“Great Family Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We stayed in the holiday village from 13th - 20th June. Our party was made up of my inlaws, my husband, 4 year old son & me.

First impressions were good, reps and reception staff very helpful and friendly. We upgraded to a superior rooms and I emailed Angel before to request rooms in block C which we were given (thanks very much Angel) Really happy with them, very spacious, great terraces with sunbeds and table & chairs plus a minute walk away from the beach. The rooms are a bit dated but the are a good size and have everything you need. Beds are comfy too.

We thought the food was great, plenty of choice to suit everyone. The drinks were lovely too, the rose wine went down a treat! We never waited for a table at all. We had 4 vouchers for each of the themed restaurants. The were all nice but the Tex Mex & The Tavern by the Sea were the best by far. My inlaws had never been all inclusive before and they are converted now, they thought the standard of food was brilliant and couldn't believe the amount of choice.

We found the waiting staff and chefs excellent, they always made time for my little boy which he loved. The staff worked so hard I don't know how they manage to keep the place so clean.

The kids club was fantastic, my little boy was a bit nervous at first but the reps totally put him at ease and he really enjoyed the sessions. We had no problems getting him in to the clubs. The only time we had to book was for the chocolate party one evening.

There is an issue with people reserving sunbeds but this does seem to happen everywhere. We did end up having to join them. The beach was really lovely, we alternated between beach and the pool every other day. There is noise around the pool with the entertainment but I didn't find it too bad. It is a family resort, there will always be things going on.

The only thing we weren't keen on was the moon bar, it was far to loud and not to our taste at all. We didn't think the kids entertainment was up to much, the small dance floor area was packed with kids watched the reps play bingo.

The rooms were cleaned 5 days out of 7 I think and again the cleaners were great. All the staff work so hard in this resort.

All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Upgrade and ask for a room in Block C

We Upgrade to a superior room and emailed Angel before we went and asked for a bungalow with a sea view and he delivered with bungalow C30 which was right on the front with a great view of the sea. The village had a nice lay out but could do with a complete re-vamp as it looking tired and is no way a Four star complex more 2 star.
some of the other guest really were rude and did not look after their children and only wanted to get smashed everyday and eat, i did wonder if the "jeremy kyle show" paid for some of them to go on holiday.
In 2012 we stayed at the HV Majorca and that was a lot nicer, the food at HV Majorca also better and more choice.
Would i go back to HV Flamingo Beach? NO would choose another HV for next year.

We have just returned from 2 wks hols here. Myself, husband, 7yr old son, our friends and their 2 children daughter 7yrs and baby 5 months. We all enjoyed our holiday. They had no problem in booking their baby into the creche for 12 sessions whilst we were there.

We found the food to be lovely and had plenty of choice. None of us had any of the sick bugs that people have mentioned, maybe they just overate!!! In fact we ate so much weve all put on weight!!!! Cakes were lovely.

We never had to wait at any of the resturants to be seated, we went straight in and were shown to tables. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpfull. I found that some of the Brits were extremely rude to the staff, never using any manners, and quite frankly I was ashamed to be British.

We also noticed that some families ate like pigs, allowing their children to chuck food all over the floors and tables during meals, surely they dont behave like this in their own homes??? The staff just got on and cleaned up after them, their patience was amazing. Lots of people loaded up their plates with food, ate half and left the rest. so wasteful !!

Also there were plenty of bins around, but many people couldnt be bothered to throw their paper cups and rubbish in them, just chucking them on the floor, the staff were always clearing up.
First thing in the morning all the areas round the swimming pools were hosed down with water,

Yes there is a big issue with the sunbeds, people were putting towls out at 11.30 at night, I really think the hotel should have removed them. Personally I would have chucked them all in the pool! Our room was near the quiet pool, sometimes towels were on the beds for hours with nobody on them!!!

Our son went to the Swim Accademy, Nick and Hannah were absolutely brilliant, friendly and kind too, thank you so much Nick and Hannah, our sons swimming came on brilliantly.

Our children went into kids club 11 times during the holiday, they thoroughly enjoyed it. Though there were 2 evening sessions we took them to, that they cancelled due to no other children being there.

