“OK if cheap”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

Mar 28, 2008

For the price, the accommodation was good. We had booked this as a "cheap" holiday (£270 each) , but I may have disappointed had it cost much more. Saying that it didn't have a cheap feel.

We only ate once in the restaurant- this was average- general buffet -type system. Spoke to others in the hotel who said the food was awful though.

Very good location- 10mins walk to the Marina Rubicon- quite upmarket shops/ restaurants. 10 minutes walk to the town of Playa Blanca, which was a bit more "touristy". Saying that I preferred Lanzarote to Tenerife and Gran Canaria- certainly we were not hassled to buy things, timeshares etc. I think it would be very different in the summer though.

Staff at resort were helpful. Can't comment on entertainment as we didn't go to the bar. I think in the summer the only bar that is open is next to the pool and would probably be noisy. As it was it was very quiet in the evenings.

Small play area kept our three year old entertained. There was also a mini club, to do colouring/ craft etc which she also liked.

Probably more of a place for families.

“Would recommend”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

Mar 19, 2008

Just got back from Playa Blanca (17th March 2008) had a fantastic time with my boyfriend. We stayed on a self catering basis and found this worked for us as we didnt want to be restricted to the hotel however eating out everyday and night was expensive so if you have children I would recommend at least half board. The room was nice and clean and the usual comments on this site apply needs updating etc but to me a clean room is far more important. The downside was that the rooms on the right hand side of the hotel were on a busy road and we were found it very noisy very early in the morning. We stayed in room 102 so if you get this then ask to change as this seems to be not an issue at all. The pools were freezing so I only ventured once the rest of our week was spent on the dorada beach which was lovely and we also hired bikes and cycled to the papaygos beaches which were very picturesque and had lots of little coves you could sit in etc (would only recommend this if you are quiet fit as a little uphill but only took 20mins and well worth a visit). Weather was gorgeous with only one day of cloud but take a jacket as nightime gets quite chilly. I didnt and spent every evening in t-shirt jumper and my boyfriends jacket (not the sexy look I was hoping for). All I can say is the hotel is nice and clean and the staff are friendly and the resort of playa blanca is one of the nicest I've ever been to ad I've travelled extensively. We found Mollies irish bar good fun, its a bit boring before 9pm if you dont like the football but there is live music every night which everyone gets into the swing of and no Germans seem to venutre here. The food here was excellent the garlic bread was to die for and the irish stew was also very tasty. The chinese is good value and very nice as well as all the resteraunts in the harbour. All in all I would go back for a bargain holiday which didnt feel like it at all. If anybody has any good places they could recommend for a couple with 2 children aged 8 and 11 I would be grateful as we are looking to go away again in July sometime with the kids this time.

“great little hotel, not far from beach!”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

Mar 16, 2008

spent a week at this hotel early March in a one bed appartment, two adults and a 3 year old, and had a great time! we did half board but would recommend self catering, as you then have the option to buy as and when you wish the breakfast (which is great at 6 euros - our son now loves sugar puffs and fruity pancakes!) and dinner (buffet, which was average and could get a bit boring, but plenty of choice). Netto across the road sells everything!
Hotel staff were really friendly, and although daily kids and adult activities there was no pressure to join in. The pool area was clean, and the kids playground and hut were good though a little weather beaten. the beach is lovely and only a10 min walk, would recommend the jungle bar at lunch time (sports on tv, 80's music, and staff happy for our son to dance around chasing the disco light!). first time that we've felt 1 week just wasn't long enough!

“Basic but Enjoyable”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

Mar 11, 2008

We are just back from 2 weeks Self Catering Basis at the Bahia Blanca Rock. There were 4 of us...2 adults & 2 children aged 2 & 4. The accommodation is very basic and the actual apartment itself was very cramped for 4 people. However, we didn't spend that much time in the apartment so we coped. When we arrived we decided to avail of the breakfast buffet offer which cost €6 per adult and €3 per child (you got a 15% discount on these prices if you booked more than 3 breakfasts in advance). It was well worth it and the breakfast was quite good (cereals, juices, fresh fruit, bacon, sauages, freshly made pancakes, omlettes, toast etc.) The mini club was a great facility. My children loved it & it meant my husband & I could relax at the pool (one of which was heated) for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours again in the afternoon, so everyone was happy. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. The room cleaned 6 days a week. Linen/towels changed every 2nd day. There was evening entertainment but we didn't avail of it. Even though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, I don't think we'd return to this accommodation again, next time we'd look for something a bit more special.

“Value for money and relaxing”

H10 Bahia Blanca Rock

Feb 29, 2008

Just returned on Monday 25 Feb we stayed for 1 week 2 Adults 1 Child aged 7, On arriving at the Hotel we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies who spoke very good English, Check in was lovely and easy, we sayed on an All Inclusive basis. We found our room very easily using the map they provided, Rooms as many have said before are ok for what you need but could do with a bit of updating. Pool area is great plenty of sunbeds mind you the weather was not great for us 2 days sun, 2 days cloud and 2 days rain but it was still very warm and didn't keep us in. The location is great we went along to the Marina Rubicon and they have a market there Wednesday and Saturday we had some drinks overlooking the Marina and the drinks were no more expensive than anywhere else we stopped in Playa Blanca. The food at the Hotel is ok but like most places Breakfast is always the best it caters for everyones taste whether you like to have a healthy breakfast they always had lots of fresh fruit and yoghurts or freshly cooked pancakes or the traditional English breakfast. because the hotel was not that busy the restaurant was closed during the day so with us being AI we had to order our lunch at the pool bar it was freshly cooked but sometimes all you really want is a cheese bagette and most things came with chips. Evening meals were always nice but we still always have a few meals out we went to Jumbo Chinese and Tipico Canario which were both really nice they are along the promenade towards the ferry, We also had lunch one day at Don Camillos which was very nice the restaurant was packed and you have a good view of the ferry coming in and out. The childrens entertainers were excellent our daughter isn't really one for joining in but by the end of the holiday she was up doing all the dances, The entertainment for the adults is ok but the bar area is very small and a bit warm. All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday and we will definately go back to this hotel again but on a self catering basis as all restaurants are close by. My husband went to Mollies Irish bar a few times to watch the footie and he found it a very friendly place.
