“A Hotel Worth Going Back To!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We decided to opt for an all-inclusive holiday with First Choice (through Thomson Holidays) and arrived on 1st September 2013 for 1 week. When we arrived, as like most, we were greeted with a glass of Cava at the Hotel reception. Our room was lovely - very spacious and clean. On further inspection, I was disappointed to see that the Air-con was not working. A call to reception and within 10 minutes, the maintenance guy had fixed the problem. TV was rubbish. BBC World News and CNN were the best English channels. The staff were brilliant the whole time and ALL said 'Hola' as they passed. Wi-Fi was free in the Reception areas but due to Apple's Face Time communication facility, the signal was very poor as quite a few people using it at the same time. The restaurant areas were OK - you have to pay extra for the 'Privileged' areas that you see on the website photos. Sometimes, the restaurants got busy and the food options would become less (Tip: go early to Breakfast, Lunch & Evening meal). Food was good but a bit 'samey' (mostly Spanish dishes but feeding for the masses) although we tried not to pile our plates with everything all at once. One negative - I became very ill after our 'A La Carte' meal. Drinks were not perfect. Local beer was okay but spirits very watered down. If you tip the waiters though, you can drink the real stuff as they bring it to your table to pour it. As the complex is vast, you may need to walk for 5 mins to get some free drinking water so stock up on plastic bottles and simply fill them at the Bars/Restaurants (at the self-serve water dispenser). Excursions available through Tour Operators and I would advise going to the Timanfaya National Park to see the Volcanos and have your dinner cooked over the magmatic heat from below the ground. First Choice Reps couldn't be more helpful. Swimming Pools aplenty at the hotel. Great for Families and Couples. Piano bar with low-key entertainment or themed family orientated entertainment every night but not much for 20-40 year olds. Large areas to just walk within the hotel complex or pop outside the gate to the gorgeous Promenade - go left towards the Town (approximately 40 minutes walk or for 5 Euros in a taxi, it takes 5 minutes - in fact, very good taxi service...just go to reception and order one).
We were not blessed with a full week of sunshine so take a warm top (light Jacket) as it can get cold, especially as it can get quite windy and cold, even in the afternoon.
All-in-all a very chilled out holiday and well worth a visit. I am quite fussy but I would most definitely return to this hotel. Only minor niggles - hence the 4/5 rating.

my husband and i have just returned from the rubicon palace, our overall view was it is a nice hotel, efficiently run,
the hotel was extremely busy, mostly with families with young children, The main pool area was very crowded, there were many sunbeds all crammed together, the music and entertainment for the children was very loud, there is an other pool just for children, there are two smaller quieter pools but there is no refreshments at these pools and it is a long walk to even get water to drink, i feel the hotel should consider putting some sorts of drinks machines in these areas.

our room was nice and keep clean, but the was terrible,it was hard and lumpy, we didnt have a good sleep all week, the tv was all spanish channels,

the food was not bad, but not brilliant, the one night at the italian was a disappointment, we waited so long for our table to be cleared, we gave up before we were offered deserts again too busy,

i would say this is a nice hotel for families but if you are traveling as a couple i would think about choosing a different hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for having chosen our hotel for your recent holidays and for writing this review on this website, and we would like to apologize for not having been able to fulfil your expectations.
We respect your opinion, however, would like to point out that apart from the main pool area with animation, we also offer other quiet pool areas with no noise and further from the kid’s areas and any animation for those looking for relaxing and quiet holidays. We are proud to have wide variety of facilities, both for families with children and adults travelling in couple or with friends.
We hope you will come back to visit us in the future to have the chance to show you that our hotel can be what the place you are looking for to spend enjoyable holidays.
Best regards,

We stayed here for one week from 2nd September and were quite impressed. The majority of the staff were always pleasant and willing to help and the room we were located was really nice - Two small double beds and two makeshift single beds for our 11 year old and 14 year old. We asked for a quiet room with a pool view and that is what we got which was great. Block C by the way.

