff for msking this an amazing trip. Very friendly people, theme nights were great. I personally LOVED the constant breeze from the east, made the heat bearable.
"Da Joker" at the starlight lounge bar was a great comedian, Big Ted (head bartender) always helpful. Jill at the buffet always greeted us with the biggest smile and friendliest hello. Laimmi did a great job organizing our tours and a la cartes. Our maid (rm 315) did a great job, always decorating the rooms with swans, and flowers.
Food was great, our small group of 6 found the caribbean "a la carte" the best, the asian a close 2nd, buffet never let us down either.
I never went in the pools, both myself and my wife LOVE the ocean, so I did all my swimming and snorkeling there. Snorkeling was better on the tour, unfortunately the constant waves stir up the sand and silt alot at the resort.
We also got the $250 room credit, and both enjoyed a great couples massage, and some great gifts from the upstairs gift shop.

Room Tip: we had a room near the lobby on the ground floor as my wife has a bad knee and wanted less walking t...

We are a lively couple in our early 50's from the UK. We take 3 holidays a year from all around the world, so have visited many countries with great hotels and accomodatng staff. The Coconut Bay for us though was fantastic, one of the best relaxed, spacious, friendly hotels we have been to in a long while, with no faults what so ever. When I say spacious... in our first week, the hotel was at full occupancy!!! we were a little worried we would be fighting for places in the restaurants, poolbeds, beach etc. Well, you would never have guessed it, we kept wondering where everyone was as there was so much space across the resort. You had an adult section, a middle area then a kids area with slides we used and a lazy river plus beach and beach and more beach, and not forgetting all the gardens : ] The room was huge with 2 x kingbeds and comfy cane furniture - R129 on the groundfloor on the splashside, no noise what so ever as again we thought it might be as that area is especally for families. Annetta our maid looked after us, putting flowers and decorative towels on the bed and towells were always changed when I left them in the shower. Thanks agan Annette x
The food was very tasteful with lots of choice... I came home 8lb heavier. The staff in the buffet restaurant were amazing, once they knew our names they always called us by them. Even some of the staff I didn't know so well would walk past and call me by my name. If we could recall everyones names we would, Our special thanks and recommendations go out to Etto, Marvin, Jill and Petula - they were FAB every single day, whether it was at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even the cleaners that worked in the lobby area were GREAT, especially Jean who hugged we dearly one night to tell me how lovely I looked. Thanks again Jean. The swim up poolbar was a favourite place fo us in the heat of the day with great cocktails and service always given by Wonda and the guys - sorry don't remember all the names. The mgt were also so approachable, friendly and helpful. John the Ops Manager and Ed who organised an amazing reggie night at the adult pool!!!!! So,our recommendation is 5 stars, go and experience for yourselves... we will be going back for sure.

Whoops I tell a little white lie..... and I did speak about this to the reception. In the lobby bar after 10pm for some reason they stopped serving drinks in glasses and used plastic cups!! It wasn't a problem if you asked for a glass, however I never got to understand why they did this. Hopefully they won't do this any more in the evening?

I book the Coconut Bay Resort in St. Lucia AGAINST the advice of my travel agent whom had been told that the resort was old and dated and not very good. I am thrilled to report that is NOT TRUE. Our experience ( all 12 of us ) was truly amazing!!!!.We upgraded our room on the "Harmony" (adult) side of the result which gave us a spectacular view of the beach. The rooms were light & airy and besides the 2 queen beds also had a love seat & chair. The food was AMAZING and staff went out of their way to serve you. Al-a-carts could be booked the day before and you could visit them more than once. Wednesday we were entertained with a spectacular Western BBQ poolside and the entertainment was great. Special shout out to Elaura at the front desk ,Small Jay at the adult bar ( very engaging! young man!) and Thomas who sold his trinkets on the beach. The wind is always with you at this South Atlantic paradise but they are warm winds which makes it very comfortable to play in the sun. Air Canada vacations offered a $250.00 room voucher ( per couple) which we applied to our excursions and I highly recommend the "Sail & Snorkel" We just returned home yesterday and had a very quiet stay which was good for us as we never had to wait in line for anything. Love this place and I would go again! (Did I mention it is wonderfully close to the airport and you DO NOT notice the planes)

Room Tip: Ask for the upgrade to 3rd or 4th floor on adult side- great view of the ocean

We are a family of 4. Children ages 9 and 7. We have travelled to the Caribbean every year to different places. St Luca is of the most beautiful islands we have been to. It is not a poor island relative to most others so we didn't feel unsafe or harassed. The people are very laid back and friendly.

