“Best value hotel on the island with superb staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2010

This was our sixth year at the Tagomago, and it just gets better and better. For a two star hotel with such amazinly good value rates for dinner, bed and breakfast, this truly is a gem. The staff have remained the same for the last six years, proving that the place is well run. And 75% of the clientelle remain the same year on year for the time period we go, so clearly, we all love it. I hear they are adding air conditioning next year, which will make it even better. A new chef this year gave massive improvement to the food. Fabulous.

I have been to Ibiza many times and have to say that for anyone wanting a lovely place too stay whilst enjoying San Antonio- Hotel Tagomago! Myself and friend booked two single rooms to get one double and one twin which was a lovely surprise. The rooms are very spacious with walk in wardrobe and chest of draws, bathroom with shower bath sink and toilet. The towels were changed everyday and housekeeping came around 11am or later which was nice.
My room then opened onto a terrace and garden area which was lovely. The rooms were also fan assisted which was fine and helped when hot. Lots of mirrors- so great for the girlies needing to get ready.
There is the half board option which we didn’t realise we had so that would have been a bonus with breakfast and dinner included.
There is a safety box system that you can use if you wish from reception. There is also internet and TVs in the lounge.
The pool is nice with a small area for kids and a larger pool for a longer dip. However, the beach is 2 minutes from reception so it’s all good. There is also a reasonably priced bar for snacks and drinks. Plenty of sun beds too.
The staff were very cheery and took cash and cards to pay for the room- so contact the hotel direct on their website to see about special offers!
It’s also walking distance to the mid bay. Town bars of Buccaneros, Donnigans and Pink Panther so great for early drinks or a fun night out. The river taxi goes regularly from by the hotel also which is a bonus.
All in all a lovely location, I didn’t hear any noise so its perfect- Id recommend to families, friends and couples and compared to other hotels about its clean, friendly staff and just what you need for a carefree time. I will definitely return

travelled with a group of three friends (two in each room), my room was at the back of the hotel, terraced area faced out into a bush?? but the the other girls room had a huge closed in terrace with beautiful views of the bay (think it was room 13), rooms do not have aircon, but do come with a ceiling fan, usually i suffer if its gets too hot, but i really did find the fan sufficed (33degree heat outside).

cleaners do a great job, come every day, replace towels, make bed etc, really friendly too, once you leave your do not disturb sign outside, no interruptions.

If being honest different story with the rest of the hotel staff, attempted to get a fridge (they can be rented as can hairdryers, toaster etc) from gentleman at reception we were told we were on a waiting list?? never got a fridge, and were told they are not allowed provide ice? Also there is a man who works the day shift at the bar, gets quite irrate if ones moves the seating/ sun loungers (which is necessary as pool area can be a bit shady). On attempt to call a taxi to head out one night, was told he didnt know any taxi numbers.

apart for those few negitives i would still recommend this hotel, it suited our group fine for our needs (somewhere to rest our heads after a night out)

it has a great location, right on the beach, offers you the choice of nice relaxing days by the pool/ beach and approx €6 in taxi or 15-20 min walk down to the west end, lots of nice restaurants in very close proximity. Also kept very clean and would definitely feel safe in at night.

Just got back after a 1 week stay, First the good bits. Housekeepers kept the rooms clean and they came in and changed the towels etc every day. The beer was cold and the pool was clean and the bar staff were freindly. Now the not so good bits. Man on reception was miserable and arrogant. Our rooms, which were right at the back of the hotel and overlooking a very busy road were unbelievably noisy at night time and the empty shops situated directly below us was a hot spot for drunken night time activies (fighting, shouting and screaming). The old draws and cupboards in the room were a pain to open and close. Our bathroom sink had a crack in it and the bath was layered with a heavy load of seland and white paint. We had booked room only and was told nothing was vailable when we asked to be moved. Got the same response when we asked if it was possible to pay for an upgrade. We won't be going back.....

