“excellent guesthouse for a short or longer stay in the Algarve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

We stayed in this guesthouse for a week, excellent place. Run by a Dutch couple + their 2 sons, they have built a true paradise; only 7 rooms, very quiet area, only 15 minutes from Faro Airport and exceptionally well located for as well daytrips within the Algarve or fi to the Atlantic Ocean.
The service is outstanding, the rooms are spacious, food is good ( breakfast only, however the owner cooks 3 times a week what he feels like that day and you can join if you want; he then gets it from the local market and cooks awesome meals; used to be a chef in the Netherlands....) and a great salt water swimming pool.
The good thing is also that they can give you excellent advice for trips to make and/or restaurants to go to; we had excellent food and wines for cheap prices !
Definitely worthwhile to go !!

We found this place by accident doing an "agri-tourismo" search on the internet... They don't really have this concept in Portugal we discovered... Our review of the quinta is based on dinner only although it is a beautiful boutique hotel too

The situation is stunning, the [Dutch] family, are very friendly and welcoming even offering to pick us up from the local church if we could not find it... (Navigon GPS was unable to pinpoint the location). Walking around the grounds, we notice a modest pool and some fitness instruments of torture (especialy in that heat), and there are some horse belonging to the owners (not sure it they let guests ride them though)

Dinner is only server 3 nights a week, and you need to book on the day before noon (this is so the team know what to buy from the local market for that evening)... The mean is set, however we were asked if there was anything we didn't like to eat to ensure there was an alternative.

The food itself uses local ingredients, however the cooking style is not Potugese (hence the food was not swimming in oil as it does in these parts)... Flavours were very nice and the staff more than accommodating

Although I would highly recommend this place (I'd go again if in the vacinity), it is quite expensive for the region, but then you have to expect to pay for quality... So value for money was still acceptable although more than you would expect to pay locally.

Fabulous place, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our weekly stay at QDCV.
Ard and family are truly delightful and friendly hosts, very welcoming and with a unique attention to detail, ensure that you are looked after at all times without being intrusive. The breakfast served outdoors was a delightful and memorable experience and the quality of food at dinner was exceptional. The whole place is tastefully decorated and spotless. The hosts have a great sense of humour and all the advice given on restaurants and places to visit was sound.
We shall be returning hopefully with friends to perhaps spend some more time around the great pool and enjoy the hospitality. Great find!

We came to this quinta after staying at the 5 star Vila Vita Parc so it was interesting to see the differences between the two. This is also a hidden oasis in the Algarve - you will definitely need a car to get here and to get around. The welcome here was also very friendly and we enjoyed talking to the owner about his renovation work. The family have built a very special place and there is a lovely atmosphere. The rooms are very large and the showers are fantastic. Breakfast was lovely and we were able to get hot drinks in the evening. We wished we had booked for an evening when Ard does the cooking as his selection of cookery books (including Ottolenghi) suggests that the food would have been great. Wi-fi is available but not TVs. We loved the style of the building and can see that in warmer weather it would be a great place to relax. The price represents very good value for a location in the Algarve and we recommend this place.

Visited in October 2010 and it was heaven on earth. I see the more recent reviews support that the tradition continues. The beauty of the quinta and the grounds along with the superb service and dining were spectacular. Ard and the family make this a special experience - tea by the fire, home cooked gourmet meals, tours of the property, family pets, tourist tips. Such a cozy and intimate spot, but full of life and fun. Families and couples- something for everyone here. This is an area of Portugal that deserved more time than we gave it on the itinerary. Would love to go back and relax for a week by the pool/ sea.

The "quinta" is a completely rebuild farm, with an amazing eye for detail. There are six rooms and one suite (seperate family appartment with kitchenette and living room), each with their own style and color scheme. In regard of the authentic style, don't expect a television or bright spotlights in the room. You do get high speed internet access for free if you wish to keep up to date with your social media or check the weather forecasts each day. Everything is very clean in the room, everything can be locked securely and you take a nice warm shower in your own bathroom (fitted with a bassin, toilet and bidon).

The main living is very spacious and gives all the guests the abilitity to relax during the evening (near the fireplace) or take the home cooked breakfast at one of the tables. Outside is a terrace with loads of places to sit, and a swimming pool with enough places for all guests to relax. All-in-all, very clean and the owners are very happy to assist you with anything you need.

The level of personal attention is amazing. Owners Ard (father), Noor (mother) and Bas (son) are very keen to give you the right information each day. They know every place in the Algarve and will reserve the right restaurant for you, point out the right route and share the best places to visit with you. The fun starts during the morning with breakfast. Everything is home cooked, like freshly baked toast, croissants, custard cakes, bacon and eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, complimented with other home made products.

Breakfast is served between 8.30 and 11 o' clock.
On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday they also make, upon request, a home cooked diner the guests. There are very nice "Jamie Oliver like" meals, definitely better than most restaurants in the area. But they are happy to help you out finding the right restaurant when you want to stay in the area you're visiting for that day. The quinta has a wide range of drinks and fine wine.

The room rates are ok (115 to 135 euros depending on the season), but looking at the level of service and the facilities, it's defitinitely worth the money!

It's good for a romantic week in the Algarve, but travelling with the whole family to this quinta will also make up for a great experience.

Room Tip: Every room is great! For a quiet room, you can request one that's not too close to the living ar...

Just returned from our 2nd visit within 5 months as this a very special guesthouse that is difficult to resist. Very personal service along with a cracking breakfast, delightful bedrooms and beautiful garden. I would unreservedly recommend QDCV and hope to return myself sooner rather than later.
