“Our stay improved after a disappointing start...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We stayed here last year in a premium room with a sea view. We enjoyed our stay last year and we booked the same package again this year. However, when I saw the room being offered on the map I reminded reception staff that we'd booked 'a premium sea view room'. However, unless you were over 6' tall, and standing right at the front of the terrace, it was impossible to see the sea at all! Reception staff did however work hard to secure our good will and offered us a two-bedroomed (basic) duplex apartment that had a sea view from the upper main bedroom with the promise of a premium apartment from day 3. However, once installed, we elected to stay in the 'non-premium' room for the rest of our stay rather than facing a further move!

Positives:
-Pueblo Marinero is in a good position near the Marina Rubicon which is relatively upmarket with some good restaurants
-The complex is 'adult only' i.e. no children
-On each occasion the complex has been quiet with no noisy groups
-Clean and well maintained public areas
-Staff are friendly and work hard to try to address any concerns

Negatives:
-Apartments are a little tired with some white goods in poor state of repair e.g. No shelves left in the fridge door for bottles; No glass turntable in the microwave -A new glass turntable was quickly found when we pointed this out -however, since it didn't fit, it still didn't rotate as it stood proud of the rotating device!
-One shouldn't have to 'do battle' in order to get what one has ordered and pre-paid for! (In our case, a premium room with a sea view.)

upgraded at no extra cost. Apartment excellent, staff and management excellent. A unique feature was having vouchers to have evening meals at 6 different restaurants. Llanis steak bar being exceptional. The small Marina resort was lovely and clean and had all we needed, the main resort of Costa Blanca is only a 15 minute walk. And no kids bonus.

Room Tip: the bedrooms in the 2 bed room are upstairs loads of room plus balcony

Loved this hotel, just back today. We only stayed self catering but found while there you can go half board. Breakfast is also available at 11.50 euros but we didn't bother with this. However the evening meal is not in the hotel but at one of a choice of local restaurants in the marina. A dine around option. If I had known this before I would have chose that option as you get the best of both worlds. I spoke to a man there who had paid about £250 more than us for the week but was getting half board. Depending on where we ate we spent between 50-70 euros for 2 people including wine but that was usually 3 courses. You could eat pasta/pizza for under 10 and some steaks we chose were £18. For us the HB would have been good option but I suppose it depends what you like to eat. We walked along the promenade to playa blanca a few times (took 20 minutes leisurely walk) and there are some cheaper places to eat but really nice too. Food in the Sunset bar of the hotel was really nice but unfortunately not open late, really nice lunch though. pasta from 6 euros. Calamari nice too. Sangria there was 3 euros for large glass and the nicest we tried anywhere in playa blanca. Shopping centre across road has supermarket and there is another supermarket beside it too. We bought some nice wine and cava to have on our balcony overlooking the harbour on an evening. Apparently the tax in Lanzarote is lower than elsewhere which can make it cheaper than buying duty free at the airport. I would agree with that. Saw a local wine called Yaiza in a supermarket for 10 euros and it was 17.50 in the airport. We always tried the lanzarote wine as it helps the local economy and was quite good. Only tried the dry white though. I am surprised this hotel does not have a better rating. It is perfectly situated. Right beside the marina, but also on the promenade path to playa blanca, a lovely touch is when the bar guys bring free samples of food out to try when you are sunbathing. I also like the large comfy padded beds around the pool. A real touch of luxury. The weather wasn't as good as I hoped but couldn't fault the hotel.

Room Tip: An upgrade gets you a sea view which is nice

Just arrived back home on the 9th December and we loved it. The location is perfect, staff, nothing was to much trouble for them always a smile, they seemed very content and it showed. We went bed and breakfast. The breakfast was what you would expect, the staff would cook it for you and bring it too you table. The hotel was clean and cleaned regular. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We could get a very strong internet connection in our room so did not expect that. Beds were comfy, plenty of wardrobe space. We hired a safe for 12 nights at a cost of 36 euros.
The pool area was lovely and I can recommend the sunset bar, a pint of tropical lager 2.50 so not too bad at all, friendly bar staff also.
Pako the entertainment guy was a barrel of laughs. he took 8 of us kyacking one day for about 2 hours, cost 10 euro each, I recommend this, stopped at a beach bar and had a pint then headed back. Will we go back YES.

Room Tip: We had room 34 and loved it

Although the location is still great; the apartments are beginning to show signs of needing a refurbishment.
Had 'premier' room 114 (as against 118 last time), Thomson claim this apartment is 'beachfront' - not quite but has a great view of the pool area.
However, as per my review from last November, both the kitchen and bathroom are in total need of replacement - old and worn with only one socket in the kitchen area for four appliances !!
So sorry, definitely not four star.

Dear BisleyBullet,

Thank you for your opininion. I can see that you like the location of the hotel as well as the views from your room. On the other hand I observe that the room you had last time was more of your taste.

I am sorry that we did not have the chance to supply an extension for the kitchen appliances. We do have them at reception.

Thank you once again.
Kind regards,

Love this place, location, facilities, staff, perfect way to prepare for weeks of damp dank dark drear dreich days in Northern Europe.
Location right on edge of Marina Rubicon, about a kilometre from a good gently sloping beach. And if you need to stop on walk back from Playa Blanca check out the cafe at the Pitch n Putt, good pizzas and salads. Give just enough energy to get back to PM and bruschetta and beer at the Sunset Bar.
Roll on March, can't wait to come back.

My friend and I returned here for two weeks this time (had a week there last year). Last week in October and the first week in November. It didn't disappoint. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially the bar staff in the Sunset Bar. Pako the entertainment guy is really good, not pushy at all. He had us playing his version of bowls which was a laugh. We also did the sunset boat trip which is really worth going. We visited the coves and swam in the see and saw the sunset. The hotel is really well situated just over from the marina and on the Promenade. A really good choice of restaurants and bars. We especially liked the Blue Note, The Marmite Pot and Casa Rojha. And Lanni's Cafe was really good too. The variety of restaurants further into Playa Blanca is excellent. The market in the marina is well worth going to along with the market in Teguise. We have already booked up for next year!! The room we had this year was adequate, a bit tired but very clean and excellent views of the sea and marina (room 201). We found the beds a bit uncomfortable but wouldn't put us off.

Dear alliballi290362,

Thank your for sharing your experience with this travel community. It is nice to see once more that coming back was a good idea.

It looks like you did a lot during your holiday including boat trips, swimming and of course seeing the sunset.

Our entertainer is very good and knows that the entertainment in an Adults Exclusive hotel has to be an "easy" one.

As for the restaurants I agree that the vast majority located in the Marina are excelent.

We look forward to welcoming you again next year.

Kind regards,
