“lovely setting”

Iberostar Lanzarote Park

May 17, 2008

enjoyed a week at Lanzarote Park May 4th 2008, Hotel setting was fantastic the hotel was clean and the food was very good. The entertainment was very poor but as the hotel was so well situated there was plenty to see in easy walking distance. The hotel was mainly German guests and there was no english flag to be seen and i felt the German guests did receive preferential treatment but this could have been because english guests were very few. On the whole a lovely relaxing week.

We have stayed at the Lanzarote Park before, however not this early in the season, and new that we could expect an enjoyable relaxing break. Although the majority of the guests are German and Scandanavian we had no difficulty getting sunbeds in the best areas of the hotel. In fact didn't see any towels out prior to breakfast at all. It may have been because the hotel wasn't completely full but there was definately a difference to our previous experience - last September towels were going out at 4.00am!!! Staff were very helpful and food was the usual high standard, there is always plenty of variety. Will definately be back next year.

“Lovely Time at this hotel!!”

Iberostar Lanzarote Park

Just spent 7 nights all-inclusive at the Lanzarote Park with my wife - booked through Thomas Cook. The location was excellent - just a few minutes walk into the town centre along a very pleasant promenade that runs right outside the hotel along the seafront. Views from our balcony were spectacular across the sea to Fuerteventura and the rooms were very clean and modern. Staff were very helpful except for those serving drinks at the pool bar (where all-inclusive guests were definately treated as second class citizens). Food was OK but got a bit boring after a week although the salads were very good. Playa Blance is a nice resort with a lot of seafront cafes and bars but a quite atmosphere and a nice beach - although the beach is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Evening entertainment at the hotel was pretty poor. Would definately recommend the hotel and resort to those of my age (about 50).

We stayed here for one week during the Easter holiday.

The hotel is in a lovely location, within walking distance of a nice beach and backing onto a promenade which takes you right through to Playa de Flamingo if you walk for long enough.

This is a summary of what we thought of the hotel:

POSITIVES:
Friendly staff
Close to beach and a couple of restaurants
Clean
Good choice of breakfast food
Views out to sea

NEGATIVES:
Small bedroom
Uncomfortable beds
Repetitive evening food - the same meat but in a different sauce
All of the other guests were German which is ok in itself but they were all AI and we were only HB so had to watch them getting loads of drinks with their evening meal while we had to pay for ours and all of the hotel staff assumed everyone was German
Entertainment - evenings were just embarrassing as there were mainly shows put on by the animation staff who were less than talented
Kids club was not that great either - a bit hit and miss although my kids liked the mini disco

I would recommed a day trip to Fuerteventura which you can book down at the marina. We really enjoyed this. However, please do not get conned into the other numerous trips which the rep tries to sell you. They are mainly overpriced and not particularly great.

Overall, we had a good week and loved Playa Blanca but would probably check out a different hotel next time.

“Mixed Feelings about this one.....”

Iberostar Lanzarote Park

We visited the Lanzarote Park in November, the weather was terrific, gloriously sunny. On entering the hotel you are greeted by a clean and well decorated reception area and the desk staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately this did not extend to the accomodation which was hugely disappointing. The main bedroom was absolutely tiny with barely enough room to get between the bed and the wall, the bed was appallingly hard, the worst I have ever slept on with the result that we had little sleep and I actually developed Sciatica as a result of sleeping on it for a week.

The room has a kitchenette which was dreadful. There was no kettle and only one saucepan if we had wanted to cook for ourselves - having spoken to other guests they were having similar experiences. The lounge was comfortable enough but the decor throughout the two rooms was old and tired with patches of paint and plaster missing from the walls. The bathroom was clean but the tiles were cracked in places and the bath leaked when you took a shower.

It's a shame that the accomodation was like this because the public areas of the hotel were good and the food was better than average for a hotel of this type. We were half board and didn't suffer from the usual repetative dishes that often occur. The pools were large, clean and well supplied with loungers etc - though you did find that many people put towels on them in the morning despite the signs asking them not to.

Having said that the food was good the evening entertainment programme was utterly dreadful to the point of embarassment. Only on one occasion was an entertainer brought in from outside the hotel, the rest was left in the hands of the entertainment team who were just terrible. The lounge was vitrually empty every night - although this meant that getting served at the bar was no problem.

There was a hotel run kids club which was fine and my child had a great time with the staff there who did plenty of entertaining activities and kept him amused.

Playa Blanca itself was fantastic and it's a resort that we will definately visit again though not as guests of this hotel.
