We had a wonderful time on Ameland. We stayed at the Hotel Ameland ( pictured). There seem to be a Hotel Ameland and a Hotel Nes.Hotel Nes is across the street.
The hotel staff is friendly and was very acoomodating when we requested to stay until the end of the day. For an extra 20 Euro we were able to check out of our room when it was time to catch the bus for the last ferry. ( of course this was only possible because the room wasn't booked after us for that day). The breakfast buffet was plentiful and had a nice selection of a traditional European breakfast. The rooms were clean and nice. We had a small TV that had dutch and english channels. We also had a very clean Shower and toilet room.
We got unlucky with the location of room. We booked last minute and got a room on the ground level right by the terrace. It was the hottest day and we couldn't really open the window, because there was constant noise from people sitting on the terrace outside the bar which was only 3 rooms over from our room and there was a REALLY BRIGHT lantern right outside our window so we couldn't really keep the window open at night either. We learned from the information booklet that there are two prices for rooms. The price we paid ( via booking.com) is the price for the rooms without balcony which in our case was located on the front side, ground level near the bar terrace.
Next time on Ameland, we will stay there again, but plan to be very specific about our room.
