“Very nice location but little dirty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

I booked suite room for 2 nights in Newport Hotel. It is very nice quite place next to the lake. Very good for relaxing. It has a nice lobby, friendly and helpful staff.

They gave us a suite in 6th floor (room 604) with nice lake view. In lobby and room free wifi access available. Furnitures in room are a bit old. Need refurbishment, But worst part was the sofa. We could not sit on it. It is chosen wrongly a light yellow color and material keeping the dirt. It really looks so ugly / dirty. On sofa there were some liquid signs. Also on the wall in several parts we saw sticky liquids. Of course they are made by customers but was not cleaned well.

Finally next day we got room 304. It was little better but still sofas does not look clean at all. Other negative point is the covers on the bad. In a double bad they put 2 singe cover but even small for one person. You can be partly covered only

Breakfast is including room price and it is very good. Well enough choices.

I would like to stay there again next time but I really hope these sofa's will be replaced till then.

Great location, lovely views.
However the hotel does look a bit of a 80's throwback!
Indonesian restaurant on site okay, but not fantastic.
Breakfast good.

We stayed at the Newport over the Easter week end, really a place to recommend. The rooms are extremely confortable, staff are very helpful and both restaurants are excellent. We will certainly be back

Great location, opposit the harbour, with fantastic views. Take a spacious suite for a little bit more than 100/night and enjoy a stunning view on the harbour and/ or the sea (depends on side).

Quiet and peaceful.

Rooms are a bit outdated, but clean and great value for money. Restaurant for dinner is really great, breakfast is low end.

Service as you expect it from a non-city location: don't expect 5-star staff, but they do their best.

We'd go there again if we are looking for an affordable but still kind-of luxury hideaway with a bice surrounding for walks and a 30min ride door-to-door from Amsterdam.

Staying here at the end of the winter was good. The room had a very tranquil view on the lake (which used to part of a sea). The room was clean and practical. Room decoration is a bit sterile. A bit more colour and furniture would improve home feel. The surroundings of the hotel are good for a nice morning walk.

Decent breakfast buffet with all the things you need.

All in all very satisfied and no complaints.

Room Tip: View on the lake on the higher floors.

I think that this hotel was very good for the price I had it for. We have spend 6 nights in the hotel for Christmas and almost the whole hotel was booked out, but its not a very big hotel, so it was not over crowded.

The rooms are big, bright and have everything that you need. The bed was very soft and comfortable, the only i thing i had to mention is that they didnt have big bed sheets.

The breakfast was really big and you can order on request pancakes, french toast and many more things. For me it was one of the best breakfasts i had in a hotel.

The location of the hotel is beautiful, but not very good for if you have no car, cause its a 10 minute walk to the local bus and a taxi is kinda expensive in the area, if you need to go to Amsterdam and take a taxi its about 50+ euros (one way). You can rent bikes at the hotel and bike around the lake, which is very nice on a warm/sunny day.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends!

I have been staying here 2-3 days per week for the last year -- except for the unfortunate weeks when they are fully booked and I have to go for second best hotels.

The hotel is 20-30 minutes from the business areas of Amsterdam, and a car appears essential. However the prices of all hotels outside the city centre are "normal", compared to the exorbitant prices that other hotels charge for a view of a canal in the city centre.

At the hotel Newport, there is usually a great view over the old harbor or the bay, from the spacious bright 2-room suites. It is always possible to get a good nights sleep in the quiet, comfortable beds. The kitchenette is not really usable -- two small hotplates, and no oven or microwave. However the restaurant is a good standard both for breakfast and evening meals.

The free internet, parking and movies make this really convenient.

I probably tried 15 different hotels in the region before finding this gem. Definitely my favorite hotel in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: The suites are definitely worth the extra small rate -- and often they have a "free upgrade&quo...