The hotel is huge which of course means LOTS of holiday makers, lots of drinking and pushing for food. Would I want to be here at the height of summer - No. The food was ok and I say this because some of the food we were served was pre cooked and tough and that was in the Italian restaurant which was supposed to be better than most of the self serve restaurants. The restaurants themselves were never very clean and there was always food left on seats and on windows from previous settings which confirmed that little care was taken and it makes you realise they are just catering for the mass and do not really pay much attention to standards. The standards of cleanliness and lack of choice of food are my only grumble as everything else was fine and overall we did eat quite well - even if this was just rice and chips on more than one occasion.

Be careful with your belongings though as a pair of my flip flops went missing from our room and these could only have been taken by a cleaner. I remembered taking them off in the room and then couldn't find them again! I registered this with the rep who will send them to me if they are ever found!

Overall - it was a nice holiday and the Hotel is fine but we have had far better for slightly more money. The standard and choice of food and cleanliness of the restaurants could definitely be improved upon.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room with a pool view. We were in block C and this was in a nice quiet part of the...

We returned from the Rubicon Palace on the 5th Sept 2013.What a lovely hotel, from the time we arrived the staff were friendly and very helpful, always a cheerful hello and a smile. The Rubicon Palace is a very large hotel, when we arrived we were escorted to a train and taken to our room, which was lovely and clean and of a good size. We had a room at the side of the hotel, initially I was disappointed as when I had read reviews people raved about the sea view, but as I opened the balcony door I was not disappointed, the coast line curved round, so we had a lovely sea view. There are several pool areas to lie by,the main one was very large and if you like to be entertained and you have children and like to join in the various activities on offer you'll enjoy it. My husband and I preferred to lie by the more quieter pool area, the only downside was the walk to the bar,but that was a small price to pay. There are two restaurants, and the pivalige restaurant(you have to be a member) The food was good and there was something for everyone, I think I may have put on a few pounds! If you can prize yourself away from the pool side, you can walk along the coast line to Playa Blanca, we were told it can take up to 45 mins to walk, but it took us 35 mins there are some shops to browse round or various bar/restaurants along the sea front to enjoy a good people watch! Overall we had a lovely holiday, although we don't make a habit of returning to the same hotel for our holiday as we like to try something new, I would return to the Rubicon Palace.

I would truly recommend this hotel! The staff at the hotel were all absolutely lovely, every time you walked past someone, whether it was a Maid, Pool Cleaner, Receptionist and even to Bar Staff they would say Hello and give you a smile.
The food was nice and there was always something for everyone. The food was always fresh and definitely looked clean and fresh which is think is very important. It was hot when it needed to be and cold when should be cold which eliminates any chance of illness. It was always refilled if looking low. Plates where cleared once you had finished and tables were cleaned ready for new people.
Our room was very clean, I could not fault the cleanliness throughout the whole hotel, the only point I would say is, the room I stay in was dated which was one of the only small down point to our holiday.
The pools were always kept nice and clean. The only point I would say about the pools is it would of been very nice if there was an 'Adults Only' pool. When trying to sit in the sun relaxing the last thing you want is kids Bombing and Jumping into the pool, screaming and shouting and there was no where you could get away from this.
I had a brilliant time at this hotel and would recommend it to everything and would happily return!

We travelled from Newcastle Airport with Jet2.com on the 18th August 2013 and we arrived at the airport as usual. Newcastle is a great airport and this time we were in the servisair lounge! Everything was going great, called down to gate number 25 and waited to board the plane while we watched our bags go on! About 10 minutes later, an announcement was made: "Ladies and Gentlemen Travelling on this flight, the plane is delayed due to a technical fault! Please wait here for 20 minutes for more information" There was a big groan from all the customers! We all sat there just hoping the plane would be fixed, but then after 20 minutes, the PA started making noise once again "Ladies and Gentlemen, we currently yet have no new information and the next info will be at 5pm today, please return back to the departure lounge until further instructed" It was about 3:30pm at the time, so we trugged back up the stairs into the departure lounge, now, the Servisair Lounge only lets people in for 3 hours and our time was nearly up, but we asked to go back in and the staff were loverly. Because it was quiet we were able to stay in there till 5pm! :) Luckilly at about 4:55pm we were greeted by a voice on the PA saying "A Plane from Manchester has just landed and will be ready to go in 25 minutes, please come to gate" so we did! After that, we had a loverly flight with great Jet2.com Cabin Crew and got there happily and safely... but tiered!

