“Christmas at Carrbridge Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

This was our first visit but will not be the last. From the blazing open fire in the entrance hall to the attentive friendly owners and staff, it was an ideal place to spend Christmas. We had a cosy comfortable twin room with a beautiful view of the hills in the distance and a well appointed bathroom with a very efficient hairdrier. Very useful too to have tea making facilities . Our holiday included breakfast and dinner with good wholesome food, most of it locally supplied. The Christmas Lunch was very enjoyable. The hotel decor is traditional and fits in perfectly with the scenic setting. On stepping outside the hotel, there are attractive river and woodland walks and a few minutes from the hotel is the village shop with a good range of products including postcards of the famous Packhorse Bridge, opposite the hotel.

What we had wanted was a relaxing Christmas in a scenic area and this is certainly what we got, in an extremely welcoming and pleasant atmosphere provided by Teresa and Colin and their staff.

The three night New Year break at the Carrbridge has been excellent. We have had festive breaks at several locations, over the years, but this will go down as one of the best. The cosy atmosphere combined with the excellent rooms, great food and the entertainment has all combined to make this break special. The staff were really good and very pleasant, the feeling was they were enjoying it as much as we were and nothing was a problem to them. Many thanks to Colin and Teresa and all their excellent staff.

My partner and I attended a wedding dance at the Carrbridge Hotel which was a lovely evening. We were greeted by the proprietor when entering the hotel and a lovely fire burning made it so nice on a cold evening.

Although we did not stay I can only comment on our evening which was first class. The buffet that was served was lovely and could not fault the food we received. Well done to all staff!!

My partner and I will be returning here in the coming months not only for food but also to stay. Thanks for a fantastic night.

Stayed here in October 2012. Hotel was at the edge of Carrbridge, right next to the photogenic Carr-Bridge. Room was small, clean and all usual facilities. Large dining room, good food, wide choice and good service. Buffet-style breakfast, well cooked and very wide choice. We were here on a Diamond Holidays Scotish Railways tour 15 - 18 Oct 2012. 3 or 4 coaches each night (we stayed 3 nights only) so the hotel was fairly full of coach tours. My only criticism - Would I have liked it so full if I was travelling independently?

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front facing the quiet (main) road

Stayed here on a Diamond Holidays Scottish Railways tour 22 - 26 October, 2012. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food choice and quality were very good, with buffet breakfast excellent.
Probably spoilt a bit as the three coach loads originally booked in were only one!
Room was modern, spacious, clean and comfortable.
Strangely the lasting impression was the understanding of the hotel manager who greeted us on the coach on arrival after a overlong journey up. Delayed on the motorway made for a 7.30 pm arrival. This is when the evening meal technically finished. Not only had they arranged to stay open for us, but he even thought that we would want to go to our rooms to freshen up first. Well done!
One little niggle....sorry..... there was a hint of smell of sewage in the area.

We stayed hear for 3 days as a base for the highland railways experience. The location was wonderful set by the river and the iconic carr-bridge,guess this is a photo shot that is world wide.
The food at the hotel coupled with excellent restaurant service was a pleasant surprise and also there was the added bonus of evening entertainment. Great!
Just a minor point, There were a couple of occasions when people were overcharged at the bar.

On staying at this hotel on a coach holiday we were pleasently suprised the service provided considering it was a 3 star. The service from all staff was excellent for example, when explaining to a waitress that we were uncertain whether we would like a certain dish on the menu she spoke to the manageress who took her time to come over to us to explain what the dish was and reassure us that if we did not like that this would be changed at no extra charge. All staff were curtious and friendly at all times, nothing was to much trouble.

Room Tip: Request a front view.