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments, although we are, of course, disappointed that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. I would like to respond to some of your comments as follows. Firstly, as your reservation came as a small group booking, we believed we had done our best by accommodating you in three rooms which were immediately adjacent to each other. The booking came from an agency as a single, a twin and a triple. Even though one of your room bookings was for a single room, but in order to keep you together, we provided a twin room at no extra cost. It was not until you arrived that we understood that the triple room had been booked incorrectly by the agency, and, in fact you required a double room with a cot. Unfortunately, our hotel was fully booked at the time of your stay, which made it completely impossible to move you to other rooms. Your comment concerning the noise from the street is one that we are in the process of resolving. We are aware that even with the room fans on during the hottest time of summer, guests may still find it necessary to sleep with the windows open, which allows noise into the room. We are therefore looking into purchasing air conditioning for these bedrooms, which will avoid the need to leave windows open during the night. We hope that these measures will provide a more comfortable stay should you choose to visit us again.

Just returned from this hotel. Overall was pleasant stay, rooms are big, clean and basic. Location of the hotel is great. You have buses on High Street (5min walk) to most beautiful places in Ibiza, water taxi or bus to San Antonio centre. Hotel is based directly on the beach; Room 222 (where we stayed) had direct view to the bay and the beach, with a little terrace with table and chairs.
In the room there is no fridge - there is possibility to order it but they put you on the waiting list. We had done that on arrival day but never received one. There is no hairdryer also.
Hotel is not very noise as some people complained in previous reviews. However every two days there is a tractor (big truck) working on the beach making big noise from 4 and 9am. Very laud and annoying. You can not sleep at all. We complaint to the reception but they did not care about it at all.
The only thing that is negative is attitude of some of the staff working there. Cleaning team - wonderful, bar/restaurant staff also but there is one person (man around 50) working day shifts only at the reception (did not remember his name) - look like a manager or something with very bad attitude towards guests. He dropped phone on us, never waits when you finish with your query and never apologises for any inconvenience. "I hate my job" - sort of guy. We found him very unpleasant and unhelpful.
Swimming pool - very poor and covered with shadow for most of the day, breakfast - same food every day, they serve full English breakfast, do not go half board as it is not worth it.

must recommend this hotel. They really did live up to al the reviews and recommendations that I had read before hand. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and made us feel at home from the time we checked in to when we left. We went half board and quality and service of both breakfast and dinner were very good with good selection of salads, hot dishes and desserts for dinner and a full range of breakfast items, a far cry from many a European hotel I have stayed at. Very clean rooms, plenty of room around the pool and lounge area.
Resort is fine, just far enough from the main drag that is only about ten minutes walk but plenty of shops, bars and restaurants very near by. Beach was a stones throw away and never too busy although we were there in mid-August. Everyone very well behaved with no problems at all. Can recommend Itaca bar for cocktails and people watching and of course sunset strip especially Savannahs is an absolute must! do visit the hotel, you will not be disappointed.

First thing to say about the Tagomago is that it is in a very expensive town on Ibiza, so seems to offer really good value, especially for single travellers. The hotel is basic, near the town and has a really nice little pool and beach area. I could see that the rooms at the front of the hotel have beautiful views and big terraces (sadly I didnt gee one, but they looked lovely!). The receptionists were great and very helpful. Food was fine, I only had breakfast at the hotel, it was basic, but a good start to the day.

I read all the reviews about hot, noisy rooms at the back of the hotel and booked anyway. I wish i has listened to those reviews as I got one of the hottest, loudest rooms i could imagine! I really couldnt sleep in it and i am generally pretty good at sleeping in rooms with fans and no air con. It was a let down and I think this hotel could do a lot better if they could do something about the heat of the rooms at the back.

anyway, personally i would probably pay a little more next time and go to one of the other local hotels, but i think the Tagomago could be a really good experience if the owners could sort out the rooms at the back.

Thank you for taking the time to provide you comments, most of which we were delighted to read. The issue concerning the temperature of the rooms at the back of the hotel is one that we are well aware of and we are in the process of resolving it this winter with the introduction of air conditioning units.