The beach and sea are lovely, but naturally a bit cold at this time of year, as were the pools, but it didnt deter us or the kids from going in them. The walk along to Playa Blanca harbour and town was lovely.

We found the Blue Moon quite noisy, so often sat outside.
Overall we found the place clean, the staff helpfull and friendly (despite some of the rude Brits) the entertainment reps worked hard although a bit of variety would have been good.

We enjoyed our stay, a lot of people will complain and whinge just for the sake of it. Yes we would go back. We have also been a couple of other holiday villages each having their own pros and cons.

Dear customers
Thank you for your review. I fully agree with you. One bad review in internet (or some reviews written by the same person) can give a wrong picture of the hotel. The important thing is that everyone can have an independent opinion and never biased by a prior review. If you pay attention to all the reviews about Flamingo you will see that the majority are scored as Excellent or very good. This percentage could be higher but unfortunatelly not all the satisfied customers write a review.
Hope to see you soon,
Angel

Dissappointed Family Review - Firstly brochure states 4**** BUT on the next page states two keys !!! Only Holiday Village in the brochure with this "key" rating very suss as this hotel is really nothing like a **** resort ! This is stretching the imagination.

Arrival > Arrived at 5-30 pm reps were friendly and so was recp.

Reps> Day reps ok the ones around the pool are limited as to how they can help etc, the reps ZOE ... STEVEN ....HATTIE waste of space !!!! If you have a real problem or an issue regarding an adult to deal with the situation avoid the above !!!! No help what so ever !!!! Immature attitude !
Swimming coaches Hannah & Nick are FANTASTIC my daughter come on so much so a big thanks to them !!! (They are very overlooked).
Night entertainment ... yes it is loud but its funny and my girls loved the night kids shows & discos. Have to give a shout out to Rachel she is fantastic and my daughter was her biggest fan !!!! Disco after the night entertainment is poor and half hearted should be more of an effort til 12 pm !!! Really F/C not allowing latest chart music to be played due to royalties !! Tight !!!
HOTEL STAFF> Recp polite, Restaurant waiting staff polite, chefs rude,beverage/food manager unhelpful. Overall I felt that the staff felt like they were doing us a big favour for working at the hotel !!
However after our room was sorted we had a maid change Yrani was excellent very high standards in cleaning and very polite !!!
Life guards (males) need to concentrate on there job rather than chatting up the staff.
Security, was there not very visible and this is not a secure site as we were told on booking the holiday !

VENUE> The village is in a lovely setting and its nice to have the pools scattered around as I found the main pool too rough for my young daughters. The village is generally clean nothing flashy !
Our bungalow was very basic, in need of a refurb, awful, on arrival the room wasnt clean and we reported this several times to recp + reps- dirty floor,snot/gob on the bathroom tiles,gob/toothpaste on the bathroom sink cuboard, old blood stained bedding, dangerous bin (daughter got injured as lid was missing and there was rusty rough sharp pieces sticking out and my 1yr cut herself ) dangerous door strip daughter cut her foot, the bin and the door strip were eventually replaced.Mouldy shower curtain, black long hairs all around (were are all fair) urine stained toilet seat.
It took numerous complaints 4 deep cleans and the UK customer service centre to get the bungalow cleaned properly over 6 days.
Never saw the pools waters being checked and the sun loungers didnt get cleaned (previous at other family holiday locations). Maybe if a sun lounger was at individuals bungalows etc maybe people wouldnt struggle to get a lounger around the pools !
Blue moon bar is in need of a refurb, floors sticky and some bits are sticking up.Shame there isnt an open air venue for evening entertainment as the bar is very closed in and not very spacious!
Atlantic bar is good but lacking inside there is a lot of space that really doesnt do anything, the play area is good if the lights are on but the steps near are very dangerous !!!
FOOD> Hmmm well all of our family had severe sickness and diarrhoea, food started off ok but as the restaurants got busy the food wasnt being cooked enough ! Be careful with the meat + eggs, fried eggs arent cooked through sunnyside up ones very jellified :/ not good my husband lost 1 stone ! This was reported several times and due to the amount of people ill + complaints an overall review of the food was done. Chefs with very dirty wrags and quite rude, they dont understand what they are cooking. I am vegetarian and one day picked the vegetable rice and as I was eating this I was greeted by ..... pork mixed in, the manager tried at first to blag it that it was a vegetable I clearly resolved this and the rice was removed. Since the new restaurant opened things went really down hill in regards to quality/choice.
ALL IN ALL BAD WAY TO SPEND NEARLY £3000 OF MY HARD EARNED CASH !!! Alot has to be done here !!!
And Angel I am fully aware of what a holiday village is, star ratings and basic cleanliness just in case :)

