“A hidden gem for sure”

Es Mitjorn Hostal

Mar 25, 2008

Last yr, I had the pleasure of staying at Mitjorn Hostal. It is a great find!!! And thanks to my dear cousin who found this place. The rooms are fantastic, clean and comfortable. The room we had was a sea facing one and the view was incredible to say the least. The guys who run the place are incredible friendly and they suggested some great day trips.

Ibiza as a destination is incredible, why I say this is because, like many folks, I too went to Ibiza to party. Once I got there, I soon realized that Ibiza has awesome beaches which are exceptionally beautiful. Ibiza is very touristy and expensive, so a long stay here could set you back substantially. I stayed there for just 3 days and probably that's the reason I really enjoyed my holiday.

So let's get to the main activity on this island. Partying!!! Well there is nothing like a weekend or a week day on this island in terms of nightlife. So, each night belong to a club which will host a major party promoted by some big time event managers. (For eg - Privilege which is the world's biggest nighclub hosts a party called "manumission" which is on Friday's and everybody goes there. Sunday's belong to Space) So every night u need to find out which club is hosting what event and simply head there. Admissions are very expensive. 50 Euro/person for entry only. Insane... I know!!! I did party at Privilege on Friday for the Manumission... and to be honest it was a massive party but not the greatest party I have ever been to. It was over crowded, too many drunk people in a night club some 14,000 thousand of em. On the saturday night, I hit Pacha. It was a really an awesome party. It was NOT their big night, yet there was a very good crowd, the night club on the whole is very impressive, the music was great!!! Evenings during sunset hit Cafe Mambo or Cafe del Mar or in fact any of the bars along the boulevard.

Other than partying I suggest you should take the island hopping trip from San Antonio Port. It's good fun exploring a part of the east coast. I would recommend you hit the Cala Conta beach. It's the best. A must go.

San Antonio is area you would want to stay only if you want to be in the heart of the action. The night clubs are all spread out in different areas. So if you think that you'll be next to the night clubs by staying in San Antonio, then you'll be in for a shock. San Antonio is where all the youngsters stay and drink and hang around. There are pro's and con's. The pro's obviously being the access to bars, restaurants and all the rest of it. But on the downside getting out of San Antonio is horrible. The public transport sucks. The lack of adequate number of Taxi's can really annoy you. There will always be a queue in the taxi stands waiting for taxi's to come by.

Anyways, if your going to Ibiza and staying where the action is, then Mitjorn Hostal is the place to be.

“What a find !!!!!”

If you are looking for accommodation that is very reasonably priced, centrally located in San Antonio, spotlessly clean, has air-conditioning, free internet access and a great host (thanks Tony!) then you need look no further!!!

The Es Mitjorn is a fantastic little hotel that is only minutes from all of the main San An spots and if the price had been double what I paid, I would not have been disappointed!!

I've seen at least 5 of the rooms as I was travelling with friends, and they all have new bathrooms, really nice clean and simple decor, decent sized wardrobes with excellent shelving, safe boxes and balconies with decent views!! The hallways are all lit with ambient mood lighting at night and if you need anything, nothing is too much trouble for the owner and his family - what a nice bunch of people!!

The pool and terrace is quite small, but its unshaded for the whole day and we never had a problem getting a sunlounger!! You can get food and drinks from the bar at most hours too!

I normally stay at the Bellamar which is in San An Bay, and to be honest, the Mitjorn is better located and is around 3 times less expensive!!

This hotel is an absolute gem of a find, and I will most certainly be back in 2007!

I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed my most recent trip to Europe, specifically Ibiza, Spain. Now I want to express that I was not at first the most lively person in this hedonistic meccha (mind you the foam parties and such dont actually start in full swing until the middle of June) because of my extreme jetlag due to being on planes for 36 hours, but I did loosen up and have a wonderful time. I stayed at Hotel/Hostal Mitjorn from May 30th thru June 2nd, 2006 with my best friend/ex-girlfriend. I could not have asked for a picturesque location and stunning view. We requested the corner room on the top floor facing the harbor and it was amazing. We had great terrace that wrapped around the outside giving us a near 180 degree view. The accomodations were sparse but homey and comfortable. Plenty of room to spread your stuff out and still have room to relax. The bathroom are amazingly clean and spacious. The beds are a bit to be desired especially if you are trying to curl up next to someone, because they are two twin beds. Outside the lobby there is a great patio and swimming pool. Inside the lobby there is a bar/restaurrant where you can get food most the day. There is free internet access availble to guests which rules. The room does come with breakfast as well. Simple fare of juice, tea, coffee, toast, cereal, and fruit...much like American continental breakfast items. Toni is the manger and he was a nice enough fellow, but obviously there were a few breakdowns in communication causing a ruffling of feathers. Mitjorn is pretty centrally located in San Antonio and is within walking distance to everything. The harbor is about 100 yards away (I hate metric measurements). The main streets with all the food, shopping, bars, and dancing is within 100 yards as well. Es Paradise is about 500 yards away, across from another hot spot Eden. Despite the rainy weather the first two days, the last two days were sunny and awesome. We took a harbor cruise out to one of the other beaches, Conta Costa. The round trip boat ride was I think 12 euros and the chair rental on the beach was 5 euros for all day...leave early for the beach, around 10 to 11 am so you can stay till 5 pm. I would not say there are very many interesting, savory, or even tempting options as far as dining is concerned, but you learn to make the best of it. This is very convient locale.
