“Great place for local fish and views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We visited here in the evening twice. It's right in the middle of Playa Blanca seafront with lovely views of the sea from the outside tables or tables inside (ask for window seats (obviously) if booking by phone). They specialise in fresh fish and probably-Spanish meat (Iberian pork - fresh and cured, steak and lamb). Portions of mains are big and usually served with Canarian potatoes (baked and salted) and a small portion of whatever other veg is available. We've eaten local fish, squid and pork here but have seen others eat the Chateaubriand steak which looked pretty gorgeous. It's quite a smart restaurant and they do a lot of cooking and serving at table which is very entertaining. They brought green olives and bread on both visits (the olives were the best we found and to die for) - we thought they were gratis but 2 euros appeared on the bill (worth it though). We did have gratis choice of liqueur (we had rum and honey (a Canarian speciality) and vodka and caramel (apparently international)). Not the cheapest place to eat but it's lovely, the staff are friendly and the buzz in the restaurant is good. This is where we discovered one of the wonderful local white wines (Yaiza). As with all the Lanzarote places we visited, it would be useful to have a translation of the local fish handy as the staff often don't know the English version and it's interesting to know what one is eating.

“Best restaurant in Playa Blanca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

My partner and I both working in the industry ourselves , couldn't praise this restaurant more. We loved it so much that we came back three times during our stay. This place is totally different from all the tourist traps and brings you back in time with their dishes and service, such as the crepes suzette that the owner himself flambed in front of us. The paella was just divine, the seafood couldn't be fresher. An amazing restaurant and absolutely fantastic service.

“Amazing Birthday meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

I was recommended to go for my birthday meal. What a superb evening it was. The service was excellent, the starter of the mushrooms were delicious and the flambéed steak with blue cheese sauce was to die for. I was presented with a chocolate desert with a birthday candle and a very chilling glass of lemon cello. What a way to celebrate my 46th Birthday. Will hopefully go back before we leave.

“A Real Playa Blanca Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

This restaurant offers great service, great views, great food, great wine and is certainly one of the best restaurants in Playa Blanca. We ate here on the last night of our holiday, which was a shame as we would have had many, many meals here if we had found it earlier in our holiday. Highly, highly recommended, a must.

“Choices of Restaurants in Playa Blanca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We stayed at the Princess Yaiza Hotel and although the restaurants in the hotel were lovely its nice to find the local eating houses.
We didn't find much at the marina end of Playa Blanca, the restaurants were nice looking but the food didn't seem to match the décor and the prices were inflated slightly against the old town (opposite direction).
At the old town end we found two restaurants that we liked and were owner run and typically Canarian / Spanish. The first one is La Chalanita, which is upstairs if approaching from the promenade about 2 thirds towards the ferries from The Princess Yaiza Hotel. The food was lovely, staff & owner very attentive, flambés in front of you, prices very good, with your choices available in Playa Blanca, We visited 3 times during our week stay. highly recommended.

Sadly I can't remember the name of the other recommended restaurant, its pale green and white on the promenade about 30/40 feet before you reach La Chalanita just on the bend, Great for fish dishes & traditional paella, the owner seems a bit grumpy but he's not really. I'll add the name late if I think of it.