The resort has so many great things to offer! Some of the highlights for us were: comfortable beds (very important as we stayed for 2 weeks), waterslides right beside the ocean, lazy river, great pool for kids, awesome kids club (biggest one we have seen with its own water park), donkeys we fed most mornings, cotton candy and popcorn, huge drink menus (both alcoholic and non), great food with lots of variety, fun entertainment, the craft market at the resort 3 times per week and so many others.

We highly recommend this resort! We have been to Beaches in Jamaica and found this resort better and cheaper.

Off resort we recommend the botanical gardens, catamaran tour with snorkeling, diamond waterfall,Tourelle waterfall and zip lining in Dennery. A really awesome thing you don't want to miss is a drive to the lighthouse. This isn't advertised anywhere but our van driver took us up there. The view is phenomenal as you can see both East and West of the island. Even the drive there was awesome. We also did the drive in volcano but there really wasn't much to see there.

The staff was amazing. Vernon gave the most amazing yoga classes right beside the ocean! Samantha in the kids club was wonderful with the kids. The water aerobics was lots of fun and good exercises. There was many other great staff in the bars and restaurants. A shout out to Marcelus who sold crafts on the beach.

This is a great choice. You will not be disappointed!! This resort exceeded our expectations.

My husband, Rob and I stayed at the Coconut Bay Resort and Spa from 30th December - 13th January 2012 and had a fabulous, relaxing holiday with everything you could wish for in a resort. We stayed in the Harmony Suite for adults and our room was large and comfortable, with a wide screen TV that did show English films and World News - ideal! Can't think what the person who moaned about the lack of channels was talking about!!! The Harmony Suites had their own adults only pool, which is not big but does the job when you want to cool down!! There were literally loads of sun beds with views of the ocean as well as round the pool, which has its own bar where we enjoyed many happy hours chatting with the bar staff who were all really friendly and fun loving. I think they will remember Rob in particular as "Rob the Builder" and me as "Rob the Builder's Wife"!! In particular we would both like to mention MARCELL, ACON, FATTA AND SHANE who made our stay at Coconut Beach memorable and enjoyable - the drinks run freely throughout the day and there are plenty of cocktails to try as well as English brand spirits, which all went down a treat!!

There are three restaurants apart from the buffet restaurant where you can enjoy a varied cuisine, all served beautifully in air conditioned restaurants. We actually did them all twice during our fortnight, with no problem booking in. They have a BBQ night twice weekly by the kids pool, with entertainment going on whilst you eat, which was most enjoyable! We were also invited to the adults only al fresco evening by the adult bar but I think you have to be on the top floor to get an invite but don't hold me to that!!

If you want to venture out for a romantic meal, try "Dasheens" at the top of the Pitons - truly magnificent! Make sure you get there for about 5.30pm so that you can watch the sun set whilst you enjoy a pre-dinner drink. You can get a taxi from the excursions man in the Reception, whose name escapes me, but who was really helpful and friendly. We found a couple to share a taxi which took us there (about 45 minutes), and the driver waited for us and brought us back to the hotel. It's abit pricey for the meal, but well worth it. Dasheens is in a hotel and if you can, get them to show you one of their rooms. My jaw literally dropped at the sheer splendour and beauty of it. Apparently Amy Winehouse stayed at the hotel when she was alive and I can see why - it really is beautiful and you could stay in that room for days, luxuriating and enjoying eating, swimming in your own pool and sleeping outside in your mosquito covered 4-poster bed (ahhhhhhh - perhaps in a different life or if we come up on the Pools!!!)

We did the catamaran and island trip, which was really enjoyable as well as Zip Wiring in the banana plantation, which was really good fun if a little hairy for me anyway (the wrong side of 50, that's me!!)

Don't listen to the negative people who quite honestly find fault with everything and everywhere they go no doubt. I always wonder what sort of lives these people have that they moan and groan for the sake of moaning - saddos who obviously expect other people to make their holiday for them rather than them making their holiday for themselves. We can all find bits and pieces that don't quite cut it, but at the end of the day your holiday is what you make it and we thoroughly enjoyed both the hotel and St Lucia. We will return one day and perhaps stay further up the island, not because Coconut Bay wasn't right for us, but because it is good to try new places and perhaps him in doors might treat me to a couple of nights at the Pitons ( I can dream can't I?!!!

Hope this helps you to make what we found to be a good choice!

Room Tip: Room 458 in the Harmony Suite was on the top floor (there is a lift) with fab views of the ocean
