We stayed at the tanit for 11 nights just returned this week. We requested via email direct to the hotel for health reasons a low floor and on arrival they allocated us floor 7 the top floor! We refused to accept it so they made us wait until they had checked everyone in at last 30 mins before they changed us! They gave us floor 1 which was ok but only got view of car park. We asked if they had any available with pool or sea view but was told no unless you paid extra! Although our family checked in a few days later and got a room with partial pool and sea view. Onto the good things the food was excellent although myself and my daughter are fussy and didn't eat much there was something for everyone. The entertainment team were excellent especially Valerie who ran the mini disco my little girl is still dancing to the songs now. The shows were excellent that they put on they worked really hard as did the mini club ladies. The room was cleaned daily and the maids were lovely although the hotel does need a bit of a makeover and we found the floors could be very slippy. You never waited long to be served excellent mostly cheerful bar tenders and waiters. Would we return again probably not.

Just returned home after a week at the Tanit 11th to 19th September and what can I say.....well the hotel is great, very clean, friendly staff, superb choice of food and drink making it excellent value for money.
Great choice of pools and entertainment and the nearby beach is lovely as is the sea...although be careful of jellyfish as I was stung which was very painful.
The only downside is apart from a supermarket across the road there is nothing close by so you have to walk into San Antonio about half an hours walk which we found very disappointing to say the least....it is a dirty place with graffiti everywhere and although we realised it is a clubbers paradise it just seemed a very sleazy and run down in many places although the harbour is nice and we took a boat ride from there that was very nice....my advice would be if you want to go into San Antonio go early in the morning and get out as quick as possible it really is that bad,
All In all a superb hotel in lovely surroundings if a little isolated which I would recommend to anyone if they were happy to stay on site....oh and the weather was brilliant.

Room Tip: try and get a room on a high floor to stop noise from outside.

We stayed for a fortnight at the beginning of September and all I can say is the entertainment gang made the holiday. Matt, Luka and Gab were a great laugh. As Scott says earlier lots of activities to watch or join in. My favourite was the water polo, and scoring past scott. The food was good as was the service from the staff to the cleaners. Lovely quiet area with two small nice beaches. Cant say I would go again, big world out there but I talked to an elderly couple who have been there 14 times. John from Wales, star striker water polo.

First of all there are lots of positives to the Tanit but I think our needs as a family have changed since we were last there 2 years ago. When we travelled last time it was with a baby and we were happy to stay close to the hotel - however this time we wanted to go out and about and explore so the all inclusive option was a bit wasted as we were eating out so we ended up spending quite a lot.
The hotel was clean but is ready for refurbishment - stained carpets, the decor is dated and was looking a little tired. However, the maids were in our room every day and beds were made and the room tidied. I don't think the floor in the bathroom was washed the 10 days we were there, although the towels were changed.
The food throughout the day, particularly breakfast, was plentiful with something for everyone. Evening meals were good with a selection roast meats, fish, salads and sides, however it does get a little repetative after a few days but i have found this with other all inclusive hotels. I did think the choice of snacks through the day were poor - hamburgers, hotdogs or chips or sandwiches made with white bread and stored in fridges in the bar area. A panini press, a selection of fillings and some decent bread would have been nice but i appreciate they are catering for large numbers of people - some variation would have been nice though.
The wine served in the restaurant was absolutely dire, tasted watered down, the rose being particularly bad. The bar/apartments over the road serve a lovely glass of white (in a proper glass for 2.50 euros)!!! The beer was ok though. I did try a cocktail but it was a ready mix from a machine - awful!
The entertainment team worked really hard getting people involved, aerobics in the pool, killer pool, french bowls, the kids disco at night the kids loved but the "shows" were cringeworthy!
My children both had a great time which is the main thing!
Would I stay in the Tanit again..... probably not!

Room Tip: whilst a pool view is lovely through the day, the music from the entertainment team is ridiculously...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Just returned on Saturday from a week away here. This was our first time here and probably would go back again at some point.

Reception - not a lot to say as really didn't need them apart from check-in was smooth and quick.

Room - great size, clean and although our room was a 'limited sea-view (all we could book at the time), this was a great view and highly recommend. Beds are quite hard although I like that but the pillows, which were comprised of long thin one and one square one were really hard and uncomfortable. Shower and hairdryer both worked well, towels changed everyday if you wished.
Air-con wasn't the best as you have to put your room card into a slot for the electric to work it turned off when you left, it needed time to build up and we were never in the room for long enough for it to get really cold. There is a safe (pay for). You have the option to add a fridge, kettle etc all at a a daily charge but we didn't. The main problem was the walls were thin but unfortunately for us we also had a connecting room (it was locked but I think the door was even thinner) and inconsiderate neighbours :(.

