I visited Ibiza Rocks with two friends in September 2013. The hotel on arrival was very nice and clean. It looked like the ultimate party hotel.
When we arrived at the check in desk at around 10am, we were greeted by an older Spanish lady wih brown hair. She was very friendly and took our passports, deposits etc. She informed us that the room was not ready yet (we expected them to be ready at 2pm anyway, as advertised) so we decided to walk down to the beach front to grab some breakfast.
After returning to the hotel, and another 6 times of going to reception, we were told our room still weren't ready. A very rude Spanish man spoke to me at reception (the person who made the booking) like dirt. He was the worst mannered member of staff I encountered on the whole holiday - even the locals were friendlier from him which is rare in a party destination! Unfortunately we had to meet this sorry individual just a few hours into our stay, which tainted the whole holiday for me. In the end I had to force him to take my phone number and ask him to call me when the room was ready (it was around 4.30pm at this stage). In fact he didn't do this as he'd promised and we had to make a 7th trip to reception to get into our room around 5.30pm. The reason we booked an early flight to Ibiza was so we could make the most out of the Monday. This was ruined by poor service from the very start - Monday was almost a write-off. People were still waiting to get into their rooms when we went out for the evening around 7pm.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable (we stayed at Mallorca Rocks last year, and the rooms were pretty disgusting compared to Ibiza). They are much larger in reality than they looked on the Ibiza Rocks website. Three of us in a Stage View room was fine. We stayed in room 316 which was directly opposite the stage at the opposite end of the hotel - so we had the view of the pool and the stage in perfect vision. We were two minutes walk down a flight of stairs to the pool and 30 seconds away from reception. By far, we couldn't have asked for a better located room! Ibiza Rocks deserves credit for the rooms, if not the service.
The pool area is nice. The top-up card payment system is a bit of a pain, but nothing too bad. Prices are high around the pool (as would be expected) and the staff are constantly walking around making sure no one has brought their own drinks/food to the pool area. We just bought one bottle of water from the Bar each, and then filled it up from our room. Much cheaper option than buying from the bar each time.
The entertainment was good. We had Franz Ferdinand, Zane Lowe, Redlight, Shadowchild and a few others during our stay. Stage View rooms are definitely worth the extra cost - I would have anything less if I went again. Some of the standard rooms overlook a dirty service road where the coach transfer stops and starts all night - it's well worth upgrading to avoid those rooms (although apparently your booking does not guarantee you the rooms!)
The maid came around about 2/3 times during the week, which was more than I expected. They knocked on the door on occasions to make sure we had everything we needed. The maids, although slow when we first arrived, were great the rest of the week.
The music around the pool is fantastic, mixed by Ste-V-Something, but it is on a loop so it can get very repetitive after 7 days and nights! It would be nice to have a bit of a mix throughout the week.
We bought tickets for Amnesia (which was the best night out!); Pacha (which was good, but very crowded since it is small inside) and Es Paradis (which was the worst club I've ever been to - even compared to the local club in England!) from the sales desk at the front of the Ibiza Rocks lobby. All done with ease, but the staff on there were not enthusiastic at all and didn't sell the Ibiza Rocks brand for me at all.
The one Rep which did contribute real value to our holiday was Amy. She was the rep on our boat trip on the Wednesday, which was also her birthday. She was really friendly and made us feel welcome. She was still professional and gave a great service even though it was her birthday!
Ibiza Rocks The Boat was a let down, apart from the above! It was just a sound system on a boat. There are much more exciting boat trips available from other operators. I definitely wouldn't pay for the boat trip if I returned.
There is a corner shop just at the bottom of the road, loads of restaurants around the surrounding streets, and the West End and seafront are only 5 minutes walk. Sunset Strip is also only 5 minutes walk. The location was fantastic.
Although the hotel was nice and we all came back in one piece, I would rate Mallorca Rocks much higher Ibiza Rocks just for the level of service you receive. In Mallorca the reps were much more visible, looked more enthusiastic (apart from Amy who always took the time to talk to us when she saw us in Ibiza) and generally sold the brand better. The reception staff at both resorts are awful, each as rude as each other. Ibiza Rocks should really do something about the calibre of staff they have greeting new guests and saying goodbye to (potentially) returning ones!
Ibiza Rocks is what you make of it. I personally wouldn't return, having a much better time in Magaluf. And there were plenty of other nice hotels on the other side of San An harbour. I had higher expectations considering it was the original Rocks hotel - unfortunately on this time they weren't met!
Room 316! Brilliant room. Always book a stage view or pool view - they are worth the extra cost just...

Thank you for leaving such a detailed review of your stay at Ibiza Rocks. I can assure you that I will take on board the comments, criticisms and positives from your review and look to make some changes for next year.
From the artists you mention seeing in your review, I can see when you stayed - at this time of the year we have a fortnightly playlist around the pool so even for those guests staying 2 weeks, you wouldn't hear the same playlist twice. Of course the playlists are only on in the morning and evening as during the day we have live DJs.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Ibiza Rocks the Boat - we've had a lot of positive feedback for this party this year as well as our other party, W.A.R!Ship each Friday.
Once again I would like to apologise on behalf of Ibiza Rocks if your stay was not as you expected and would like to think we could rectify this and change your opinion if you were to stay with us again.
