“Fantastic holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Would have been excelllent if there had been a warm pool. Everything else was great although the beds were a bit hard for us.. Service, location and food was excellent with bucks fizz (white or rose cava) for breakfast. Food in the italian restaurant & buffet restaurant was very good, breakfast was amasing. All food & drinks reasonably priced. The rooms are rustic in decor, spotlessly clean & well furnished incl fridge, tea/coffee, pool towels etc Kids club is the best we have attended, excellent team and structured entertaining activities. Adult activity timetable looked good too. Join "the club" & get a free access to the spa, gym access is free. Location to Marina & restaurants is ideal & short stroll to the beach, this is a lovely area, would definately visit again & stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: rooms 270-279 open onto 2 shallow kids pools

Have just booked the Volcan hotel Playa Blanca for July we usually go twice each year having done so for the past 5 / 6 years and always upgrade to Club Volcan always request room 560 which has always been available
Each time we visit, we see great changes. The new green Astra type covering to the Club seating out area is really beautiful and has added to the area. We are looking forward to seeing the new refurbishment to be carried out in June
The new Director General (General Manager) Ješus San Juan Suárey has certainly got the Hotel buzzing. The staff show great respect to him and this has proved to be right down to the Guest’s.
The Hotel staff are from a wide Geographical area and they enjoy having conversation’s with guests and exchange information on their culture and are interested in our culture.
We found the General Manager a most affable person who always took time to sit down with us and we had many great discussions on a wide variety of interesting subjects.
We usually go Bed and Breakfast which allows us to eat out at the Marina, although we do use the Buffet a couple of times each week
The complimentary news paper delivered to our room each morning is much appreciated
The afternoon tea is much appreciated especially by my wife and the complimentary bar which runs from 6pm to 9pm each evening is much appreciated by many of the Guests.
Having table service at breakfast is a great Plus
I must also mention the Japanese restaurant and the chef and his wife who work so hard and give great service.
Nothing more to be said except that roll on July

We enjoyed our time at this hotel. Beautiful views of the marina. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed on B&B basis - the range of food available at breakfast was great. The hotel is spacious and peaceful. We ate at the hotel bistro at lunchtime and found it to be good value.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing hotel away from it all then this is the one for you. The location is great - at the better end of Play Blanca right on top of the lovely marina, with countless restaurants and little boutique shops. The main beach at Playa Dorada is just a 10 minute stroll away. The hotel itself is clean, spacious and very impressive : the church like entrance really has the wow factor, and leads to the Volcano - the heart of the hotel with lobby, bar and shops set out on three levels. The rooms are located in a series of small interlinked white buildings - reminiscent of Portmerion as another viewer described - and are spacious and spotlessly clean (serviced every day). A few little niggles prevent The Volcan from really deserving five star status : the extra single beds provided for children are really poor quality uncomfortable camp beds, the bars are frequently closed, and the acclimatised pools too cold to use in the winter. We also noted that some of the rooms had very poor views - so its worth upgrading to a sea view if you can. Book bed and breakfast (fantastic selection at breakfast - buffet and freshly cooked - even prosecco was on offer!) and enjoy the many great restaurants within walking distance (Little Italy and the Tapas Bar right on the front are great). Maybe a tad lacking in atmosphere, but overall a lovely hotel - and considerably cheaper than the other five star accommodation in the area.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room - those without look pretty disappointing.

This hotel has a lot of great reviews so it must be doing something right.I have just spent 4 days there and don't get what all the fuss is about.Cold pools, poolside bar shut as the weather was apparently not good enough forcing me and family to walk outside and spend our money somewhere else,Lifeless and altogether a bit of a damp squib.Stayed in some great hotels...this aint one of them.

Fulfilled our requirements of a quiet weeks holiday with space to add to sun and blue skies.
The layout reminded us of Portmerion, we did not realise how many were staying until breakfast and were only reminded at that time otherwise space, louger if you wanted always available.
Staff invariably very friendly, room spacious and convenient, everywhere clean and welcoming.
Breakfasts excellent, Japanese restaurant superb, we only used other restaurants for snacks but very good value.
Location excellent for Marina and other restaurants.
Oil painting with "Wirgy" great fun and good tuition.
Don't be put off by entrance from 'round the side' and incense in 'chapel'

Room Tip: 100 and 200 hundred rooms generally more convenient

i can honestly say I have never been to such a unique and relaxing hotel. From the moment we walked through the entrance, which is a replica of a Canarian church, with the soothing tones of Gregorian chant ,to the little paths leading to the rooms with gardens, white buildings and blue sky we were amazed.
The staff were friendly and helpful, as at first it was a challenge to find the room. But this became part of the fun and meant getting to know other clients.
Breakfast was excellent. We were spoilt for choice and I enjoyed sitting in the conservatory looking out at the pool.
Swimming in the acclimatised pool was enjoyable. There were activities in the evening ,including looking at the planets through a telescope. Unfortunately it was not a clear sky that night. Next time, maybe.! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
We celebrated my husband's birthday during our stay and a birthday cake and bottle of champagne arrived at the room -a lovely surprise. Thank you very much.

Room Tip: South side garden roomwith balcony sheltered and sunny

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This luxury five star hotel, the Hotel Volcan Lanzarote, has a prime location on the seafront and together with the "Marina Rubicon" yachting harbour it constitutes a tourist resort in the southern part of the island - an area that forms part of the UNESCO's "World Network of Biosphere Reserves". The hotel is located just 10 km from the Timanfaya National Park, 900 metres from the picturesque fishing village of Playa Blanca, where you will find shopping centres, bars and restaurants, and just 30 minutes from the International Airport of Arrecife. Andres Pineiro, the chief architect of the project, chose a design based on a complex of classical buildings that are a true reflection of the typical architectural style of the island. The design of the hotel is reminiscent of a typical village of Lanzarote, with romantic patios, traditional courtyards and secluded spots, together with the magnificent hotel entrance which is a replica of the Teguise church of "Ntra. Sra. de Guadalupe". With its unique architecture and the distinguished service of a luxury hotel, the Hotel Volcan Lanzarote is an icon within the high end segment of the tourism sector. ... more   less
