“Perfect Chill Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We stayed at the Timanfaya Palace for 10 nights returning on 23rd March, and have to say our experience of the hotel was fabulous.
I e-mailed the manager prior to our departure explaining that all we wanted was to have a hassle free holiday after going through a traumatic time last year with a family bereavement, and I have to say that it was perfect.
On arrival a glass of bubbly, and courteous staff on reception, we were given room 173 on the ground floor, and after reading other reviews about ground floor rooms our hearts dipped a little, but on entry to the room we could'nt have been more pleased, a very well appointed room with a massive king size bed and views out of this world, just outside was the top pool and waterfall with palm trees, cacti plants, and to top that beautiful sea views and a sun-set right in front of our balcony, a complimentary bottle of bubbly on ice, white fluffy bath-robes and slippers just added to the special feeling that was felt by both of us.
We only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, as we like to dine at local tavernas and resturants and there are plenty to choose from in Playa Blanca, but the breakfasts at the Timanfaya are fabulous, you could not fault the food and the staff very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very well placed with lovely walks in both directions, the lighthouse at the end of the island to the right at the rear of the hotel, and Playa Blanca 25 mins walk to the left with the sea and beautiful views of Fuerteventura.
After our evening walks to eat we would get a taxi back approx 3.60 euros but always gave 5 euros, we would go in the piano bar for a couple of brandys served expertly by the waiters in warm glasses, perfect, lovely people seem to stay at this hotel, most are friendly and will chat while the music plays away in the background.
A special mention for our house-maid Carmen, always polite, never imposing, and very good at her job.
Thankyou to all the staff at the Timanfaya Palace, our stay with you was perfect.

Reception Staff - not welcoming upon arrival, no drinks provided, did not assist with cases, not shown to room and appeared very unhappy and unhelpful during the week. Deposit also required for pool towels, mini golf. Full payment required for safe.
Restaurant Staff - very helpful and attentive
Food Quality - fine but a real issue for veggies as 95% was meat and fish mixed with veg - a real problem for me however if requested a special meal was provided (same meal each time but fine)
Location - Great
Room - ok
Entertaininment - sorry but we were not impressed
Hotel Overall - overrated and very dissapointed - not value for money

Dear Alison W,

I'm sorry that you were unhappy during your holidays in our hotel. Maybe you can write me an Email with more details about the problems you had. ( direccion.hti@h10hotels.com).

In our brochures and hotel info everywhere you can read we keep deposit for the towels and for the safe and minibar key, that you get back when you return the items.
As 4 star hotel we don't have we safe free and we don't have bellboy to help with the suitcases. Special in this hotel we do have bellboy for the privilege and for the oldest people, 24 hours a day, and if someone else ask for this service, but we don't offer it directly to all guest.

As you write, it is never a problem for us to prepare an special meal or special diet for those guests that ask for it.

I hope you send me an Email to identify the real problem of your unhappiness in my hotel.

Regards,

José Angel Vázquez

After reading several negative reviews I contacted the Hotel to ensure I would get a room on a higher level - we were rewarded on arrival with a lovely room on the 4th floor with a view which we weren't able to book previously as the Hotel was full. I can understand why individuals had complained as the 1st floor rooms and basement look out onto a wall or rocks- how disappointed would I have been!!
Our room was excellent very clean and bright.
The food was good and varied and typical of the serve yourself now in most Hotels -the service was excellent and waiters were always there to assist.
The pool restaurant is lovely by way of a change at midday and the Kasba Restaurant was an excellent standard for an occasional meal
Entertainment varied - The professional acts were excellent -The resident team nights were okay
Facilities excellent -the new indoor pool was wonderful heated under glass and outside how good is that.
The Hotel is close enough to Playa Blanca to go for a stroll and its well worth passing through the town and further along the coast - we went for a stroll most days and it is very pretty the further along you go.
On one day we took the (Organised ferry over to Fuertaventura) Its worth paying the extra and going for the trip as they take you to the Dunes -Not totally impressed with the trip but it confirmed Fuertaventura would not be a holiday destination for me and probably saved us a couple of thousand pounds.
In all we had a wonderful week.

Room Tip: If possible go for sea view and the higher floor the better Our room was on 4th Floor excellent ver...

We have just returned having booked this Hotel because it was child free and we were not disappointed. We prioritised our room booking based on a sea view and our room 151 was front facing and very close to the sea and it was very quiet although not one of the refurbed rooms it enabled us to listen to the waves and sun bathe on our sheltered terrace so we found it was perfect. I would say do not book a lower room and ask for a front facing room. The bed was too firm but this is the only negative. There is no separate drinks menu for all inclusive although we went half board we had everything we needed and didn't feel it was overly expensive. The pool bar was fab for lunch piano bar fab for watching the sunset the upper pool decked area sheltered for sunbathing. I would say arrive for meals as the restaurant opens and sit by the glass window to enjoy the views and also the food having just been laid out. The a la carte well worth a visit if you want an intimate dinner. This is our third trip to Lanzarote and the first time we hired a car for the day it's a small island and easy driving and not many roads so you can't really get lost. We enjoyed the Cesar Manrique attractions and by far the most breathtaking view was at the mirador del Rio - we have seen many fantastic views in the world but this one took my breath away don't miss it! The staff at this Hotel were happy and clearly enjoyed their jobs. The evening entertainment was enjoyable. Overall feeling happy and would recommend this Hotel.

DEar barbados2,

Thank you ver much for your nice review and your rate of 5 points.

For your next visit, if you find the bed too firm or too soft... please, let us know... We have different mattresses. Most beds are very firm, because most guests prefer them so, but we can change it ofr you.

We had 4 weeks at the Timafaya Palace in January 1014 so I am quite late writing the review.

Thank you Team Jose for another perfect holiday, every member of your Staff had a smile on their faces and gave us an excellent service but a special mention for Havier, Vicky, the Reception Staff, Housekeepers and all their girls including Maria our cleaner. We found that the Dinning room Staff & Chefs did an excellent job thank you. Mahmood from the Privilege Lounge kept everything well stocked up. The two Thomson Girls Lou & Haley always cheerful and had a word if they weren't busy.

The food in the main dining room was very good and a variety to suite all palates, the bacon at breakfast was very good as was all the freshly cooked food from the show bar.

The Timanfaya is in a perfect position by the sea with lovely gardens and sun bathing areas.

I cant wait until we return again in six weeks for our fourth visit

Room Tip: up grade to at least a sea view room well worth the price

Just back 20th of March we had a great time the hotel is within walking distance to playa blanca 10 to 15 minutes along the promenade where you can get the ferry to Fortaventura for 19 euros return this takes you into the centre of Coraleco well worth the visit.
The hotel itself covers a wide area the food was excellent and we are fussy eaters there was never any waiting even although this is a large hotel the staff can't do enough to help you the entertainment was good even the flamenco dancers were worth seeing they were different.
We were in room 231 which was a very well appointed large room the only draw back was the room was overlooking the gardens to the back so there was no sun and your are next to the service road where the bins are kept all be it they are out of sight but getting emptied a 6 am does make some noise especially the bottle bin .
There are plenty of sun loungers and are spread over a large area so you are not all packed in, the price of the vodka is dear 4 euros you can buy a bottle at the supermarket for 11 euros a small mixer bottle of coke 2.40 euros beer was 3.80 which was not to bad it was 3 euros in town.
To sum up a great hotel friendly staff drink a bit pricey so go all inclusive and ask for a room at the front and enjoy we did.
