We were really surprise when we entered the first time in the Zwaluw and already been greeted in Swiss German. This evening however the restaurant was closed. The second time we have been welcomed from the other partner who spoke a perfect Dutch (but he came from Germany) and showed us were we could put our bicycle. The menu card does not offer a large selection, but you can select between meat, fish or vegetarian. We enjoyed for the first course a lovely lamham which was nicely prepared with a green salad, a small work of an artist.
Then we had a venison steak which was beautiful rare with 3 different vegetables. We also got nice wine per glasses. The service was perfect, charming and he really looked after us. The only disappointing part was, we ordered 2 espressos.
We got Italian cups, but from my experience it was just strong coffee but not an espresso, no crema and no espresso taste.
We visited several restaurants around De Koog. The Zwaluw and the Quinty's that the only two we can recommend in De Koog. All other the service were extremely slow or food for value did not match.
