“An absolute gem”

My wife and I have stayed here many times over the past 10 or so years. It makes a great getaway. The hosts (owners) provide excellent service and the restaurant is "Fine Dining" at it's best. Each room is unique and very liveable. The little town of Port Stanley is perfect for a weekend walkaround. Check their web site for specials. The suites are particularly nice. Last week was still up to their usual standards. Since the weather was nice we were lucky enough to be able to have supper under the Gazibo. An extra treat.

We stopped for the night at Port Stanley (very cute village on the lake) and asked around some locals. They told us the Inn at the Harbor and the Kettle Creek Inn were the best places to stay so we found the Kettle Creek Inn cute and went there. We were just walk in and got the last room of the house and they were kind enough to give us a discount.

But when we walked in the room there was an awful smell. We tried several things (like air conditioning or closing the bathroom door) thinking it might be it but the next morning we realized that the room was next to the garbage collection and that was where the smell was coming from.

We mentioned it to the owners on check out and they seemed to know that this was a problem but could not do anything about it.

Also their breakfast is cold only (except on weekends) and was poor.

I feel bad having to give such a low rating for this place but I thought with just minor adjustments it can be so much better. The people were very nice and the service was good.

If you go to Port Stanley do not miss the housemade ice cream place on the main street before the bridge, it's awesome.

Room Tip: Get rooms located in the front of the building, away from the back yard.

We stayed for four nights. You can get a package that includes one or more dinners -- make sure to take advantage of this -- good value and delicious food. We ate our breakfast in the garden every morning, and had our dinner there one evening too. Finally we had our tea there at night. Very relaxing.

We stayed in the Maule suite, and don't know if all the suites are laid out the same way, but our quarters were rather cramped. The suite had a very small bedroom in which the queen bed pretty much filled the space. There wasn't room to put our suitcase down, and though the closet contained a luggage rack and an ironing board, there was no place to set them up, except in the living room which was ample in size. The fridge was in the bathroom, and there was no vanity. Awesome Jacuzzi tub for 1 person, too small for any hanky-panky, also it was located in the bathroom, which was on the far side of the suite from the bedroom. Cute suite, but cramped.. Breakfast was continental and very ordinary.
The restaurant was awesome for lunch and supper, and I definitely recommend trying the fish dishes.
Will we be back, maybe, but for sure we would stop for supper.

this janurary i had the opportunity to stay at port stanley. having stayed once before at the kettle creek inn, i thought i may expand my destination and choice of lodging. i had made a few calls to other establishments and quickly realized that there was no other choice but staying at the kettle creek inn. upon entering the inn you take in the detail of the well preserved building, the local art adorning the walls and formost the kindness and over the top level of service one is used to seeing in only the best five star hotels. the staff are freindly, helpful, and go out of their way to remember little details and try to see to it your stay is perfect. the chef at the kettle is top drawer and i have yet to have anything rival the food in port stanley. the menu is full of options for any traveller or appetite. breakfast was always fresh, quick and followed by an endless coffee, the lunch and dinner sittings were held in a well appointed dining room complete with linens and fine table servce. the inn features a wide variety of room types to fit all demands from single rooms, suites complete with fireplaces to the master suite,,, very nice. the furnishings are clean, new and spacious. i have stayed at a great many places across north america, and the kettle creek inn is tops in my books. i will never stay anywhere but at the kettle creek inn when in this part of the world,,, ten out of ten,, keep up the excellant work

This charming inn is very well maintained and tastefully decorated. It includes a restaurant that consists of several small rooms, which contributes to the feeling that you are staying in a gorgeous and very gentille country family house. Our guest room was unexpectedly large and included a small fridge, coffee maker, ironing board etc etc. The restaurant dinners are superb, but I would have preferred a cooked breakfast option over the 'just ok' continental breakfast display. We didn't lunch there but the menu looked very good. Overall a very pleasant experience that we will probably repeat at some point.

The inn is in the centre of the old part of town - perfect as far as we were concerned. We also strolled across the beach and down to the large beach area in not much more than 10 minutes.

We booked a two night package with dinner for one night. Upon arrival we were impressed with the friendly host. As we had never been to Port Stanley before he made a point of telling us about the area. I had booked a guest room and when we entered we were surprised at how large the room was. It was the size of a small suite.

The dinner was excellent. We were seated in a room by ourselves with a fireplace and music. The coffee was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. After having coffee with one dinner and two breakfasts the coffee we had at other restaurants didn't taste very good in comparison. We were spoiled after staying at the Inn. The continental breakfast was also very good. It was an upgrade from a typical continental breakfast as it included yogurt, a dish of fruit and of course, the amazing coffee.

Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff and owners were very warm and hospitable. I would recommend this Inn to anyone.
