We visited this restaurant a couple of times. The location is excellent overlooking the marina, and although they had put removeable windows up, when it was really windy it was still quite draughty.
They brought bread with olives and crushed tomatoes with garlic to the table whilst we ordered our starters.
For starters we tried the tropical prawn cocktail Rhode Island style (basically means with pineapple) for around 7 euros. Really delicious and would recommend it if you like prawn cocktails.
The sautéed scallops with ham and mushrooms was a huge disappointment – two tiny scallops for 10.75 euros – not value for money at all and wouldn’t recommend.
The cold toast of salmon with crab salad was pretty tasty and not a bad portion size.
For main courses we tried the cod with garlic mule, fried egg, potatoes and vegetables, which was tasty and nicely presented. Reasonable value at 14.75 euros.
Cherne with green sauce – which was a little bland for 16.75 euros.
And the fresh fish which was sole of the Atlantic with potatoes and tomatoes. Very good dish if you like fresh fish and for a sole it was surprisingly plump.
This was the only place where we found (and drank Verve cliquot) so it got top marks for that.
The food was pretty good but the service was variable. At first we had a lovely waitress who was engaging and attentative and the “main man” who was courteous and helpful but the second time we visited we had a young waiter who didn’t possess many social skills. He gave the impression that he didn’t want to be there and also that he didn’t want us to be there either. He did sour the evening a little as everything seemed to be too much trouble for him. Luckily the food saved the evening with the gorgeous fresh fish.
I would go back and have that meal again and with a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, the average price for two of us was around 72 euros.
