First visit to Lanzarote and we thought the Gran Castillo was a beautifully laid out hotel. All the staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely with pool and sea view and we even got a bottle of cava and a red rose for my husbands birthday. The food in the restaurant was superb and even a lady playing a violin at breakfast some mornings. There was nightly entertainment though some nights were definitely better than others! We were there in January so the weather was warm and some days cloudy but it was perfect for strolling down the promenade and there is no shortage of different places to sunbathe around the hotel All areas of the hotel were spotless and we returned home feeling relaxed and lightly tanned. We would recommend this hotel.

We returned for our third visit to this wonderful hotel for this New Year. We have been for an Easter break and two New Year breaks. The New year meal is a sight to behold with a huge array of wonderful foods including fresh lobster. The New Year entertainment is excellent with some very good opera singers. All our visits have been such fun and from the moment we step through the door we relax knowing we don't have to do anything for a week! We have stayed twice in a suite which gives us our own bedroom and ensuite and the kids their own bedroom and ensuite and a large lounge inbetween and a large balcony. Everything is spotless. The staff are very friendly and helpful. All the restaurant staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The Italian restaurant was good. The chinese food was also good but the wait to be served was too long. The stroll along the cliffs to the Rubicon marina is very picturesque and a daily event this time. The kids love everything about this hotel from the pools to the lovely food which they can help themselves to and the rock pooling on the beach just outside the hotel. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a totally relaxing break, lovely food, super beaches and friendly staff. Abdulae is top chef and 'best of friend'. ENJOY!

Just back from a week in Gran Castillo and really enjoyed it. Absolutely ideal for anyone travelling with young children (although its not over-run with kids so I'd happily recommend it for non-kid families too!).

Room was superb - I agree with another review that tea/coffee facilities in the room would have been nice, and also the hotel can't/won't provide an iron for guests to use so don't pack anything that creases easily....

Food was lovely, no complaints, especially as we were all-inclusive and travelling with a two year old - it suited us perfectly. Requested a regular table outside on the deck which is much more pleasant than the inside of the restaurant. I understand other's comments that the food could be repetitive but that really only applies to salads and sides; there was literally 50/60 different foods to chose from at every meal.

Staff were great - especially the Animation Team who made a real effort with everyone - I admire their dedication and enthusiasm! Kids evening entertainment was great; the shows for adults really shouldn't be taken seriously!

We will definitely be back.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at this great hotel.I travelled with my husband son daughter-in -law and 17month old grandaughter. We were impressed by the hotel from the moment we arrived in reception and were handed a glass of wine while the car was taken to the garage for us.We had family rooms which were very large and comfortable, with a huge bed and good sittng areaThe bathroom was very big with a seperate shower cubicle and toiletThe food was also excellent.the choice in the main restaurant was unbeleivable with 2 chefs cooking to order. We also ate at the chinese which was good, but there was only a limited menu, and the italian which was lovely with excellent fillet steaks as well as pasta dishes and pizzas. Our grandaughter was given special baby food at all 3 restaurants. The staff in the restaurants were lovely. They would always find a table for us if it was busy at breakfast and they couldnt do enough for the baby. The animation staff were also fantastic and so hardworking both in the daytime and in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed the shows they put on which included many musicalsThere was also a couple of professional shows on during our stay ,the chinese acrobats were brilliant. Our grandaughter loved the mini disco every evening bouncing around on her dads knee! The hotel is situated right at the Papagayo end of Playa Blanca but it is a nice level walk along the seafront ,past the marina, and into town, about 40 mins stroll, with plenty of cafes to stop at on the way.Thank you to all the staff for a really lovely holiday and hope to see you next year..

We ( myself and 3 friends ) had a fantastic holiday at this hotel. From the start on arrival we was offered a glass of champagne. Excellent junior suite, clean comfortable and well positioned.
The restaurant was fantastic, such a big choice daily. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly as were all the hotel staff that we met.
The bar was well stocked and as all inclusive we made the most of it. The bar staff were friendly and fun.
The animation team however were amazing, a full day of activity if you wanted or just a friendly chat if you didn't. Great shows every night, very well done.
Loved it and would definitely go back and have already recommended To friends.

Room Tip: Junior suite was lovely

What a lovely, clean, relaxing, first class Hotel! I stayed at this Hotel with my husband, 4year old and 5 month old and I have to say its up there with some of the best places we have stayed. The check in when arrived was straight forward and quick with friendly reception staff! The family room we requested was massive and a great size balcony! We were given the ground floor which was fab when you have a buggy! Italian and Chinese restaurants were lovely, main buffet restaurant was also good especially the grill where you could have your pick of fish, chicken, veal etc! Really nice staff without being over the top, lovely down to earth waitress who chatted to my boys and was very customer focused, she was from Cuba but her name I can't recall! Pool areas and bars all of a five star standard, quickly served at all times. The kids club I have to say was out of this world especially Sarah who organised the kids activities, my son Alfie every day asked to go and just adored Sarah as she had an excellent way with the kids, every day they done different activities! We had sun loungers close to the club and felt we could relax with our Son in Sarah's care! She was also part of the entertainment team that was just amazing for the time and effort that they put into shows and the kids disco! We had a really enjoyable holiday and are now going to book for next year!

Went in a group of 5 girls, rooms were large and clean, good sized bathroom with separate shower, towels changed daily. only downfall no tea/coffee facilitties in the room. Staff were very friendly and willing to accomodate our needs as we had one member of the party who was unwell and needed to use a wheelchair.
Wheelchair access was excellent.
Food was buffet style with wide variety, also the Italian restaurant had just been refurbished and was satisfactory.
All staff from managers to cleaners were friendly and could not do enough to assist us.
I would definitely go again and recommend it to friends.
Also used the Spa whilst there, which was very good and again staff very helpful.
