“Great estate, even better surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

We stayed here for a wedding of a close friend, which I helped to organize as well. As such, I had been in contact with the hotel staff before the stay and was in close contact with them during the wedding day itself. Staff was very helpful and giving us helpful tips on how to make the wedding day at the estate even more special. Also, they were very flexible when it came to last minute changes, such as speeches that overran, which had an impact on the dinner schedule.

The room we stayed in was clean, beautiful and spacious; bathroom was huge. It was great waking up in the morning, opening up the windows to the balcony and enjoying the great view. Breakfast was of high quality and plentiful. Parking is available right in front of the door.

The day after the wedding we made a stroll through the nearby forrest, which was very enjoyable.

I am not sure whether you can actually book individual stays at this estate, but if you ever get the chance to stay for a night, I would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Room 101 is a great room, with balcony overlooking the backgardens, however, it is right above the m...

Stayed at Rederoord for business; we had a two-day overnight program. Hotel rooms are quite modern, but still fit well with the grandeur and style of the building. Rooms differ much in size, and the rooms in the back tend to catch a lot of the sound of the passing trains. Views are exellent though! Staff and service are welcoming and hospitable. Food (buffet and fixed menu for the group) is of high standard and with much attention to detail- special wishes are no problem at all.
The surroundings are beautiful: large grounds and lots of forest around the landgoed, good for walks! I'd highly recommend Rhederoord to those looking for some peace and calm in relative luxury.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms and the front room above the entrance are very large, the rooms at the back are wi...

The year was 1961. With another student from Antioch College I spent 6 months living at the "Castle at Rhederoord" as it was called. It was a boarding school for international and Dutch children. We lived, ate, slept and taught in this barely heated but beautiful building sharing a room on the top floor overlooking the surrounding fields and woods. We hiked into the back woods to hunt for wild boar (that's the truth), lived on hard cheese, bread and nutella with a hard boiled egg once a week. Jointly we taught students from the ages of six to eleven years. The owners, a German couple, ran the school with the assistance of a cook and a couple of young women who cleaned the entire place. My friend Linda and I with no education credentials were in charge of teaching these children all together in a one-room classroom.. I'm certain that we learned more than they did. While the outside looks much as it did then, I'm only hopeful that the grandeur of the living room and the gorgeous winding staircase in the center of the building remain as vestiges of its glory days.

Room Tip: From the photo of the exterior, it looks identical to the way I remember Rhederoord in 1961.. . but...
