“Hidden gem in Hove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

This was the 2nd time we'd been here and the guy serving remembered us. A nice touch. The meal was so nice, salmon and duck egg to start, monk fish for main and pannacotta for pudding. Delicious.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere and they only ever have one guy serving and one chef who does it all. He is very talented!
My own personal downfall was the monk fish came a bit of pork belly with crackling, which was immence, but the thick crackling broke a bit fo my tooth off! ouch.
It hasn't put me off going back after I get my tooth fixed.

“Excellent food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

If you like fish and seafood then this is the place. Simple choices, great quality, reasonable prices and high quality cooking. Nice relaxed atmosphere and attentive and but not overcrowding front of house/waiter. Made for a great evening all around.

“Friendly, personal & excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

Four of us enjoyed dinner a couple of nights ago.
The place with about twenty covers appears to be run by only two guys a chef & front of house. It worked well, they were running at full capacity but coped with no issues, Probably well worth arriving close to the booked time.
As expected from its name the menu focuses on fish in imaginative dishes all of which was well cooked & presented. The menu is short (usually a good sign) with four choices each of starter main & pud.
The wine list offered bottles from about £19 (which we had & enjoyed) to over £50. All I think are available by the glass. There were some unusual desert wines which rated highly.
In total we paid £171 before service for two sters, four mains, four puds, two bottles of wine £ three glasses of desert wine which is fair value for the quality on offer. Warning; payment is by cash only, they don't accept cards.

“'Stand out' food served by unpretentious waiter (with charm)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

I went here on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago with my fiancé and her mother.

All of the food was of a very high quality and was simply delicious.

The waiter managed to be attentive, helpful, knowledgeable all without being pretentious or stuffy. If only all waiting staff in restaurants were like this!

The owner/ chef had time to chat to us about mushrooming and where he had worked in the past which was really interesting.

I think that the prices were towards the top end of what I normally pay for food when going out, but the ingredients are no doubt expensive too, and I felt that it represented very good value for money overall.
