Location wise, I disagree with other comments, the hotel is most definitely in the nicer, quieter end of Playa Blanca - leaving from the pool exit onto the promenade you have a 10 minute walk right to a quiet lighthouse on the peninsula and left, a 30 to 40 minute scenic walk along the promenade to the "centre of town" (bikes can be hired from the shop over the road from the hotel for a small charge if you prefer to cycle or a taxi will cost around 4 euros).
The guests staying at the hotel are predominantly German and Spanish, but no favouritism was shown to any nationality of guest by any staff. The staff were extremely helpful and the animation team were great!
With regards to food, the buffet was faultless - very Spanish but still catering for a British palate. Luna Rosa, just 2 minute walk from the hotel is a great Italian and cheap, if you fancy a change. The Ibiza style bar below is also great for a change of scenery, puts on much better entertainment than the hotel itself and has brilliant cocktails!
Drinks in the hotel are quite expensive - 7euro for a cocktail and around 3.50 for a beer which when you consider the island is tax free is a bit cheeky, never the less we found throughout Playa Blanca drinks weren't really cheap at all - although the measures are very generous!
The room was a comfortable size, clean and well kept by staff. Air conditioning worked extremely well – too cold on occasion and the use of the mini bar is 9 euros per week – hardly a drama. There was no safe in the room, safes are located at reception. Pool towels can be borrowed from the hotel
Although my partner and I are both under 30, we felt that a week here was fine, any longer and we would have needed more money to go on many excursions to keep entertained – we did find a couple of Irish bars where the entertainment was good – Papagayo is the liveliest place for bars and at that it’s pretty small and quiet. Great for a young family or older couples to chill out, a lot of people and ourselves included commented on how safe we felt in the hotel and in and around Playa Blanca.
