“Sensational!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

Having been to Ibiza many times we have not realised that there is such a paradis of a hotel - for romantic hideaway, honeymoon or simple relaxing with the family in a quiet, tranquil, happy sourrounding with superb staff - starting from Guiseppe the Manager and with Alessandro from the Restaurant.
Best place we have been to in a long time!

We stayed for 13 nights in suite 7 which was set away from the main building and the other suites and loved it! The room was spacious & accommodating; providing a living room space with flat screen TV /DVD, a large four post bed which was hard so be warned!! The bathroom was all marble and the Jacuzzi tub with a very suspect tap connection shower which flooded the bathroom if you wasn’t to careful. The terrace was private and not overlooked which was a bonus as people tended to stay out by the pool to quite late relaxing. The grounds were well maintained and the photos do not do the hotel justice at all as it is truly beautiful.
The restaurant was lovely. We always ended up having breakfast late but so did all the other guests at the hotel. The presentation of food was fresh if you could discount the wasps sharing the ham with you and limited in choice and on more than one occasion if the hotel was full limited in quantity. At night a few times we found ourselves eating dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and so was the wine list. (The steak melted in your mouth) And I would agree with other comments that the ambience was a perfect ending to a long day. The menu was well priced and the quality was outstanding but again limited. After we dined we took ourselves off to sit by the pool with our Brandy and reflect on the day.
The Hotel Staff were wonderful, Alex who appeared to run the restaurant couldn’t do enough for you a true Professional. Maria the receptionist always remembered what you had to drink; even the gardener went out of his way to help you. It’s a shame the Manager didn’t live up to his colleagues and having had a conversation with him on a few issues only one drinking glass in the room/the room wasn’t cleaned one day/towels not left another day/mini bar not replenished every day/ I broke a glass and the floor wasn’t swept properly which was reported immediately) it became apparent there was no quality checks taking place, just empty promises!!!!!
Sa Talaia is a beautiful relaxing place BUT for the money a beautiful atmosphere just isn’t enough. We came to the hotel at very short notice and it wouldn’t have been on our list of choices but the Sa Talaia did provide us with a base to unwind from the stresses of everyday life but could have offered so much more with so little effort. What a shame!

I agree with the last review about some things. i.e. if you are looking to be waited on hand and foot and for first class service, then this isn't the place for you! If you're looking for total peace and quiet and somewhere to recover after a hard night out without getting disturbed then this place is perfect.

We thought it was a great little find, however, if I were to run the hotel, i'd do some things differently.

We stayed in room number 4, which was a junior suite. It was actually located out of the main building - however only about 15 yards away. We could also see the main road to Ibiza Town from our terrace, although we weren't disturbed by the noise. I did feel a little bit uncomfortable about the location of the hotel. It is actually not overlooked by any other buildings - therefore, I did feel a little uneasy about this but that's just a personal thing. It could be a good thing to other people.

Location is great. Near to San Antonio and only 15 mins away from Ibiza Town.

Great pool - very big. Breakfast was lovely. Have the ham and cheese omlettes!

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and we would certainly return. BUT I'd probably request to stay in the main building.

this is a lovely building in a great location - fantastic setting and easy enough to get to the sights and sounds of the island. this could be the perfect place to stay, but for a few problems:

the service - whilst friendly enough on arrival, after this point the service is non existent - the staff do a great dissapearing act (when I say staff i only ever saw 3 different people) - if you need anything you have to search all over the hotel for someone - this is not the place to stay if you want attentive service or someone to look after you.

the bathroom - stayed in the suite ducal - a lovely room, but no shower! just a hand hald in the bath - it wouldnt take much to fix this to the wall and would make a big difference!

the pool area - this is a stunning setting and soooo idyllic - except... they are about a dozen speakers (cunningly disguised as rocks) around the area, mostly right next to the day beds, and these play 'chill' music all day. at volume. I love chill music, it is part of the fabric of the island. but 8 hours a day?! any requests to turn it down or off fell on deaf ears. pardon the pun. why spoil such a glorious setting? leave the soundtrack to nature!

overall, if you want to go somewhere and just completely relax and never see anyone from the day you arive then this is the place...

if you are going, the things i would recommend are:

a night in ibiza town - a meal at one of the restaraunts in the walls of d'alt vita then outside one of the bars in the busy streets.

a meal at l'elephant then drinks on the terrace

el-divino for a night

cafe mambo for the sunset - book ahead for a table on the front.

  • Liked — location and glorious setting
  • Disliked — service and incessant pool music

Located away from the noise and hurry is an excellent choice in Ibiza. Surrounded by a pine tree forest the rooms and the service are superior, the restaurant also is excellent.
Unforgettable place strongly recommended!!!!!!!!

Very disappointing. Most days, there was a cook, a waitress and a chambermaid and that's it! (No English spoken) Briefly a manageress would appear who had some English. The A La Carte menu frequently had items unavailable ,one evening desert was ice cream or ice cream! No shower and bath had no bath plug. Sofa bed unuseable, so pool sunlouger mattresses used. We will never return
