The Budget Hotel De Plashoeve is an interesting combination of basic comfort at a rock bottom price. Located adjacent to a marina just off the A2 about 15 minutes south of Amsterdam, it's worth considering as an alternative to double-priced budget hotels near Schiphol or in town. The hotel is set in a residential neighbourhood of high-end homes lining a large lake. The marina serves pleasure boats, and has a restaurant, modest bar, and two floors of clean, basic rooms. There is free parking adjacent: the bartender handled check-in quickly (offering breakfast for one additional euro).
The hotel is not accessible and is not suitable for small children because of the unprotected dockside. A flight of stairs leads to upper rooms: they all share a balcony, so keep sliding doors closed when away The rooms had comfortable twin beds with duvet, a small worktable,LCD television, and a refrigerator. The bathroom was clean, the shower had copious amounts of very hot water. The area was quiet at night.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant, the terrace overlooking the boats is a nice place to sit. There is a nice selection of meats, cereals, breads, and yoghurt, coffee and juices, served buffet-style from 7 am. The staff was friendly and I thought this was a comfortable bargain; a nice surprise.
