This was our first visit to Marina Player and I was swayed by the photos and reveiws, I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. We consider ourselves to be Ibiza vetrans as we have been visiting this wonderful Island every summer for the past 16 years. First impressions when arriving in the reception area was that it looked very clean and minimalist. We were dealt with very efficiently and made to feel welcome. The room was cool and comfortable with all equipment necessary for a self catering apartment. We had room 205 which was at the front and offered spectacular seaviews and sunsets. The room was spacious and had plently of storage space. The pool area and terrace was very impressive and we particuarly enjoyed the DJ set from the resident DJs from 12-12 every day. The staff were polite and professional at all times. We had one evening meal on the terrace and it was well presented, delicious and reasonably priced. We stayed for 1 week in July, there were plently of loungers and umbrellas around the pool. The only negative aspect - which is no fault of the staff was a loud group of guys on a stag do who some what "lowered" the tone around the pool. The staff handled the situation well enough but were very apologetic about their behaviour, it is people like these who spoil the ambience they tried to crerate for other guests. There are plenty of cheaper, rough hotels and apartments in San Antonio who would not mind these type of guests!! Apart from that, the Marina Player is a high end establishment in the bay, suited more for couples and those who prefer the finer things in life. We will definately be returning next year.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a seaview room. You can be far away from the crowds on the sunset stripbut enjoy a dri...

Stayed here for a week in the middle of July with my boyfriend and we had a lovely week at the Marina Playa. We've both been to Ibiza several times both together and with friends and this is definitely the best place we have stayed. Lovely, newly refurbished rooms (the maids come each day to clean and replace towels etc), beautiful view of the sunset - so lovely to relax on the balcony in the evening before getting ready to go out. Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful! Seen lots of mentions that there aren't enough sunloungers; we were never up early enough for a lounger and of course you get people putting their towels down super early, but there were always plenty of seats and tables available and we spent every day lounging out the settees (umbrellas also available for when it gets too hot). Amazing cocktails, reasonable prices, the pizza is delicious (had to try it again on our last day!), and we decided to eat on the terrace one evening too, tried the hake and the chicken kebabs and both were lovely with generous portions. Absolutely loved the music around the pool, the DJs were excellent and made a lovely change from listening to the usual Enrique/Shakira/Pitbull on a loop! This was proper house/deep house and I didn't put my own headphones in once.

Would definitely love to come back next year, just hope we can afford it and prices don't go up too much - wouldn't be surprised if this place gets very popular! I shouldn't write such a positive review really should I! Thanks Marina Playa!

Room Tip: Had a balcony/sea view room and it was worth every penny. we were right by the lift and stairs on th...

Stayed here for a week with my boyfriend in July and had the most amazing time.
To start with this hotel is in perfect location in San Antonio Bay, about a 10minute walk along the beautiful beachside to the bustling nightlife, but located in a peaceful area not too close to the noise at night time. Perfect for those nights when you just want to relax and take in the view from your balcony. Paying the little extra for a sea view balcony is definitely recommended.
Our room size was brilliant, lovely and spacious, we were booked self catering and although the kitchen quiet small, it's all you need for a week away in the sun.
The connected resturaunt downstairs definitely steered us away from the kitchen in our room though, and they really did go above and beyond with every dish. From delicious thin and crispy, rustic pizzas to beautifully cooked steaks, and the prawns although one of the more expensive items on the menu, defiantly worth the money if you fancy indulging one day!!
The staff were welcoming and friendly and received a bottle of water on arrival after our trip, which was a lovely gesture after the travel.
The poolside area was one of the most relaxing I ever been to. With music starting at around 12am (not too early) and gradually building up from chill out to a more lively house/reggae vibe in the evening.
Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone, thank you to the hotel and staff for making our stay one to remember!

Had a good experience at Marina Playa. I read they recently refurbished the hotel and it looked very clean and fresh. We had a room in the first floor with a balcony with sea views, it was very nice, had a nice drink and chill out there from time to time.
All the staff we're very nice and helpful. Not all staff spoke great english but enough to get by, as a Spanish speaker it really wasn't a problem for me at all if I did encounter someone who diddnt speak english.

I am always careful with thieves in Spain that's why I always get a safe key and keep everything valuable in there, diddnt have any problems at all.

The drinks we're reasonably priced and had offers for 5 bud beer bottles in a ice bucket for 10 euros which was good. They do offer you beds to lay in be sun with a minimum spend of 50 euros but to be honest drinking on the sun beds by the pool was pleasant enough.

The food was very good for the price, best home made pizzas we had in Ibiza. We had a Greek salad twice which was very nice. We also ordered the king prawns and they were delicious, better than we had from an expensive restaurant out near the bay!
The breakfast was good. The only thing I diddnt like was the sausages, they we're pretty bad, avoid them.

The entertainment was good they always had music at the pool which was anything from chillout, spanish music, house music and reggae. They also have djs and live acts in the afternoon and evenings.

The location was perfect as it was just outside of San Antonio bay strip so you never had a problem with noise if you wanted a quiet evening. It is about a 10 minute walk to the centre of the bars and clubs and it's a nice short walk in the sun by the sea.

