We decided to opt for an all-inclusive holiday with First Choice (through Thomson Holidays) and arrived on 1st September 2013 for 1 week. When we arrived, as like most, we were greeted with a glass of Cava at the Hotel reception. Our room was lovely - very spacious and clean. On further inspection, I was disappointed to see that the Air-con was not working. A call to reception and within 10 minutes, the maintenance guy had fixed the problem. TV was rubbish. BBC World News and CNN were the best English channels. The staff were brilliant the whole time and ALL said 'Hola' as they passed. Wi-Fi was free in the Reception areas but due to Apple's Face Time communication facility, the signal was very poor as quite a few people using it at the same time. The restaurant areas were OK - you have to pay extra for the 'Privileged' areas that you see on the website photos. Sometimes, the restaurants got busy and the food options would become less (Tip: go early to Breakfast, Lunch & Evening meal). Food was good but a bit 'samey' (mostly Spanish dishes but feeding for the masses) although we tried not to pile our plates with everything all at once. One negative - I became very ill after our 'A La Carte' meal. Drinks were not perfect. Local beer was okay but spirits very watered down. If you tip the waiters though, you can drink the real stuff as they bring it to your table to pour it. As the complex is vast, you may need to walk for 5 mins to get some free drinking water so stock up on plastic bottles and simply fill them at the Bars/Restaurants (at the self-serve water dispenser). Excursions available through Tour Operators and I would advise going to the Timanfaya National Park to see the Volcanos and have your dinner cooked over the magmatic heat from below the ground. First Choice Reps couldn't be more helpful. Swimming Pools aplenty at the hotel. Great for Families and Couples. Piano bar with low-key entertainment or themed family orientated entertainment every night but not much for 20-40 year olds. Large areas to just walk within the hotel complex or pop outside the gate to the gorgeous Promenade - go left towards the Town (approximately 40 minutes walk or for 5 Euros in a taxi, it takes 5 minutes - in fact, very good taxi service...just go to reception and order one).
We were not blessed with a full week of sunshine so take a warm top (light Jacket) as it can get cold, especially as it can get quite windy and cold, even in the afternoon.
All-in-all a very chilled out holiday and well worth a visit. I am quite fussy but I would most definitely return to this hotel. Only minor niggles - hence the 4/5 rating.
