“Honest positives and negatives”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

We have just spent a very pleasant week at the Vik Coral Beach I will give you a very honest opinion, the rooms, the pool area, restaurant and staff were all great. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The food was quite good for AI with quite a good variety and if your looking for a relaxed quiet chilled week round the pool then the Vik would be ideal, a couple of things that iI wasn't keen on was that the towels didn't get changed as often as I woud have liked and the bar for the evening didn't start serving drinks until 9.30pm although there was a large outside seating area next to the restaurant where you could still get drinks at the restaurant bar but on a windy night it was too cold to sit outside. The daily/evening entertainment was varied but very low key (if your looking for shows then this isn't the place for you) but all in all quite good for a relaxed week round the pool although wherever the beach which s a very pleasant 45-50 minute walk which we didn't mind as it gave us some exercise although the hotel provides a shutte bus 3 times a week

Good food, nice and relaxing location, staff helpful, Villa very spacious and well laid out. Only one thing we were not happy with was the comfort of the settee in the lounge. You really do need a car as location a long way from Playa Blanca but car hire is cheap in Lanzarote and the roads are very easy to find your way around. Would recommend this complex to all reading my review.

Stated here for one week for a 'baby moon' as I'm six months pregnant with our first child. We were looking for a relaxing break somewhere warm and that is exactly what we got. The villa's are great, we were upgraded to a sea view huge villa with two bedrooms and kitchen, lovely to go to sleep listening to the sea. As the complex is almost at the furthest point of the island it is very peaceful and quiet which was perfect for us.

Other guests were a really nice mix of Europeans and all seem very chilled- no Brits abroad and no crazy towel tactics for sunbeds! Food was ok, nothing amazing but some good selections; Paella with fresh prawns very good as was freshly grilled chicken and fish, vegetables were mainly overlooked but salads were very good- enough to make sure baby bump got the required 5 portions per day!. Breakfast selection was good, some items were a bit tired after standing in hotplates( scrambled eggs a couple of mornings had seen better days!),

we took a taxi into playa blanca a couple of nights, resort was actually better than expected- Cesar Manrique inspired architecture means that the town has quite an authentic Spanish feel to it so not quite as touristy as I imagined it to be. Yes there were a selection of touristy pubs and full English/Sunday lunch type places on main drag, but these could easily be avoided and we found a few lovely authentic Canarian restaurants with a good mix of locals vs tourists.

Had we wanted a more active break I think we would definitely have hired a car. For the price we paid; £400 each for flights and accommodation it was worth it just for villa hire and you could then choose food on an ad hoc basis.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful, in restaurant and reception. We did see a lady organising some activities but we weren't really up for taking part and certainly there was no pressure, it was all very low key and relaxed (have previously stayed in places where you can't rest because the 'animation' team take it upon themselfs to badger you every minute, so this was good for us!)

Would recommend to those wanting some winter sun and relaxing break.

Tried this holiday in January for a week. The hotel is located in the southwest corner 1 hours walk from Playa Blanca and the walk to the beaches not for the unfit. That is the criticism over. The rooms are 2 or 3 bedroom villas (comfortable beds) with a lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The pool is a maximum of 50 meters away. We went all inclusive and it is great value. The food was more than adequate (1 week was enough) and the drink spendid. Excellent beer (help yourself). wine and spirits. The staff were friendly, helpful with a good sense of humour. There is nothing else to do (no problem for me) but I do advise renting a car. See the island and we drove up the small mountains most evenings to watch the sun set into the sea from a local bar. The temperature was warm during the day (up to 25c) and chilly in the evening (10c) with a wind. The hotel was only 25% full so it may be different during popular times. NOT for young families but perfect for friends who enjoy each others company. A wonderful winter break after the start to the winter at home. The cost - £107 for the air ticket and £196 for the hotel. Luggage and car extra but to me this value could not be beaten,

Room Tip: Villas facing west on the coast are more expensive. The cheapest are only 3 minues from the view

Upon arrival here, the staff were very welcoming ( glass of bubbly ) and very helpful. and this continued for the whole week. Having checked in, we made our way to the villa . The villa was extremely spacious, especially for 2 people and could probably sleep 5 . The restaurant was a 2 minute walk away with a good quality a very varied selection. Breakfast started at 8am and evening meal finished at 9pm, and there was plenty to eat for the full 13 hours . The staff in the restaurant were always very attentive and efficient . If there was 1 slight drawback, it was the evening entertainment, usually a bit of a quiz with Gema , and the odd bird or reptile show thrown in for 20 minutes. The main resort of Playa Blanca is a 5 euro taxi ride or an hour and a half walk along the promenade via the lighthouse. All in all this is a lovely hotel, and definitely worth a return visit.

We stayed here in February and would definitely go back. All the staff were really helpful, friendly and welcoming. The villas were great and Gema the animator was brilliant. The restaurant always had lots of choice and the food was excellent. We couldnt believe how efficient the staff in the bar and restaurant were. Don't be put off by some negative reviews of the location. It's quite a way from Playa Blanca centre but it doesn't matter. There was always some entertainment in the evening and there was Sky Sports at the Snug bar just a short walk away. We had a really great holiday.

Room Tip: We had Villa 28. Close to restaurant, pool, bar and restaurant. Very pleasant location.

Just home from Vik Club Coral Beach in Playa Blanca. Stayed in Two Bedroom Villa which was spacious and clean with a big comfortable bed. Stayed in Villa no.13 which had a sea view with a terrace.very quiet and private. Payed €6.00 per day for pool sunbed on our terrace which was a bit expensive but worth it. Stayed all inclusive, food o.k. could do with a better selection but always found something we could eat. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff worked very hard but were always pleasant. Only downside was hotel is situated a bit far outside Playa Blanca, needed to get a Taxi (approx €6.00 one way) but knew this before we booked. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday we would recommend Coral Beach.

Dear Scaldersx2,

Thank you for reviewing the VIK Club Coral Beach at this website and for letting us know our good things and the not so good ones.

We are glad you liked the villas and that you found it spacious and clean and that you could relax among us.

There was a time that most of our guest wanted to take the sunbeds to their villas, and the result was that the pool area was empty. As we want them to remain at the pool side we decided to start charging them.

To sum up, thank you for being our guest and we are looking forward to meeting you again in Lanzarote.

Best regards,

Anxa Martínez.
