“Unforgettable stay on the island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I am reviewing both hotel and restaurant. We stayed for one night in a very comfortable room, well decorated. The adjacent bathroom had a bathtub and a double shower (this hotel is obviously for couples looking for a romantic getaway). There was an extremely uncomfortable noise that made the bed vibrate. Upon checking, it was due to the kitchen's ventilation system. The owner or manager promised to cut it after 10pm, which he did. Although the noise was very loud, I do appreciate the fast and efficient reaction from management who gave us a glass of excellent wine to apologize for the inconvenience. Regarding food, the restaurant is also very good, the high tea is one of the best I had so far, and the only one we could not finish. Avoid the hamburger though, it is not even European-level. All in all, this is a very good place to stay with all required comfort, quietness and charming decoration. The cook should just remove the burger from the menu or learn how to properly mount one :)

The hotel was fully booked, so we had to settle for the restaurant. Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to sit outside on the large terrace (excellent spot to watch the crowds), so we found a table inside. The place looks sharp and the staff is both friendly and (especially for Dutch standards) accurate. We enjoyed the interesting version of classic vitello tonato (with tuna/cheese foam) and a fairly good gamba/pasta main course. The lamb was a bit overcooked but despite the fact that it was not rose anymore, it was still juicy. Desert menu offers a good range as does the wine list. All in all a pretty good place for relaxed and tasty dining for a fair price.

I stayed three nights over a weekend in July and was totally pleased. This is a smaller, upscale escape (boutique hotel) well worth a stay. Hotel just opened in Spring this year. Does not remind you of a hotel, it's more like a good friend gave you his/her place. None of the standard business hotel interior like desk, phone, alarm clock, however you do have a large refrigerator and nice (N)espresso coffee maker as well as large flat-screen TV. 10 rooms only, all very different in size, appearance, and interior decoration. Fast free wifi (20Mbit DL). No room service etc. Plenty of breakfast in the restaurant included w/ stay, almost no lunch needed. Central location, 10-15 min walking distance to the beach and bicycle rental next door. Plenty of shops and restaurants around, by the way, the hotel restaurant itself is excellent and one of the best places to get food on the island!! This is NOT a party island, but you will enjoy the silence at night. With bad weather it might be a bit tricky to stay indoors as there was no table/chairs and you could basically just work/surf while lying on the bed, however, the island is really for staying outdoors. Also, not a lot of shelf space and if you might have wet rain gear there wasn't a lot of space to hang and dry it. We had perfect sunshine so it wasn't a problem. Also, no AirCon. My suite was under the roof and it was cool at night so no problem, but this looked like it could get hot in the summer when the weather is really warm. Make sure to open all windows then at night! Probably best suited for adults w/o kids or pets. Did I mention the food at Zee van Tijd is fantastic?

Room Tip: All rooms are different in size, some have shower and bath, some only shower and/or bath. Check out...

I spent a weekend with my partner for our anniversary and we booked the Royal Suite.
Very nice Suite with bath and shower.
It was a pity that we had twins bed and 2 blankets. Not very romantic for this one.

Anyway, the food is good, and the breakfast really correct! We got a boiled egg, different kinds of bread, butter, honey, peanut butter, nutella, different sorts of delicatessen.. and we could order all the drinks we want.

The staff is very nice and helpful.

Thank you for your welcome!
