Tagomago is a great little hotel. I stayed here for 2 weeks over July and August with my husband on a B&B basis, we are 35 and 42 we like a bit of mild partying but mainly good food, wine, nice beaches etc...
Cannot recommend this place enough. If you want to be close enough to the action but also somewhere that you will be able to sleep and not full of British yobs then stay here.
After reading recent reviews I was fairly confident that this would be the right place for us, I was not wrong. A Spanish style hotel that clearly appeals to Europeans and the odd Brit but thankfully big gangs of kids don't seem to be the norm here. We travelled the last week of July and first week of August so peak time, this hotel is great value for money, the breakfast spread is brilliant, particularly as this is a 2* rated hotel we were truly shocked and pleasantly surprised at the breakfast options, you could have a cooked breakfast including black pudding and hash browns! all sorts of cakes and pastries, cheeses, pate, sliced meats and breads, all sorts of fresh fruits, cereals and yogurts, fresh juices, teas and coffees. Far better an offering than any 3* and some 4* that I've stayed in before round this area.
We did have noisy neighbours that woke us up one night, apart from that no real issue with noise, to be honest though you have to remember the price you're paying, I kind of expect that a little bit in a place like San Antonio. That could never ruin my holiday and not the fault of the hotel.
The rooms are fine, they are very clean, with ample storage space, tv, air con, ceiling fan, good sized bathroom, again perfectly clean and decent shower. We had a small balcony overlooking the little beach directly next to the hotel, the rooms are cleaned daily, we slept in one day as we'd had a heavy night and didn't venture out until midday, when we returned later that afternoon the maids had been in and cleaned our room.
the staff are lovely, they answer all of your questions, they even loan out parasols for the beach at no charge.
We found the location great, there a couple of small beaches right on the doorstep that are fine if you don't want to travel. There is a bus stop right next the hotel which can take you to 3 gorgeous beaches in about 20 mins, Cala bassa, Cala Conta and the best one Cala Tarrida. Also the boat that goes to these as well is just about 200 yards along the beach, the bus is cheaper though but nice to try to boat for the experience.
As for restaurants, well, there are loads, depends what you want. We try to avoid the typical British offerings. The best within walking distance to the left out of the hotel, Pizzaman (fab homemade pizza), Bella Bahia (we had a mid morning coffee here most days), Sa Flama on the beach, lovely spot, great for lunches and a romantic evening drink. Also a place called Es Puerto, right on the beach next to a place where you can hire boats (nice coffee and lunches, lovely ambience in the eve). The best to the right, away from San An, you need to walk a good way past the crazy golf and a strip of lively bars, walk for about 10-15 mins, you will go past directions to the Pint pot on your right, stay on the main road, you will walk past the Gorilla Hippy market. Then you will come to a quirky looking place called El Kiosko, Spanish place serving lovely pizza, Bruschetta and salads. Amazing cocktails. Then just after this place is a BBQ restaurant and bar called Visions, it really doesn't look like much, particularly as most of the tables are set up in front a bike hire shop. If you like meat, specifically BBQ meat then try it. Always full of locals by about 9.30 at night and it's buzzing it's fantastic, try the lamb or chicken kebabs, the fillet steak, Quails. Absolutely great, great value, well priced drinks. Try the house white wine, mmmm yummy.
Anyway, back to Tagomago, we will def return here, highly recommend it.
Thanks for a lovely holiday
