“Truly a Special Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Well we agree absolutely with all other reviews, it really is something different and such a unique hotel, we were given an emergency number when we arrived just in case, the rooms were not all occupied. A mixture of nationalities staying there, but only saw them at breakfast, we would have liked a heated ban marie to keep eggs and bacon warm, as they were cooked well in advance. This is the place to chill out as the kids say, we both read books and dozed with just the sounds of the sea beneath us. Definitely would stay again.

Room Tip: If you can afford the suite go for it.

This hotel is unique. Most of the hotels in Lanzarote cater for package holidays and are based on the same model. Casa is totally different. It has only 12 rooms, no restaurant (except for breakfast), no bar, no pool, no spa and no full-time reception staff. So what is it? It's a small private hotel. The rooms are smaller than in the package hotels but they have a quaint "colonial" style. The location is in the very centre of Playa Blanca, yet it is very very quiet. It has a super "garden" or terrace with great views over the sea and the nearby Fuerteventura. Bowl of fruit in your room when you arrive. There are some aperitif drinks available on a self-service and "honour system" (take note of your consumption and pay when you leave). It's ideal for a peaceful, quiet holiday. Not suitable for children (in fact, not at all recommended because of the stone steps down to the promenade). Free wifi in the reception area. You need to call them by phone when you need reception staff (like paying the bill before you leave). Not everybody will like this formula, but those who like it will love Casa del Embajador and keep coming back (me - 5 times).

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Stayed a week in October 2012 when the 'hotel' had no more than 8 guests whilst we were staying. I use quotes as I wouldn’t call this a hotel as there are so few staff around. We only saw four individuals who were a maid who was there each day, a gardener who was there Monday to Friday plus two receptionists - one on the evening when we arrived who then disappeared after pointing up the corridor to show us where our room was and we saw another during the evening when some new guests arrived. This was fine as long as you didn’t need anything as there was nobody to ask and no contact details though we did have the phone number of our travel company’s representative.

Having explained this unusual set-up (we wished someone had before we went) I must add that we loved the place. The location is superb both because of the wonderful views across to Fuerteventura and it’s central position in Playa Blanca as both the town centre and main beach (Doroda) are just a few minutes walk away. Casa del Embajador is set above and has direct access to the Playa Blanca promenade which surprisingly, is a very quiet position.

We treated ourselves to the one suite Casa del Embajador has which as well as offering a larger room it also had direct access to the veranda, garden and the exit to the promenade. It was a good sized room with masses of wardrobe space, large bathroom with integral shower and a huge bed (king size +) which we found a bit hard though we both slept well.

Breakfast was a buffet (which I assume was prepared by the maid) of fresh orange juice, fresh fruit, yoghurts, flasks of tea / coffee / hot water, corn flakes and muesli, cheese, ham, bread, croissants, preserves plus a toaster and a hot tray where there were some fried eggs. Nothing was replenished so if you chose to eat late then you may find that some items had gone though we always found enough to satisfy us. Breakfast was also one of the few opportunities to talk to some else who was staying at Casa del Embajador.

So to conclude we loved it, we will go back and next time I think we will enjoy Casa del Embajador even more as know what to expect.

Well, well, well. We have just come back from the " embassy ". It is delightful, words cannot describe how beautiful the whole experience was. The rooms are very clean as is the bathroom. The beds are the comfiest beds we have slept on apart from our own. The breakfast room is lovely and quaint sitting in the open air when you are in the middle of the complex. You can only get into the complex with a 4 digit code so you only see other guests.

The staff, when you see them, are very polite. We looked in then honesty bar for a bottle of rosado, however they didn't have any. We asked for some and the very next morning there were 3 different bottles chilled awaiting ourselves.

The setting is unbelievable, from the patio you can see the dorado beach one way and the restaurants the other way, however you don't hear any of them. At night you can sit on the sunbeds and chill to the sound of the sea. Each room has a sach window looking out over the sea, we never closed ours at all, you can't beat going sleep and waking upto the sounds of the ocean. We were that comfortable half way through our holiday we stopped locking our door, it's so comfortable.

All we can say is try it ! And don't forget the castors for your head because you will be completely relaxed before you know it.

If you are looking for a nice, small hotel on Lanzarote, without all the fuzz that you associate with big hotels (animation, noise, no personal touch), this is it. Excellent location, just near the ocean, beautiful view, fresh fruit at your disposal, gentle, helpful but very discreet staff, very nice terrace, simple but good breakfast (including nespresso coffee). Mind you: no pool, no airco. But yes, wi-fi is free.

Can only agree with the other recent reviews. Stayed here for 3 nights before going on to another larger hotel. The hotel is right on the seafront with access through a door on the promenade using a keypad. Very quiet and comfortable rooms. Pleasant outdoor breakfast. At one point we were the only guests staying overnight but we felt fine with that. Its an easy walk to the town centre with many bars and restaurants. Would definitely return.

We stayed in this hotel for a week and it was thoroughly relaxing. Although it is in a central location it is very quiet. The breakfasts are good and nice to eat in the open air and the rooms are spotless. The staff quietly go about their business and their is unlimited fruit and a help yourself bar with honesty form! We will return at the earliest opportunity.