We arrived at the H10 Rubicon Palace at about 2am in the morning! We had an... OK check-in as the man at the reception gave us 2 rooms, one that was loverly and big and one room number that... well... didnt even EXIST! And as its a big complex we were driven all the way back to reception to get this sorted, all was wrong was he put a 0 where there should have been a 1 on the end! Eventually, we got to the second room and unpacked and quickly to bed!

Then the next 2 weeks after were great, no further problems and I did something I loved! In the Hotel there is a dive centre called Dawn Dives Academy where the staff and quality is great! On the first day i had a try dive in the pool and i loved it. So I decided to take my PADI Open Water Cource and it was great! My Instructor was PePe and he really helped me become a qualified Scuba Diver in just 4 days! They do lots of dies around the island too!

The Hotel Rooms were really spacious and clean! We had a double balcony which was great for just relaxing on in the afternoon! The Public Areas were good and also the restaurant was good most nights! The thing with the food was, the meat, fish and STEAK EVERY NIGHT was cooked to perfection, the only thing that bugged me was, NO VEGTABLES! They would always have it on at lunch and then nothing exept for the odd brocoli in cheese on an evening! Also, most theme nights are amazing, Chinease Night the best, but one night we struggled for dinner... Arab Night! Apart from that, everything great and the Italian restaurant you can go to once per stay is great also amazing, just wish you could go more often!

When it got to check-out 2 weeks after, we had a little surprise on our check-out bill, 1 Chocolate Bar and 3 Vodkas to pay for! We immidiately denied us buying these and we were able to prove it not being us with our signatures! But I would be careful because its easy to pay these without noticing! Another little thing, on our last day, 1 of 2 very old and super slow lifts broke and took a good 10 minutes to go up 1 floor from calling the lift! there was one bigger lift that went to all florrs but it was staff only and we couldnt use!

Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay and i came away saying that I can now scuba dive thanks to the amazing dive centre.

Jet2.com were great on the return flight, Check-In cues small and also security was quiet, terminal was VERY expensive but i suppose because there in an airport, thats why! Flight back, bang on time but was not pleased at baggage reclaim in newcastle at the state of our cases! 3/5 cases and our buggy were damaged in some way so we had to complain to Swissport who we are still in the process of contacting to sort this!

Oh, and just a note for anyone who does not know, If your plane is delayed 3 hours or over, like ours was, you can claim money off the airline AS LONG AS YOU KEEP ALL FLIGHT INFO/DOCUMENTS! We will be looking into a claim shortly!

So, apart from th little bugs, the hotel was great and pleanty pools to take a dip in and Jet2.com are not a bad airline and there inflight service is actually very good!

Room Tip: Sadly, all Sea Facing rooms facing sea directly are taken for the Privallege Guests but most views a...

We returned for the third time. With two teenage sons we had previously always been in one room but this time had separate. Our rooms were perfect. We had a balcony which was as big as the room and the boys next door had smaller balcony but a room far bigger than they needed. We asked for kettle which arrived the following day for no extra walking to and from the room could be very very windy but that is Lanzarote for you. Most staff are absolutely fantastic. We don't join in the entertainment but am sure those who did had fun. Food is very good lots of choice. Didn't bother with evening shows seen so many over the years we just went and played cards in the piano bar. Walked in to Playa Blanca a couple of times, got a taxi back. Always feel safe in Playa Blanca and rarely see hoardes of lads and ladettes so it is very comfortable. We sat to the far side of the large pool most of the time as it was a bit noisy by the entertainment pool as I like to read a lot. Could be very windy but could also be extremely hot. I didn't realise the courtesy room was a changing room but it wasnt a problem - except it was airless and very hot in there.... Couldn't wait to get out in to the breeze again. Had a lovely massage and reflexology in the spa - by a man Jose - very nice thank you - he needs to give hubby some lessons! may return in the future but now thankfully the boys are old enough that we no longer need to go in school holidays so it should be quieter, which wasn't really a problem, but it should also be cheaper. Although we went AI we are not big drinkers but a couple of the drinks we would have liked Southern Comfort, a couple of cocktails, we're not included which is a shame. With tea and coffee being freely available in the bars I don't know why these are not provided in the rooms.
