“Peace and relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

A small complex of 100 bungalows, now adult only all inclusive but previously self catering and so equipped with 2 rings, a microwave, fridge and kettle. The bungalows are simple but clean and comfortable, the pool area is peaceful with plenty of sunbeds, the only noise is the breeze in the trees and an occasional conversation between 2 or 3 nearby people, the food quality was good and the choices at lunch and evening time were excellent, the beer wine gin vodka and white rum were all very palatable, all the staff work hard but are consistently pleasant.
Would and possibly will go again.

Stayed 3.11 to the 17.11 this was the first week of the all inclusive. Firstly the positives - the situation of the hotel is superb and so peaceful just what we needed. The Staff work really hard and apart from one of the Reception Staff are very accomodating. The problem we had was the food. The first week was reasonable but as I am vegetarian and do not eat fish really struggled the second week; Unfortunately, even after complaining to Restuarant Manager nothing improved. We had a meeting with the Manager, who was very attentive, and did seem to care and yes - they did try for my last two days to give me a bit more variety - but unfortunately this just seemed to be Pasta Pasta pasta!! I also had an issue with the man on Reception who I asked if it would be possible to make a cake for my husbands birthday which I was quite willing to pay for - nothing was forthcoming and I was very disappointed - these little things unfortunately made a big difference to our enjoyment. I must say we met some lovely people namely Chicken and Von Trap Advisor and in particular one of the evening entertainers who sang Pavarotti to end his performance was amazing I do hope you continue to employ him in the evening - what a find! To sum up we had a very good holiday and if the Manager continues to listen and respond to customers requests then I feel this will be an exceptional hotel and one which we would dearly love to come back to and recommend to friends.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Atlantic Gardens for 1 week from 21-28th November. We had read many reviews on trip advisor and paid £330pp through Loveholidays.com (who are excellent by the way). We didn't expect too much and as our transfer coach dropped others off at huge, shiny goliath hotels, my heart sank a little as we pulled up at the very low-key Atlantic Gardens. We were shown to our room (410) and again our first impressions left us ever so slightly underwhelmed. If I had rated it during the first day, I would have given the hotel 2.5/5. But this just shows how wrong and foolishly judgemental we were.

We have been to many far-flung destinations and stayed in all manner of dorms, hostels, hotels and luxury resorts. But the week we have just spent in Playa Blanca ranks as possibly the best week we have ever had. This is solely down to this fantastic hotel.

Others have complained about the recent change to adult only all-inclusive. This was our first visit, but I can imagine that if one had taken kids here previously, only to be told this was no longer possible, then they would be understandably disgruntled. Oh well, their loss was our gain. The peace & quiet was just what we like and the layout, with winding paths surrounded by greenery lined by little white bungalows was a perfect setting. Our room had clearly been refurbished and our terrace was doused in sunlight from when we awoke at 7:30am right through to when the temperature started dropping at 5pm. On our walks around the complex we noticed that other bungalows seemed to be in total shade due to the aforementioned foliage and their sun-shy perspectives. We realise now that we were fortunate with our room so if possible request room numbers 407-412 or 301-308-ish. These seemed the best positioned for sun and also access to the promenade along the coast.

Now to the food & drink…..what can I say. Fantastic!! The selection is overwhelming and every single thing on offer tasted sensational. Grilled wreck fish - gorgeous, Fajitas - gorgeous, Steak - gorgeous, Spinach lasagne - gorgeous, Spaghetti Bolognese - gorgeous, smoked salmon salad - gorgeous, liver pate - gorgeous, paella - GORGEOUS! The list honestly goes on and on and on and everything was available pretty much at the same time. Breakfast was of the same standard and lunch was even better! To top it all off the beer is help-yourself from a glistening silver pump and is, you guessed it…GOOORGEOUS! I am particularly fond of red wine and all-inclusives have previously let me down, choosing to serve a ribena-esque insult to la vino tinto. However, the Atlantic Gardens overflowed with Rioja straight from the bottle and gallons of the stuff.

Fancy some olives on your terrace accompanied by a 500ml carafe of red? Not a problem. The staff were as lovely as the cuisine and as unassuming as the bungalows.

It was this relaxed attitude which really separated the hotel from other (1 drink at a time/no glass to be taken back to your rooms please) all-inclusives.

One final point. We are English and there is just 1 english channel available in the room - BBC world news. Many will be happy to spend the evenings in the bar, but we like to eat and then retreat and watch a film. I took a gamble and took my little portable hard rive, loaded with films. The tv’s have a USB port and play the films (avi’s for the techies) and so every evening we’d fill our bellies, ask for a carafe of rioja, swivel the sofa and settle down for a movie. I appreciate this is a personal thing, but just worth a thought if you fancy it.

I have never revisited a hotel in my whole life. But I suppose the best compliment I can give the Atlantic Gardens is that we will be returning same time next year. £330pp???, I’d pay that just for the food!

Room Tip: In between the restaurant and the promenade allowed quick access for F&D and also to the sea.

second time in playa blanca, first at atlantic gardens. we had a 10 day stay 14th to 24th nov 2013. a well located spot very close to the seafront promenade. atlantic gardens is a very good all round relaxing holiday. we were well looked after from start to finish by hard working very friendly staff. the room we had 419 was in need of an update but kept clean and overall was adequate. the meals and dining room staff were excellent as was herman and his somewhat scarce staff in the bar. pool well maintained and clean. for a place in the middle of an update and its very recent change over to an all-inclusive adults only it was very impressive.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here on 2nd November for 2 weeks. On the first night we got woken up by a dripping noise behind the wall. We phoned to tell reception and they sent out a maintenance man straight away. They could not fix it so gave us a key to a sea view room which we thought would be a bonus. We got down there and the room was literally a building site...the sofa was outside the room for starts then inside the room there was a wheelbarrow, paint sheets, paint tins spread across the room. So we went back to reception and they said no other rooms were available and could we come back tomorrow. A bit later my boyfriend got out the shower and went to put his clothes on and they were soaking wet!! The wardrobe had a massive leak in it! We went to reception and immediately they found us another room. We wanted to speak to the manager but apparently he doesn't work on sundays.

On the second week we got new neighbours who we thought were an item but as it turns out he had a different girlfriend every night and didn't we know it at 3am in the morning!!

On the positive side though the food was lovely, my favourites were the fresh salad and cooked roast chicken. They also had paella most days which was delicious. There was something yummy to eat every breakfast, lunchtime and evening and always plenty of wine on the table. The waiter Inaki was very efficient and we always had a laugh with him.

In the bar there was a great barman called German who really gave the place some entertainment, he worked so hard all the time that we were there. He was nearly always on his own behind the bar and we felt sorry for him.

The rooms were very clean and our towels were changed regularly. Early in the morning we would always see somebody cleaning the pool for a long time. We never had a problem getting a sunbed and it was very quiet around the pool area.

Overall we had a fun holiday and met some lovely people. We did have a mystery bottle of wine in our room so we think it was an apology about our room problems!!
