We stayed here for One week and if I am brutally honest I have never had a worse 7 night's sleep in my life. When I have looked at some other glowing reviews about the beds it leaves me wondering if I must have back problems as the beds are atrocious. I've been back home for 3 nights now and I still have a sore neck and back. After One night of it we went to reception to see if anything could be done about this to be told that "we all have different tastes", Different tastes yes but I don't think many like sleeping on a rock solid mattres that isn't far removed from the block of wood that it rests on. We were told that Housekeeping would have a look in the morning so we left it at that but unfortunately nothing was done and after prompting them again the next day we discovered a sheet had been put under the mattres which I'm sorry but as a solution it is like putting a cup of water on a barn fire full of hay. This did somewhat ruin the enjoyment of the holiday for myself. My fiancee also found the beds to be extremely uncomfortable but thankfully she has not suffered any pain because of it. After several nights of this and waking up at 4AM in pain I gave up and resorted to the sofa bed which was just as bad. I know that the Rubimar is not 5 star but even I would have expected to be able to sleep comfortably without being made to feeling like I had something wrong with me. Upon returning home both of us had never been so delighted to return to our own bed it was a moment of pure joy.
There are some good plus points to the Rubimar, it is in a great location at the Marina and some of the facilities such as the indoor pool and spa are great and the rooms are of a good size and are very clean which housekeeping do a very good job of keeping them like that during your stay. For what you pay for (staying self catering) you get very good value if you can stand the beds.
Food wise we stayed at the hotel for dinner one evening and to put it politely the food is poor unless you enjoy fish fingers, pork, chips, cheese and garlic aioli. It had me thinking if I had been alive in the 1970's it would be no worse than a British holiday camp "restaurant". The selection on offer was not very good at all and as one of the other guests said to me at one point "your guess is as good as mine" as some of the dishes on offer were not signed and when inquiring with a member of staff what it was they had to go ask as they hadn't a clue either. It was a very lacklustre effort and after we had just spent 20 euro for the joy of just eating chips and garlic aioli we then decided to go out for our actual dinner after it.
If we had booked this with a travel agent I would have requested to move hotel purely due to the beds as I wish I could have had some resolve with this as there was no real effort made other than chuck a sheet between the mattres and the base. I''m giving Three stars as what you get for the price is reasonable but it is purely as I am being decent I personally would not stay here again.
