This was the nearest hotel to Nijmegen that we could find that was not fully booked for the night we needed, despite being a weekday. We arrived in the evening and on discovering just how far it was from the centre of Nijmegen, we were pleased that it was a hotel *and* restaurant.
Uh-oh. We had arrived a little after 8pm and were told that the hotel restaurant stopped serving food at 7:30! The receptionist was able to book us into a restaurant about 5 minutes' taxi drive away, but even this stopped serving before our two other colleagues arrived on a later train!
This was already the second issue we had had. On arrival we discovered that the bookings for the five of us were at different rates for the same standard of room. These had been booked by a secretary all at the same time, presumably via a booking website, and we had been told one rate on our paperwork. Nevertheless, it appeared impossible to get the same advised (lower) rate for all of us when we signed in. Not the end of the world, but annoying.
Other than that, personally my stay was OK. Nothing special, but OK. The front of the hotel was being renovated and one of my colleagues complained that this was disruptive to his sleep (I think it was the smell of paint). It suprised me that the hotel was renting out rooms for which building work was actively taking place immediately outside the windows. I was glad that I had been allocated a room at the other side of the hotel.
