“beautiful place for beautiful people at a beautiful price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2009

This hotel really is a beautiful place. The gardens are quite awesome, so well tended it is like living in Kew Gardens!

The service is excellent, the rooms are great (see point below), beach is next to hotel and is almost private to the hotel (there are no private beaches in portugal, all beaches are public access), the food is amazing.

On the downside, they seem only to have single beds pushed together (maybe this is same everywhere in portugal, I dont know), it is very Expensive to eat in the restaurants - it is superb food but allow 50+ Euro a head to eat every night (plus wine). It is a German run hotel and is well attended by German nationals that do not seem to have the same issues with nudity as the more reserved British (to be fair, the hotel explicitly asks people to cover up in the sauna and the beach, but that is not enforced).

This resort is well attended by the rich and famous, so you can tell it is a 'quality' resort.

Most people we met seemed to come back year after year and apparently you get a reasonable discount if you are a returning customer (so that would definately help on the hotel bill front!)

Basic advice, if you haven't got pots of money, stay away - but if you want a really fanatastic place to stay and gain a few pounds (of weight!) in the process, this is perfect.

Stayed at the Vila Vita parc for a week for our anniversary celebration. What an amazing hotel , we have stayed at various 5* hotels aroound the world but this was without question one of the best. Fantastic attentive service nothing was too much trouble , the management and staff are a credit to the hotel !!! For a special occasion they went out of their way to make us feel special. The food was outstanding and the rooms and grounds immaculate . Don't believe any bad reviews this place is amazing and luxurious , looking to return asap.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Vila Vita and we have to say we loved it!

The grounds are amazing - so extensive, so well manicured - in fact seriously manicured - we didn't see any thing out of place, even the paths look like they have been scrubbed clean. It takes a while to walk around (an hour I reckon) and so big it's easy to get lost. We loved the pitch and putt, the public beach (although in reality it's private as it's virtually inaccessible by the public).

The room was large, again very clean, good view over gardens, nice bathroom with quality products as well.

Food was good. We only ate in the hotel and all the food was always freshly prepared. Didn't have a bad meal. The hotel only sells Portugese wine and we loved every bottle we had.

The staff were in general (1 exception) really friendly, for example on Saturday night we were in a cocktail bar and by the end of the evening, the bar staff, caberet act and all the guests were dancing - great atmosphere.

And the comments that the hotel is expensive - it's a five star hotel! Why would you expect it to be cheap - if you want cheap, don't stay here! We had breakfast included, we ate lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurants, drinks during the day, cocktail bars in the evening. We didn't skimp on anything and you're talkng 200 euro a day minimum - if that's a problem, then don't go there as you won't feel relaxed.

So all in all we loved, would go back in a flash and ideal for a short break. Think max would be 10 days, it may get a bit samey after that - oh and don't bother leaving the hotel, the nearby town is a real dump - the worst kind of example of a purpose built tourist town. Only go into town to visit yhe hotel fish restaurant on the beach - apparently in the summer it hosts a beach party on a friday night.

We spent 2 weeks here as a family last July (children 18 and 15), and I think that the only thing out of the ordinary is the expense! Having travelled extensively I am not used to feeling that I am being taken for a ride, but certainly did here...

I would fully agree that the hotel grounds are spectacular: apart from the poor value for money that is really all that is outstanding about this place. The rooms are spacious and pleasant, and the gym is good but only what you would expect from a nice hotel. However, the hotel restaurants are only very average (we had better food in a local Italian restaurant than in the Italian 'on-site'), but they certainly know how to charge: 200 Euros for a buffet meal for 4 was expensive before the recent collapse of sterling! To then charge 14 Euros for glass of port in Portugal...

The resort of Armacao de Pera has a nice beach, but the is rather downmarket, and quite a walk from the hotel - certainly not the place for a quiet evening stroll. If you want to browse quaint streets, try Lagos!

I think that this hotel thinks it is better than it is: I would advise anyone to think twice before trying it out. We should have read the reviews from last summer before booking: ignore the recent glowing reports - many from last year and before tell it how it is!

  • Liked — The grounds
  • Disliked — The feeling of being over charged and poor value for money - just too expensive for what was on offer!

We stayed at the Vila Vita Parc in August 2007. We are a family of 4 with 2 children and one being a very active toddler!

We found ALL the staff first class and very attentative to our needs where nothing was too much trouble.

i always dread that when we go away with the children that there is not enough for them to do and keep busy but this place had it all right down to the perfect childs hair cut at the salon!

every night we were spoilt for choice as to where to eat and spend all our lovely sunny days hanging out by the pool and eating lunch at the swim up bar and the kids loved the ice-creams and the waiter service round the pool!

We had a luxury garden suite which was set in lush grounds and quiet but with easy walking distance to the pool and everything, the football pitch was great and every day the kids played at the kids play park and they played mini golf. the rooms were immaculate and well catered for with bottle warmers, cot, fridge and anything you needed.

My only qualm and its quite a small one was that there was no Iron available in the room you had to pay out for it to by iron or dry cleaned which can be expensive if your husbands shirts or your dresses get a little ruffled on the journey so i think if they could provide you with an iron this would be more cost effective!

Watch out for the mosquitos in the evening in the grass round one or two restaurants as my 2yr old Son got bitten on the face and got infected and spent 3 days with a swollen eye and face, however the hotel were brilliant and sent a German doctor to the room within the hour and they sent out for medication so we didn't even need to leave the resort, fabulous!

Other than that ALL our needs were catered for and we are definitely going to book next summer this time we may try booking one of the private villas on site with a pool.

loved it and the place, Portugal exceeded our expectations as a family.

The hotel was fabulous. I had written and asked for a peaceful room in advance and we were given a lovely garden view room in La Residencia. From arrival - free parking for hire car to superb meals. We ate in two of the many restaurants - the italian and the one in the main building (whose name I forget) Both were excellent. Service was amongst the best I have ever experienced and by all staff for everything. A beautiful location, immaculately maintained, the resort is large so it is good exercise, just walking around. We played tennis a couple of times and the crazy golf (for amusement - hilarious course) Our only thought was the lack of wow factor pool. Two reasonable sized outdoor pools but neither are great focal points nor have spectacular views compared with other areas of the resort.
It is the most perfect chill out, destress environment and as an out of season (mid sept) long weekend break, it would be very hard to beat. Although we do not know the Algarve, the immediate areas around the hotel and neighboroughing resort were ghastly and we never felt inclined to leave. To that degree, I would not want to spend longer than 4-5 days in one stretch as I would get bored

  • Liked — Quality customer experience from start to finish
  • Disliked — Grotty neighbouring resorts

I was here for a conference and so the main purpose was not beach, pool and sun. The mtg facilities were great, F&B was excellent- we tried just about all options they had andf really enjoyed all our meals!

I would 100% go back to this hotel in the wramer months for pleasure. The pool was great, saunas were nice, they even have an ice room! I only looked at the beach, but wow.. it looked amazing perched amongst the cliff rocks.

Service was really good and they always went above & beyond.

Only downfall I could possibly find is that since they are a German based company the Tv's have many German channels which includes many porno channels after 9pm. I personally dont have kids but that would be a tad weird with kids.

I will go back one day!

My hubby also said that that the golfing was the best he'd ever seen. The Ocean Golf Club.
