“Good location - good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Good location near A9 good place to start exploring north. Room was large with nice beds. Large bathroom and bath with jacuzzi. fresh towels. it is a pity room did not have any cutlery - would be handy. Could smell the cigaretts when we entered the room , after a few hours with open window it was gone. of Free parking.

The staff are great and the meals are also very good. Parking is plentiful, but if you have to park at the rear it is a walk with baggage to the front. The rooms vary and I was not overly impressed with my comfort room and lack of extras.

Being over the flight path also can make for a noisy night.

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend and as opposed to some of the other Van der Valk Hotels it was noticeable that the one in Akersloot suffers from a blaze attitude due to the fact that people will come anyway because of its great location. Service was just about friendly enough not to warrant major complaints.

One thing we found very annoyng was that whereas the facilities include a swimming pool the pool was not open on time on Saturday- we went there a few times in the morning and only after having to check with reception did the pool eventually open. Then the next morning we, as hotel guests, were told we had to vacate part of the pool because the hotel holds swimming lessons for local children there at the weekends. All in all not a hotel I will go back to in a hurry.

Stayed here on Easter Monday.
Easy to find tight next to the junction A9
On arrival the car park was very busy and we had to park a long way from the door.
Checked in OK, but this is a big hotel and our room must have been 5 minutes walk from reception.
The room was huge with two double beds. Bathroom was bigger than my sitting room at home, with a shower and separate jacuzzi bath.
When we went for tea the restaurant was heaving, mainly with none residents suggesting the food was good.
Ordered our meal and it was spot on, good quality and reasonably priced. Good service too considering how busy the restaurant was.
Breakfast had plenty of choice. I would recommend this hotel.

Another super Van der Valk Hotel. Stayed overnight for Valentines treat. Super large bedroom with walk in shower and bubblebath. Food was very good although we complained that soup came before starter, senior waiter thought we were wrong even though the menu stated that fact. Ideal for coast, Amsterdam, Alkmaar etc.

I stayed at this hotel for one night mid-week and was very impressed. I found the room to be very spacious and exactly what you would want as a business traveller whilst travelling away good work area, comfortable bed, and plenty of space to leave your luggage and possessions in. The bathroom was also very well laid out and clean and also very spacious. Given a room of this size the television was also a good, proportionate size. I ate in the restaurant with a colleague that evening and found it to be very good food and with good service. Although my room rate which I booked by booking.com was very competitive and included breakfast I didn't have time to breakfast following morning. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and also to staying at it again. I have found the Van der Valk brand of hotels throughout Holland to be very pleasing indeed!

Room Tip: Not near the lifts or slamming doors!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2014

I stayed here for an event, and unfortunately I was given a room in an older part of the motel. It was honestly like a ridiculous maze getting to my room, and it seems others may have experienced it similarly, as I ran into other wanderers a couple of times during my first attempt to find my room.

Once there, the room was clean and spacious, although not as modern and up to date as my friends' rooms in the main building--mine definitely was showing its age. Still, despite not having a spa bath, my bathtub was nice and roomy, and the separate shower was okay(although the shower head was an older kind stuck to the wall from a great height).

I think if you were a family traveling by car, the annex might be a really good choice, as there's lots of parking spaces near the doors, but for somebody attending an event and arriving by plane or train, it makes less sense to stay so far off the beaten track.

The daytime receptionist women were firm but friendly, but were unable or unwilling to change my room to one that wasn't in BumF+ck Iowa unless I paid €79 extra per evening. The night duty reception clerk was much more accommodating, at least when it came to cakes, unlocking the pastry case for our hungry and drunken group after hours.

The bar was pleasant, and photos from friends who visited the restaurant looked really amazing. Breakfast was quite okay as well. It seems like quite the local hotspot on a Saturday night, as we saw families and couples who were coming in from nearby areas for dinner.

Room Tip: Be firm and insist upon one of the refurbished rooms in the main building.