Dear customers,
Thank you for your answer to my comments to your original email. A 2 star hotel is something absolutelly basic and with no services at all. I cannot agree with you in this points. I also cannot agree with the comments about the cooks and the F&B manager. They are absolutelly customer orientated, friendly and trying their best to provide an excellent service. If there was a misunderstanding with them, please accept my apologies.
As I said before, most of our customers are very satisfied and this is not a personal opinión. It is the result of the Csq. I really would like to see again here in the Winter season where it is quieter and without the Hpliday village concept. Perhaps this can be more covenient to you. Anyway if you wish to comment anything else, please email me directly to angel.rivero@nordotel.com. I will be more tan happy to give you an answer to all issues you might have.
Best regards
Angel

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We travelled from 13th june to 20th june 2013,with hubby and little boy 6.
This was our first All Inclusive holiday and our first to lanzerote,We were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and how hard the staff worked,We were greeted by a full reception on arrival and a rep putting on annoying wrist bands,( Gold for adults,Yellow for children)We only went for 1 week and felt this was enough for us,mainly because of selfish brits who reserved sunbeds, some even set there alarms for 5am!!!! and because of the wind......It NEVER stops!!! you may think that this is a bit petty but with the rubbish british weather you look forward to some nice weather abroad.....The restaurants arnt sign posted either, the times of opening are on a notice board in reception but not where they are.we asked our rep what time the atlantic bar opened and she didnt know.!!!!!!!

The food in the restaurants was ok,catering for all exept children,i felt there could have been more for them exept bolognaise and fries.we didnt try any of the other restaurants as the 'El Chef' was enough. The new Green and grill above the atlantic bar was like a school canteen...not enjoyable, food was dry, burgers hard and chewy!!

The best part of our holiday was the indoor pool,as ALL the outdoor pools are freezing cold,we opted for the indoor one.It opens from 10am to 6pm...From 10 to 12 is families with children and swimming lessons if booked, from 12 to 6 is adults only..which we thought was a bit wrong as there were a lot of children who would of benefited from being indoors and not in the heat of the afternoon...Quiet a lot suffered from sun stroke...for this i blame the parents who would rather sit around a noisy pool and drink alcohol rather than look after their children.!!

The room we had was a bungalow (59) which had plenty of room. The aircon, which you need to pay for the remote was in our opinion a waste of time...Other hotels we have stayed in you could feel the cold air from the vents, this one could only be felt by standing on a chair and then we werent even sure if it was switched on,we went to reception and asked and got told to put it on 21 and 'it will take time for it to work'!!! well the whole week we were there it did'nt and we ended up getting the large fan from the cupboard which worked a treat. The door opens by waving card infront of the panel on the door, this is then place in a slot on the wall to start the power up,this card also opens the two gates that lead to the beach. The door to the bungalow doesnt have a lock on in so dont do what i did and lock yourself out!!.

Playa Blanca itself is a nice place,20 minute walk(depending on your legs) along the front, loads of shops for niknaks and more tobacconists than you could imagine..But beware..some are cheaper than others so shop around and for some reason they are mostly pakistani people that run them.

Please also note that as it is windy all the time, when you're on the beach put on plenty of suncream as you get burnt from the wind as well as the sun.
pedlows on the beach are available to hire 12 euros for half an hour,20 euros for an hour.

Overall we had a good holiday but one or two things spoiled it..Mainly the british sunbed hoggers and the wind. Our last night there saw the sunbeds being chained up and the typical people who reserved them were not happy, they ended up putting there towels on the parasol base where they wanted the sunbed.

Dont let my review put you off as the resort is lovely. Have a great time if you choose to go but we definatly wont return.

