“Not so bad...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We stayed at hotel "Corali" in Sutomore for one night during a trip to Croatia. The hotel is located right on the beach. The room was clean, also towels / 2 per person /. There was a working TV, refrigerator and air conditioning. Breakfast satisfied our expectations. There was a choice between several types of cheese, sausages, aggs / prepared two different ways /, fruits /apples, watwrmwlon/, milk. Our stay in the hotel, although very short, was pleasant.

Excellent review written by jazzmavericksir.
We have stayed at Korali hotel and it was not such a tragic experience. Maybe it’s due to the fact that we run away from Apartments Suster (also in Sutomore) and for us everything was better than that… Furniture was very simple but had a TV, the fridge was working and also did the air-conditioning. The room was clean and the towels (2 for each person) were changed daily. Food at breakfast was of poor quality and for this reason we decided not dine at the hotel. Due to its low standard, I would not recommend this hotel to tourist coming from Western Europe.

Hotel Korali is still very much a left over from the old Eastern European communist era. Built probably in the late 60s-mid 70s European holidays boom it hasn't moved with the times. During the 'Cold War' years Montenegro (or Crna Gora to use its correct name) was just about as far South as tourists from behind the 'Iron Curtain' could get to experience Mediterranean sunshine and a relative freedom. Staff were paid a set State standard wage which wasn't linked to standards of service or efficiency and perhaps this attitude still lingers. Sutomore itself has become Serbia-by -the Sea and expanded in terms of bars/fast food outlets/holiday villas in the aftermath of the Yugoslav Civil War in an unplanned, crowded and often flashy way. You can't walk comfortably walk along the main drag by the sea wall anymore (certainly in the Summer) as bars and cafes have taken up space outside, each one in competition to see who can drown out the noise of its neighbours' live music or techno disco. The only real advantage is the exchange rate but as Montenegro gears up to entering the Euro zone this will be short lived. My fater in law (who's Serbian) has built a house here so I have visited Sutomore and Montenegro on and off for nearly 20 years.

Hotel seemed to be from the old Communist days. It was dark and dirty, no hot water, no tv, rude staff. The food on offer seemed to be very basic and of poor quality. I guess the weather didn't help the experience in Sutomore as it was stormy and raining my entire time there. Located only 100m from the beach was the only positive aspect of this hotel. Would never stay at Korali or Sutomore again! (Took a very long, hot and smokey 12 hour train trip from Belgrade to Sutomore).Very disappointed.
