“Very friendly staff, good food, nice location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

We enjoyed a family weekend here and were pleasantly surprised by the very friendly staff, the lovely location, nice facilities, and good food. The breakfast was among one of the best I ever had and dinner was also great. Staff was very friendly and efficient and especially very kind with children. Some quite specific dietary requirements were handled very correctly. We stayed in 2 of the well-kept houses on the estates. The only tiny minus would be the somewhat weird smell in the bathroom of our specific suite (not in the others), but since we didn't spend most of our time in there, we didn't really mind. Although I don't know the exact prices of all of it as we were invited (and didn't check afterwards...), I do find this a very recommendable place for a (extended) weekend trip -/+ children!

My girlfriend and I have travelled all parts of the world, and nearly nowhere have we found such an allround hit as the 'Landgoed de Holtweijde', everything perfect.
It is not the 6 star perfect you get in Dubai... No, this is genuine and authentic perfect.
The surrounding area is stunning (if you like typical Dutch landscapes).
All the staff is extremely friendly and adapts to the needs of the different target groups (if you are below 40, you will take down the average age, but enjoy the service;)).
The treatments in the wellness centre are very good and not rushed.
The food is Michelin star quality (not sure if they have one, but they should)
Then one thing about the rooms and the interior. It used to be a very traditional 'old school' hotel. The kind you find a lot in England and you either like or hate. The current style is a nice mix of these old elements (the urinals in the main building are classic, not to be mistaken for old...) and renovated elements. If you get that, you will love it. If you don't, you better go for a hotel that used one of these 'prefab refurbishment packages' to make their hotel a boutique hotel.

We stayed at tha Landgoed based on a package (2 nights with dinner / bed/ breakfast with an upgrade to a Royal suite. The suite was quite large, with a very large bathroom, seprate hall with toilet, balcony, all amenties like flat screen TV, wireless, bathrobe ...

We upgraded the dinner from 3 to 5 courses and on the second night took cheese course as well (at €14,50 quite pricey though). Especially the drinks turned out expensive: All suggested wines with the courses are €7,50 / glass and bottles start at €37,50 (we bought some of their wines from the producer for less than 10€)

The pool of the hotel is very nice and quite large. The ambiance and surroundings we liked a lot.

Room Tip: A Royal suite upgrade is something to consider. Ask for a specific decor

I booked a 2 night romantic package including dinner and upgraded to a bigger room with fireplace.

The food was great, and I am quite picky. It is always a surprise as to whether the kitchen and staff remember our vegetarian and pescetarian diet, but this was fortunately not a problem. The vegetarian dishes were creative and of good quality (as were the fish courses for that matter!).

The room was great too, huge size and with an in room fireplace that was not ornamental but had firewood provided which is rare in Holland. Another great thing was a nespresso machine in the room with coffee provided, this I hope more hotels will do! A nice touch was the free fruit in room that could be ordered via room service. Only drawback in the room was the location of the TV, you can't really watch it from the bed. It is better to look outside as the views from the room and terrace were great.

The swimmingpool is fantastic, a 20 meter pool with lots of extras. It is open till late so we could swim in the evening. The fitness is excellent as well, clean, spacious and with modern equipment.

Pets are allowed in some rooms on the estate, in the hotel based rooms they are not so something for everyone (we stayed in the hotel)

Its not a wonder this hotel is commonly reviewed as the best in this part of the Netherlands, I surely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice retreat.

We stayed for the weekend. The rooms are large and comfortable with a terrace facing the horses and a nice garden. Though our diets were not very difficult, the kitchen did not succeed one single time to make no mistakes during dinner. The menu cards were not right, the food on the plates was not right. Besides that the quality of the food was poor as well as the quantity. Conclusion: take a room and eat somewhere else.

Last year I was here for a business trip and slept in the junior suite. The rooms are beautiful and the view is more than beautiful! With such a view you want to wake up every morning. Breakfast is perfect just as the hospitality.

Sole disadvantage was that a lot of dust on the carpet area. Too bad.
