“A great familybusiness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

We had a few drinks at Dulcinea because it was so hot outside. The owner came over to chat and gave us some information on the city. We decided we wanted to eat there but we wanted to visit the museum first. He treated us like old friends and told us we could pay the bill whenever we came back. Of course we gladly came back and had wonderful fresh fish. Everything was great! The food was amazing and the service was so friendly and correct. Definately recommended!!

“Great food, great views, great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Several years ago, I posted a review on Trip Advisor of our favorite restaurant in Ulcinj, which was then known as “Restaurant Teuta 1.” Imagine our surprise when my wife and I returned in 2012 and found a different name over the door of our favorite place!

Luckily, all was well – only the name had changed, to “Restaurant Dulcinea.” Everything else was the same – the same friendly owners (Adem Nimanbegovic and his family), the same wonderful view, and the same fantastic fresh seafood.

Everything I wrote in 2010 still holds true. We love Montenegro, and we visit nearly every year. We’ve been up and down the coast from Herceg Novi to Ulcinj, and have eaten at some highly recommended places, but the grilled fish at Restaurant Dulcinea – especially the orada – is absolutely the best we’ve had anywhere. My mouth is watering sitting here at home, just thinking about it! We’ve also tried several of the local specialties on the menu, such as “oriental lamb” (basically a casserole of lamb and egg and cheese), which were always very good.

Ulcinj’s Old Town (Stari Grad), overlooking Adriatic, the Mala Plaza (small beach), and the central area of town, is a wonderful, peaceful place to enjoy dinner. From a perch on top of the cliffs, Restaurant Dulcinea offers a perfect place for people watching – whether it’s kids playing among the boats down below, fellow tourists wandering up to the Old Town, or residents going about their business.

But it’s the hospitality of the Nimanbegovic family that makes Restaurant Dulcinea really special. On our first visit, when things weren’t too busy, Adem stopped by our table to chat about Ulcinj and his family’s life there. We were amazed when, returning more than a year later, we were greeted like old friends. The greatest joy of travelling is getting a chance to know people from the places we visit, and getting acquainted with the local culture and issues. This is a great place to learn, over a wonderful meal, more about Ulcinj and Montenegro.

On our first visit to Ulcinj we didn’t visit this restaurant – it had white tablecloths and looked like it might be expensive. Since we took the plunge the next year, though, we’ve discovered that we actually spend less here than at other places in Ulcinj – Adem made sure we ordered the right amount for a generous dinner for two, rather than trying to sell us (or charge us for) everything in the kitchen. Walk past the hawkers for the other places on both sides, and find Restaurant Dulcinea – like us, you’ll be glad you did.

“Excellent food in the Ulcinj old city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

I just came back from an excellent meal at Dulcinea--fresh sea bass--served by the owner himself. This restaurant is family owned and operated, provides a low-key atmosphere with a beautiful terrace overlooking the small beach from the old city perch, and the food is wonderful. One of the best meals I've head on my trip to the Balkans. Highly recommended.