Food & Drink - Food I would say very good for a 3 star, a good choice buffet, always hot and you didn't have to queue. We worked out there is only 1 hour in the day (split into 2 half hours) when you can't actually get any food at all!! Drinks are self serve beer, pop and wines in the restaurant. At the bars there is a good selection of 'normal' drinks, cocktails and slush puppies for the kids.

Entertainment - sorry we cannot comment on the evening entertainment held in the cabaret room as we never went but in the day there are various things on like water polo, darts etc. All pretty basic but if you had kids or a bored husband it does the trick. The team are very friendly and great with the kids.

Pool/s - there are 3 in all, 1 splash pool for the little ones with slides, fountains etc. We overlooked this and never saw it full and always nice and relaxed as really only very little ones went here. 1 main one which is to be fair, pretty manic. We went as a couple and are only 40 but without kids ourself we just felt it was all too noisy and too much!! When the music is played (apart from being not to our taste most of the time) it was sooo loud, then there are the kids jumping in at all angles you could never just have a swim the length of the pool but I am sure if you do have children then this is great for you as they will be kept amused by the other kids. The only thing you really do have to get up early to get a bed and umbrella. 1 pool is just for adults and is a very short walk through the grounds, this is a lot more attractive to the eye and obviously a lot more sedate. There is also a hot tub, this was where we spent all of our holiday after the first day. Again you do have to get up pretty early to get the spot you want and an umbrella but there really was always a spot to grab.

Location - it is in a very peaceful spot but only 10 minutes (on the bus from San Antonio). You have a private access to a little cove through the gardens of the hotel and it is really pretty, there is a snack bar on the beach (although this is not the hotels, so you have to pay). There is also another little cove just round the rocks (access via some steps just in front of snack bar and downa road, 2 min walk) which has a lovely restaurant on the beach. This really was all there was there apart from the hotel and a few apartment blocks. The bus stops just opposite the hotel that will take you to San Antonio and there is also a water taxi for a change that stops oppposite as well. There is one resturant just left of the hotel next to a little supermarket but sorry we never visited it.

Hotel overall - nice but a little dated in places but this never really bothered us as we don't go anywhere expecting boutique experience unless we paid boutique prices. it was kept very clean all apart from the stairs carpet, which I found really odd I don't think it saw a vacumm, all week?? and was quite stained.

All in all we were pretty pleased with what we got and it is a good base for the Island as well.

Room Tip: We stayed in 314 and a 'limited sea view' is excellent!!

We travelled as a family my mrs me and my son of 7years. 24th aug til 7th sept

First off all forget the negative reviews by people

I've stayed in a lot of hotels and to be honest this is the only hotel that gets me excited about goin. We went in 2011 and was amazing we didn't think it could get any better but honestly was surprised how much better it was.

Checked in at @ 12pm roughly and to be honest they was very quick and very polite. No queues.

Room was 623 a great view off the pool and the see off which the sunset was amazing from the room also cleaned every day and very spacious beds and pillows very comfy.

Sunbeds. Never a issue around the kids pool or main pool

Food. Wowwwwww to be honest out of all the hotels this food is the best ive had as all inc even my son found something to eat every mornin and night. You have buffet bit and a salad section aswel as the fresh cooked bit where you had fresh joint of meat every night plus fresh fish cooked and omelettes for breakfast deserts are very nice plus the snack bar of burgers hotdogs and chips in between 3 meals a day we went for beast and evenin meal we tried the lunch and couldnt move.

Bar staff, top people ignore the comments about them being rude etc as they are up for a laugh and very helpful also Antonio,Ramirez,Manuel, juan Miguel, rafa, to be honest every one of them were brilliant. Didn't rush you when bar was shot and by 3rd day I was having Osborne ponche, palo, hierbas, as shot every time wheat to the bar.

Kids activities, from 11am the kids can join in events done by SIlvia,Valerie who were totally amazingly on the go alday doing footy, killer pool, shuffleboard, mini golf, water polo for kids,Jenga, my son was involved every day and had a soft spot with silva.

Adult activities, were from 11am they were archery, rifle shooting, killer pool, killer darts,French boules, football, water polo off which were brill

Fiesta team, big shout out to GABRI,VALERIE,JOHAN,LUCA,PICCO,MATT aka Peter Andre,SILVIA, these are the nicest people you will ever meet honestly the best entertainment team I have come across they are fun work hard always up for a laff. My son loved Gabri n Silvia.

Evening shows our favourite show was the lion king amazing but again from two years ago the shows were amazing couldn't fault any of them as they were just full of fun and kept you entertained.

Mini disco is fun for the kids but you will learn the party dances around the pool.

Over all this holiday was the best I've had. My son wants to live there or bring Gabri home to live with us.

So forget the negatives because you have to look very hard to find the negatives at this hotel of you do then you are very very picky and sad.

We shall be returning to this hotel again as we already got got next year planned.
