“Don't pay too much for this stopover hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything more than a few nights. It does, however, sit perched above a lovely cove. Our room was quite noisy, breakfast is basic, dinner is in a fairly soulless location. Too far for most people to walk to town.
Definitely one for a night or two stopover and no more - especially if you can get it off season for under €75!:)

I only stayed, thank goodness, for one night in this hotel. My room was small, the bed narrow and the air-conditioning did not work. I noticed that one of the electric power points was hanging off the wall. I asked the night porter for an alarm call for 7.30am on the following morning and I never got it.

If you want charm and a relaxing stay, friendly staff, good food then this is for you. If you want a cold glass gin palace with no one talking to you then its not. Breakfast was so enjoyable up on the top of the hotel with a wonderful veiw. Room was spacious again with a great view and cool breeze of the sea. OK I was there in a less busy period but still charming and i would go back again.

Room Tip: Go to the rooms down the cliff they are cool and quiet.

Impossible to stay in the pool (under dimensioned), sun shade broken (all) sun beds broken (most), wifi not working, VAT not included in the prices for the Bar (?). The parking is a nightmare (under dimensioned), breakfast time limited to 10.00 am (consequent crowd)....

The high cost of this hotel does not justify 4 stars and possibly a glorious past (the location is wonderful). One night could be enough......

This hotel has lods of charm. Fantastic view and Great direct access to little Beach. Dó not choose This hotel for wifi, tv, minibar because it is not really there. But if you want To kick back and relax and enjoy Great foods it is excellent. Rooms Are clean and in an country style and have jacuzzi. Reception could be better and interior needs a final touch.

Stayed here only one night. Lovely outlook and pool. Fair walk to town. Parking was difficult. Room smalll with tiny balcony, not a panoramic view as some rooms have! Had a fridge but this only worked when key card in the slot in the door so if out of room all day ...... Warm fridge! No kettle. Huge jacuzzi bath which was nice but limited toiletries. Towels can be borrowed for a deposit. Access to beach very easy but would not be easy for anyone with mobility problems. Lovely beach but course shingle so wear water shoes. Lunch buffet good. Pool lovely lots of seats Bur a ridiculous number of old tired plant pots. Dangerous at times as impede movement around pool. Fewer plant pots Itg no dead plants would be nicer also the huge confer trees directly outside many rooms were in need of felling!!

This is my second stay after 7 yrs..Now under new ownership, The views are amazing, the gardens are lovely...the evening meal is very good. The staff are friendly and work hard. Not all the rooms have air conditioning, and ventilation in the bathrooms that I saw do not work, which means that there is a dampness about and a musty smell.. The breakfast is standard and and desserts are the same each evening and dull. There are some health and safety issues....a step going down from the main hallway has a piece broken of which could cause a fall, a stone seat is loose out by the pool, and much work is need outside of the buliding.
\it is like stepping back in time which, I liked. There is a special spiritual energy around the original building, which was a monastary, and it impels me to sing.It has a magical atmosphere if you are aware.
You can step down into the nearby coves by lift or stair and then walk along the coast path,,,It is very dangerous in parts where the rock face and fence has fallen.Hopefully will be repaired...Go rt out of the hotel and over the bridge along a lovely coast path to different coves....and can keep going for a few miles,,,enjoyed the naked swimming in one of these coves,
Life is always what you make it!! Have fun...It is special, but a little overpriced...
The cleaners work very hard.

Room Tip: ask for a superior room with air con if you want it...Not happy with your room? You can ask to chang...