Room Tip: email the hotel and ask for a bungalow as these are bigger and quieter.we had bungalow 59.

Paid £2500 to stay here, the biggest waste of money ever.

Where do I start? We arrived at about 4pm, there were two drunk English men fighting outside reception.
Both using really foul language, surrounded by further drunk people who seemed to be enjoying the entertainment.

Check in took around 40 minutes, On a positive note my room requests had been noted, The £98 to upgrade to a superior bungalow was worth every penny.

The room was lovely, beach front with its own sunbeds, slightly shabby in places but clean and adequate.

In the 10 nights we were there we never once got a sunbed , as these were all gone by the time we went for breakfast, My husband got up at 6am to go for a run twice and even by that time they were all taken. On one occasion we spotted a lady on her own with magazines etc spread out over 5 sunbeds, we asked if she was using them all, Her reply 'Yes I F*****g am, and I'm using them all day' This was at 10.00 , by 5pm she was still the only one there

Tried daily to get the kids into kids club as they'd been to previous Holiday Villages, were only able to get them into one session each as they were all too full, Not good when they've queued up all excited to be turned away.

The crèche is apparently completely booked up for July & August already as they only take 9 infants per session, and when we were there , approximately 45 were on site.

This summed up the general behaviour of a lot of the guests... Rude chavs who wanted to drink all day long, let their kids run wild and thought nothing of swearing constantly the more drunk they got.

the management came up with an idea of chaining up the sunbeds until 9am, this made no difference as people reserved their 'space' with a towel and stood in a queue from about 7.30am.. The first choice rep informed me that theres enough sunbeds in the hotel roughly a third of the guests.

The food was average to good in both choice and quality, but waiting 30 minutes for a table for every meal got slightly tedious, the restaurants were like a cattle market, people acting like they'd never been fed, one one occasion my daughter and a couple of other children were waiting for the chef to bring a new pizza to the childrens buffet, only for a grown man to push in between them and take the whole pizza to his table, where it didn't even get touched.

The entertainment was horrendous, the tables were reserved by people leaving their belongings on them, if you did manage to get one it was loud crass dark and dingy , sticky floors, very similar to a caravan parks club house.

After holidaying at the Holiday Village Tenerife, Cyprus, Majorca and Rhodes and loving all 4 we expected this to be of a similar standard, how wrong we were, Its official rating is infact a 2star, and this is more realistic.
If you have been to any other HVs and loved them, please do not book here, you will be disappointed .

We ate out on numerous occasions, the beach is nice, and if you pay the extra for a superior room, you will at least have your own sunbeds on your terrace/balcony.

Possibly out of season it would be ok, but with one sunbed per 3 guests, Seating for 200 in the entertainment area when the maximum capacity is 1500, and seating for 300 in the restaurants, and not enough kids club places for even half the children there I really would avoid at all costs in the summer holidays. It was 80% full when we were there and you were falling over people.
Even going to get the kids a drink or an ice cream involved a 10 deep queue.

There are much better organised places to spend your hard earned cash, my advice? Book elsewhere, HV Tenerife, Rhodes, Cyprus and Majorca are all fab!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior, worth every penny

Dear customers,
Thank you for your review. I am sorry that your holidays were not as expected. Perheps you expected to find a quieter resort while a Holiday village concept is all about activities, pools, fun , sports, etc. We have a new snack restaurant and bar (Grill in the evenings) which serves drinks and food to customers who are on the beach.
regards
Angel

This was our first all inclusive holiday, and we were very impressed by the cleanliness of the resort and the consistent freshness of the food. We only went for a week and that was plenty for us, as it is frustrating to come back from a holiday with no exposure to any local culture. The staff were excellent, and our kids had a ball. They could however improve the information provided as to where on-site restaurants are, how booking worked etc. It was almost as if they were not expecting anyone to be there for the first time.

We had a room with an extra sofa bed, but unfortunately this was very uncomfortable. The room itself was very spacious with a decent balcony and, as with the whole resort, very clean.

The all inclusive package deal isn't really our thing and it did start to feel really claustrophobic despite the size of the resort. If it is what you are looking for, then Playa Flamingo is one to look at.