The WIFI was good when I'm the pool and lobby area, it is however pretty slow and annoying in the room we we're in and we we're just one floor above the pool and lobby directly above it! We seem to get a decent signal in the toilet but that's it.

So very few points I think the need addressing and I would recommend people to stay here.

Lovely hotel although Bar prices were expensive. My son bought a bottle of vodka for the party of friends there and it was 350 euros! However they threw in the mixers.
That wasn't the worst though. On the evening of arrival one of our party's room was robbed. Cases and clothes taken. Then 2 days later a couple we met on the terrace were also robbed! Both rooms were on the ground floor.
Beware!!
The hotel was well placed and clean.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review, I’m happy to hear you liked the location and cleanliness. However we are very sorry to hear of your experience during your stay at our hotel. As you would expect we take incidents of this nature very seriously.
We do apologize if you found the price of a bottle of vodka too expensive. This was a bottle of 1,75l for one of the bests vodkas. We invite you to try other places and compare prices (where the same bottle costs 700€)
At Marina Playa we endeavour to deliver a high standard of service and your feedback is very much appreciated.
We hope to see you again in the future and wish you the very best.
Kind regards,
María

My boyfriend had stayed here a couple of years ago and recommended it, it had been refurbished since last time and the rooms were really lovely, the n'espresso coffee machine is a nice little touch and they give you 3 complimentary coffee pods. We paid extra for a sea view which also overlooks the pool and it was worth it if like us you like to sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by. There are live DJ's on every day playing house music/balearic beats poolside and its a bit of a party atmosphere which we enjoyed as we like that sort of music but can see it would be annoying to those that didn't. There were always plenty of sunloungers and they also have the 4 poster beach beds (think they are trying to turn it into a beach club) at a cost of £60euro. I would definitely come back again. The staff were really helpful and pleasant I don't really have anything to fault it on.

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view room.

Having read all the positive reviews, a large party of us were booked in to stay here whilst our friends got married. Upon arrival we were won over with the beautiful rooms and lobby which lolled us into a false sense of security.

We quickly came to realise Marina Playa wasn't all it made out to be. Although there were no 'pool rules' displayed and staff served drinks in glass, a minor incident of us bringing drinks up from the adjoining bar downstairs turned into a huge debacle which really put a downer on our stay. A member of the bar staff was so rude about what had happened, screaming at us, intimidating us and banning all of the party from the pool. I was lost for words, it was appalling. Thank goodness for a kind soul in reception who apologised for his friends rash behaviour explaining that he was simply 'stressed', otherwise we would have checked out there and then.

Needless to say, we spoke to the manager about the altercation and were offered a deep apology and free bottle of cava. We never got the bottle of cava and the member of staff who had verbally attacked us never offered an apology but have us cold stares throughout the rest of our stay.

As very adult people we didn't want to judge the hotel by one member of staff and so attempted to forget the incident and enjoy ourselves. This was short lived as we soon experienced another disaster by the pool. Surrounding the pool are double beds, curtained off to protect you from the sun. On each bed was a sign explaining that to use the bed there was a minimum spend of €60 per bed. Given the lack of enough sun loungers we were forced to use these, but easily made the minimum spend in refreshments and food. On the first day we paid our tab of €107.

A couple of days later we were forced into the beds again and made sure to spend money to secure our spots. However this time the bar staff decided to change the rules of the beds. They now stayed that it was a minimum spend of €60 per person, per bed. When I pointed out the signs and stated our previous experience the staff were very aggressive about the policy. I can only presume that this is a scam as the signs were clear enough and we clarified the rules when we first got there.

To further evidence this scam I was told by the same member of staff that there was a maximum of two people per bed. So under his new rules the minimum spend now had increased to €120. This is very funny as walking round the beds and asking over families it was clear the rules were different each time. One party of three had paid €180, despite staff saying there could only be a maximum of two people, others just paid €60.

I was quite frankly astounded such behaviour could go on and have never in my life experienced customer service like it. Talking of our experiences to a local bar owner, she said she'd heard the same story from a lot of people staying at this hotel and that it was a very lucrative scam.

We thought that this was the worst it would get, but oh, things continued on a steady decline with staff making up bar bills and cancelling one of our rooms without notice.

We had booked 15 rooms in total, all for adults, and all for a wedding party. We had spent a lot of money in the hotel and could not believe what we got back.

The hotel is beautiful and some of the staff are true beacons of customer service. I can't help but be honest though, I will never stay here not recommend anyone else to. The fact our bride was forced to tears on multiple occasions just sums up our experience there.

Dear BeccaBarn,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Marina Playa.

We regret that you haven't enjoyed and gotten the best out of the hotel. However our intention is to make the customer come back again, making them feel like at home.
Our main intention, is to give a better service, take care of those customers who want an extended offer of the bar menu and to add more furniture to the terrace so there is more space and everyone can enjoy the fantastic views from the terrace.

I am so disappointed that my staff did not handle that situation correctly. Please accept my apology. To make sure this doesn't happen again, I have already addressed this with my staff. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

On the other hand, during the months of July and August there is a lot of work on site and sometimes the staff is stressed, so we would like to express our apology if you found that the member of the bar staff was stressed out.

I do hope you will give the Marina Playa another opportunity to be your hotel and let us show you a wonderful stay.

Kind regards,
María Sánchez
