“Comfortable stay enroute higher up into Pyrennees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Stayed here as part of 7 night Montserrat Paradore route. La Seu d'Urgell feels very local. The Paradore is comfortable. Food was good. Son contracted serious ear infection and was well attended too and treated in local CAP hospital - take your E11 card for free treatment. The Paradore reception were helpful and recommended local restaurant that provided good home cooking on menu del dia with with bottle of wine, coffee and bread all for 10.50 euros - excellent value and quality. Relaxing stay.

Nice comfortable  rooms with large windows that you can open and  enjoy the good fresh air If it is not too hot (we were lucky to have max 19 c )
Lobby is nicely decorated and relaxing ,Front desk is friendly and helpful , parking is 10 euro , We had small dinner in the cafeteria ,club sandwich was very tasty ,the town is just ok....

We stayed 3 nights in the parador, using it as a base to explore the Catalan Pyrenees and Andorra. The hotel is excellent. Our room was large and the bathroom facilities were modern and spacious. The hotel is quite modern but is built around an old cloister which now serves as a bar and lounge area, just perfect for relaxing with a drink after a day out. There is ample parking, in a garage and in an enclosed surface lot across the street. It is very close to the cathedral and the old part of the city, so exploring on foot was easy. Service was friendly and efficient.
The restaurant is OK but nothing special. I got the feeling that they were more used to dealing with groups who did not want anything adventurous. It is not that the restaurant was bad, just that it was not exciting. Overall, 5/5 for the hotel, but 3/5 for the restaurant.

Close to the old town and the cathedral (Catedral de Santa María), parador La Seu d’Urgell is a very comfortable hotel. The personnel was kind and helpful. A parking is available nearby. From there, you can make daytrips to many nature trails in the Catalan Pyrenees.

The Parador is an interesting mix of new and old. The hotel was built into a 12th century church and convent. They used the old arches that were part of the cloisters to form a sunken lounge area. Decor was modern and everything was very clean and quiet. The room was quite comfortable - first floor rooms had little terraces. The town was fun to walk in - shops and restaurants of the old city right out the back of the Parador. Lots of restaurants to choose from and plenty of cafes for a morning bite. Andorra (with its duty free shopping) is very close and easy to get to. There was a slight back up at the border coming back into Spain and some cars were pulled over but we were waved through - luck of the draw. Parking at the Parador is an extra charge but it is private and right across the street. We booked through Booking.com and had no problems with language or reservations.

Very comfy and stylish hotel. All room facilities clean and worked perfectly. Breakfast (included in our deal) fabulous.

Internet worked but was slow - my only gripe.

Shame 33C is considered too cold to fill the outdoor pool (I guess they do so for July/Aug only). There's a good looking indoor one but we didn't try that.

The town is pleasant enough but nothing special. The park by the river made a nice evening walk. Views of Serra del Cadi were lovely.

At the price we paid on a late deal, we were very happy with this, our first Parador.

La Seu was the first of four Parador stops, our first experience with Paradors. Online none had space available, the Spanish site was impossible altho' responsive and apologetic. We found an agent in Ocala, FL who specialized in Paradors and made some recommendations. The drive from the Barcelona cruise port took longer than estimated due to some rental car problems. The BMW 530dt GT was not a great car for 3 with luggage. Sixt the rental company had some deficiencies. La Seu was excellent, the town walkable, the only problem was this was an overnight stay and we could not linger and explore the next day. The first 3 paradors were a total of 336 euros, including b'fast. That is a rate for seniors and a 3 day special. We would highly recommend the parador system and our agent Gary at www.SpainParador.com.
