“in pursuit of the perfect breakfast...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

OK, so the beautiful April sunshine might have added to the experience, but sitting outside was the only place to be today. We both ordered the same Veggie Breakfast, one with scrambled eggs, the other fried. The food was brilliant. There was nowhere to hide with such a meal but the quality of the produce was just fabulous. Perfectly grilled tomatoes and mushroom, little bowl of baked beans (I appreciated that it was contained in that way, a great homemade potato bake, creative sweetcorn cake and the best scrambled eggs. Really, the best! Service was lovely - friendly, not fast, but great when you are reading the Sunday papers and sitting in the sunshine. If I had any complaint at all, or suggestion, it would be that the toast should be sourdough rather than the rather everyday brown sliced bread. Brilliant cooking and The Hove Kitchen goes straight to the top of our list for the perfect Brighton breakfast.

“Great atmosphere and good quality food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We chose this eatery for a quick bite to eat before meeting friends nearby and were not disapointed. The menu choice was excellent and we both plumped for the burger served with shoe string fries which was a great choice. The burger was home made, served on a good bun and accompanied by all you would expect.
I am sure I will return again to sample some of the other more interesting menu choices!
The seating layout is excellent, not too squashed in, so you can be as romantic or noisy as you want and not feel uncomfortable

“Mixed food and Pretty poor service let them down...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Popping into this place on a Saturday lunchtime, we were quickly shown to a table, offered menus and had an order for drinks, taken.

I opted for the ham, eggs and squeak, which was nice. Although the eggs were a little too heavily peppered for my taste. The squeak was more of a spring-onion-champ, but nice nonetheless. My mate's Eggs Benedict, though, was quite cold. It's a shame - since the hollandaise seemed to be just right.

We ordered more drinks during the course of the meal, but this didn't seem sufficient to prevent the waitresses hovering near us and clearing away cups in a way that made us feel that we were being ushered from the place.

Of course, when it came to paying the bill, the waitress who had been surly and uninterested suddenly manifested an interest in our day, and the weather. We didn't tip.

Food that clearly could have been good, spoiled by niggles.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

After needing a venue to host a lunch with friends from all over kent & sussex we needed a meeting place that would cater for us and our children, this was the perfect venue, nothing was too much trouble for jade our lovely waitress, she set us up our own area with a table for the kids loaded with toys and colouring in books and just was amazing with the children, the food was great and also was the atmosphere, relaxed but bistro like, fab fab fab I'm already planning our next trip to Hove and this place will certainly be returned to. Fully recommended to people with children wanting to enjoy a meal and feel comfortable with children

“A lucky find of a perfect place for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

We walked in off the street by chance, and have had such a delicious lunch we will definitely come back specially. Simple food done well. "I love this place" says my 9 year old. Very friendly staff and quirky but not overpowering decor. A mix of customers of all ages, united by feeling relaxed and well-fed...
