“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

Just returned from a 5 day relaxing short break in the sun. Was met with a friendly reception which makes all the difference. We returned to this resort because we wanted a few days in the sun to escape the lovely uk weather and knew the beach is gorgeous and there are a good choice of restaurants to cater for all budgets. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Location is excellent for the beach and restaurants. We are not really pool users but could see that it didn't get much sun after 3pm. It was good to have a balcony as some hotels charge extra for this. There was a good choice for breakfast and was lovely to have the option to eat outside. We also received a bottle of wine for my husbands birthday which was a lovely surprise and touch. They must have noted his dob from his passport. The only disappointing point was the tapas bar was empty in the evenings so went over to the jupiter for a drink in the evening. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate again to book again for a short break as was good value for the money.

I have no complaints with the hotel, I went for my birthday weekend, they delivered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine which was appreciated. The location of the Hotel Da Rocha for us was the best, the beach was a stroll away and restaurants were within ideal walking distance. cabs lined up beside the hotel so that was a plus on nights out to alvor etc. The breakfast was nice, food was of a decent quality and there was enough variety.

The rooms were cleaned and housekeeping was efficient. The staff for us were brilliant, an example is the curtain fell down on the first day we were there, (you can hardly blame them if the previous occupants had done damage and not informed them) and their handyman was there shortly and refitted the curtain within minutes, saving us the upheaval of having to move.

I would definitely be back and give a good recommendation.

Room Tip: Rooms to the side of the hotel were best as the sun was strong on the balcony for a limited number o...

This hotel would get 9 out of ten but for the size of the pool & location

Positive Points - Rooms excellent - stayed in Room 806 beautiful view of both the beach and the mountains.
12 Night stay in May 2014

Staff very help full & friendly
Hotel Spotlessly clean
Breakfast massive choice suit all tastes
location right opposite the beach
I don't normally single out one member of staff but on this occasion I must thank Rute on the front desk. I wrote to her prior to arriving raising a couple of queries and making a couple of requests. She came back to me promptly and in a very professional manner. A hidden gem

Negative points - Only One ie the size and location of the pool, but for that it would have been perfect

Room Tip: Go for a room on a high floor ie either side sea view or full frontal view.

The hotel is located right opposite the main entrance to the beach, superb location and the beach is excellent, loads to do there and lots of restaurants nearby. On arrival there was a slight issue we had with the gym facilities not being on site (as we were informed) but actually being in their sister hotel across the road and also at an additional cost. Whilst it was necessarily the hotels fault (maybe the holiday company) the staff were very helpful and understanding and arranged something for us.
The rooms are huge (almost a 1 bed flat), nice big beds, then separate living room with additional TV and small kitchen with balcony.
Recommend this hotel for beach holiday in the Algarve, not a lot else to do or see or do in the area, but good beach holiday.

This accomodation was booked over the phone on arrival. It was cheaper than various sites quoted too. The room booked was a side aspect twin. A car parking slot was had at an extra 6 euro per day. The car parking closed at 6 pm but access was ok via button push on entrance. The hotel was clean and modern and signing in simple. The key card worked seamlessly for the whole weeks stay. Usually find they need constant 're-programming' ! Breakfast was a perfunctory affair. There was no interaction with the staff after I once asked a table to be set, i was left to get my own 'eating irons'. The juices were limited to orange and....orange. The english breakfast was limited and it never varied. There was fruit pieces some cold cuts and some pastries. it was noted that little attempt was made to keep hot food warm or cold foods chilled. The coffee was a self serve machine on dispense. The coffee was not good :-( if you need good coffee to kick start your day, then you'll not get it here. The bath room was clean and modern with a fragrant shower gel. The fridge was stocked with simple drinks, no snacks. The room benefitted from a small recline area with it own flat screen tv (there was one at end of beds too). The main downside was noise, mainly because of the floorng and furniture combinations. Every time furniture was moved you heard it! As the hotel is situated in the middle of the 'drag' revellers would come in at 3-4am and be noisy as they flopped for the night, followed then by the noisy cleaning crew! It was not enough to break your spirit, but it needed addressing with some signs to remind folk that people are sleeping ....as always, the question is, would I come back = yes

Room Tip: front overlooks the sea, never used facilites in hotel next door, wanted spa and treatments but it...

The hotel is very modern and clean. The location is ideal for the beach, and for the main strip of restaurants (to the right of the hotel). There is a lovely little harbour and more restaurants/bars to the left of the hotel (slightly further to walk but definatly worth it).

We did not book a sea view and were at the back of the hotel but this was fine for us as we went out each evening. However, if you were going to sit on the balcony in the evening I would recommend paying extra for the sea view room.

The pool is small but then you have a beach on the doorstep, which we preferred. If you walk along the beach you can hire a 2 sun loungers and umbrella for around 10 euros or if you prefer you can find your own area and lay out in the sun. There are lots of coves which give a bit of shade if you prefer to do this.

People have commented on the choice at breakfast, and it was very similar through the stay, but there was plenty on offer each day. Another bonus of the hotel is the free WiFi and safe in the room, also you can hire the beach towels for 20 euros per towel (which you get back when you hand your towel in). We found this ideal as it meant fresh clean beach towels each day.

Overall we really enjoyed this beach holiday, and would recommend it for a chill out holiday.

Room Tip: Sea view if you are going to sit on the balcony, also a higher floor.

Superb hotel, would recommend to anyone.Had a deluxe studio with sea view, fabulous.Very modern, very clean, ample fascilities.Breakfast was buffet style but super choice and good quality and plenty of it.All staff were helpful and very pleasant, even got free champagne for my birthday, lovely touch.Coudnt understand why the Tapas bar was never open.Only one negative, the shaded pool area, not helped by the selfish people who think they have a right to reserve the few sun beds in the sun,but hey ho the beach is only 100 yds away.Fantastic location for beach, bars, restaurants, buses and taxis.

Room Tip: Front sea view and balcony certainly worth it
