“Absolutely luxurious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We literally did not want to go home! I stayed here with my fiancé about a month ago for the weekend. We were welcomed right away by the manager and the owner, who helped us take our bags up to our suite before showing us around the whole property. They took us to see the falcons and told us about the historical significance of the Villa, and previous owners such as the Bartoli family and the Medici. They invited us in after the tour for an aperitivo with prosecco and sliced meats and cheeses. We decided to enjoy the aperitivo while playing pool in the 18th- century style billiards room, it was pretty awesome.
The chef prepared us an amazing 3 course dinner comprised of tagliatelle pasta with wild mushrooms and lamb roast with roasted potatoes for the main course (first time my fiancé has ever loved or even LIKED lamb!
The owner invited us to have a dessert wine with him after we had finished dinner. The service was the best I have ever experienced in Italy, very warm and welcoming, would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. There is an awesomely positioned pool (unfortunately we weren't there in summertime). Definitely looking forward to staying again.

Room Tip: There are only 9 suites, so it is really cozy. I think the room number 3 was huge, but obviously co...

I have spent 5 days in this vila in July 2012. I was there with my wife and 2 sons (10 and 8 years old). This was my first holiday in Italy and I have to say, that for sure I will come back.
We spend the mornings visiting the famous places around (Pisa, Siena, Florence...) and afternoons at the pool in Vila. Evenings were spectacular especially for my kids. Alessio (the person in charge of the falcons) spent almost every evening with my kids showing them different birds of prey and explaining to them a lot of things about this sport. We also made a trip with the horses in the neighborhood.
Every night we had a wonderful local dinner cooked by Jonathan and served in a very exclusive atmosphere.
For me this is definitely a secret travel tip for Tuscany.

Many heartfelt thanks for choosing to stay with us in Villa Poggio Bartoli. It was a delightful experience for us as well. As you were able to see, the falcons, falconry school, our horses and carriages are not only what the villa offers but they are a part of our lives and lifestyle. Hoping to see you again. All the best,

We spent a day here at this beautiful villa and the time we had is worth reviewing. First the owner treated us to a demonstration of his falcons. It is a fascinating art form of training the birds to hunt, a pastime that the Medicis enjoyed in the 1500's. The location of this villa is amazing, the country side is absolutely breathtaking. The villa chef made one of the best lunches for us on the terrace, using only fresh, local produce and meat. The wine that was served is from the owners vineyards in Bolgheri, and it was fantastic. The rooms are simple, elegant, spacious, and are full of wonderful surprises, like the onyx shower, or the 16th century winding staircase in the bridal suite. The attention we received was wonderful, and the experience was unique and worthwhile...quite a lovely break from Florence, which is about 40 minutes away.

Hello, just quick word of thanks from me. It was truly a delightful day! You had the chance to meet and get to know the whole staff as well as spend a good part of the day enjoying our falcons, horses and fine dining! We hope that one day our paths may cross again and that you may choose to spend more than one day with us! All the best to you!

We went on a group trip of 17 and this was the most amazing place place to stay. There are 2 rooms off the main house in the courtyard and it was perfect, as I was 8 months pregnant to have a place away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. I still think we had the best views and we also didnt hear the farm next door, which was indearing really. The expansive space, old world charm and history in this home and surrounding area makes it the best place to stay. Just a short drive to the train station gets you to anyother area of Italy you could want to go to.
